Don't think it will happen JJ, they're set up for a good run in B or C with their junior programme and link to Mordi-Brae.

How extraordinarily generous of you to offer your expertise, Dougie.

However, I must respectfully decline as I'm quite au fait with the operation and the reasons for it.

As for it being the cause of a two tier comp, some of us might suggest that's precisely what we've had for yonks and that the teams who have perennially inhabited Prem and Prem B are a testament to that fact.

Anyway, the pooh bahs at the VAFA, and the overwhelming majority of the clubs I'd suggest, are for it. So the silver tales will just have to be content with their whining.

Some have and some still do. And assume you've never played in the VAFA based on that comment! Jobs and leads are as good as cash and have you seen who has pumped $$$$ into SKOBAFL over the past few years to get the likes of Waite, Jamar etc etc? He's on the Swiss Alps as we speak, but will be "mentoring" at the Sorrento in a few months.

SKOB and Uni have certainly had the last laugh. Brilliant flags. They have worked hard at recruiting and the results have been magnificent. Using your network for jobs and leads is nothing like cash. Cash is cash.

Where is Hippster when you need him? I remember that even before the season had finished last year they had headhunted SSS like he was Alistair Clarkson. Given he hadn't won a final for five years, I thought at the time- why the vigorous pursuit? He was appointed very early and along with the biggest recruiting drive they have ever had, were confident of success. Unfortunately, they did drop off losing the last four games but they nearly won the second semi. They ran into what most agree are two pretty talent laden sides and simply weren't good enough, so not sure Alistair Clarkson himself could have done much. To me, if this is true, it appears it is the old guard who think it is their right to win not are facing up to the fact that there are some new kids on the block who are better and they are no longer the unbeatable powerhouse they were. Also, their school team , incredibly, hasn't won the APS since 2003.
 
They sacked him because he didn’t win the flag. I’ve got news for OX and Shawy, you lost the prelim to a bunch of teeny boppers by 65 points. You can’t win the flag if you don’t play in the Grand Final.
They won’t win next year either.....
 
Not much I can add. I’m as inner sanctum at the Claret & Stout as you are Captain. LOL re APS schoolboy reference. I’m sure Xavs, along with SKOB and Blues, as the three most recent A grade Premiership winning clubs will be at the pointy end next year again. Time will tell who wins Briza, but I’m sure it will be an exciting year for all involved.

why the Lol at aps reference? It does reflect the quality of the kids coming through and the fact some in the community can't accept that the old days are gone-the school isn't a football powerhouse anymore as it once was and given it is the chief recruiting ground for the club, surely it is relevant.

Apologies..you are right. Looking forward to watching Rowell and Anderson lift the Carey Panthers back up to A Grade for season 2021..

lol...thought you were above sarcasm. 25 years ago, xavs were known as the "football" school and as a result parents with good footballers wanted them to go there....not anymore. Donati's kids at skevs as are many other excellent players that years ago would have been at xavs ( including many old xaverians who send there kids to skevs yet I can't think of one case the other way. The old guard need to face the new reality that wasn't the case when they went through.

It's irrelevant how successful the school goes. They won the U19 Flag last year and runners up this year! Just saying

I reckon the old guard couldn't care less, thervve obviously had there time don't you reckon. You'd think it's the new age who should give a hooter? And why does everyone bring up the school team. They've been horrid for years and they seem to produce fairly handy players. Don't the Geelong schools now run rampant at APS? Look where the old boys are sitting!!
 
Considering talent wins flags, I’d go as far to say the head coach is putting magnets on the board in the VAFA, at least for the top teams. So doesn’t really matter whose at the top. OXAFL clearly the 3rd best team in 2019. Which will remain the same next year. SKOBAlmuni and their consistency is to be applauded. Whoever recruits the best and has the most talented 22, regardless of age profile, wins. Schools don’t matter at all.

The old guard couldn’t give a rats tossbag. You don’t understand the APS.
The Kings arent gonna bring Haileybury back up. APS flags don’t flow to Ammos. Scholarships win APS flags.
Xavs always have kids from school flowing into Ammos. Hence why they do so well in the Unders. They are all school kids playing together.
Don’t let any hate of Xavier upset you. Yes all and sundry were handed their ass on a plate by them in decades past. So what. See a councillor if you can’t let it go. Most have and just now enjoy life.

Oh dear...the old guard are still the powerbrokers at your club so they do give a toss. I don't understand the APS? That's an irony....the scholarship kids are often on Vic metro duties when the school team plays so they often don't help them win. I can cite you examples if you want....it may be you who doesn't understand the APS. Unless the vic metro games concicide with you having a weaker side to play, you can be in trouble. I never played against xavs so no scarring for me but nice try.
