Give it a rest, we all know it was a scam and to be honest a disgrace that the Xavier STUDENT was a 6 pointer yet if you had a piss in the dunny at RMIT you were deemed a 1 point player for Uni Blues. I mean, in what world does that make sense? WHAT.A.JOKE. It's the VAFA version of Murali, whoever made the ruling should be sacked with a 'never to be employed again' mark on his file.
Interestingly it was ex Xav Mick Sholly who made the ruling regarding the 1 point uni fiasco.

What a great pick up by the Colls. Many of their players were disheartened with the club's recruitment strategies in the past, I'm sure they will be happy with this one!
Bizarre/shocking take IMO OP. Two one-goal grand final losses in the last 3 years, with Hunt, Burbury, Dixon, Waterman and Anthony Bruhn being crucial to their finals' runs. Not sure how it could be disheartening. Morgan and Mirra are huge additions either way. Recruiting has been pretty decent from the outside looking in. If it weren't for SKOBAlumni and UNIAFL being once in a generation sides they'd probably have a couple more flags. They need a dominant ruck and a fit W Johnson.

Possibly, maybe, perhaps, perchance, could be.... the 2nd worst player ever to make it at AFL level, er, in the mind of a reincarnated poster who purports to have played at the elite level.

On a serious note, the Wesleyans seem to be putting in the hard recruiting yards. Looking like an interesting 2020 as Hipps crowd are apparently out and about and London to a brick so are AFL/SKOB.

And F the rest of the comp.

Great player, should be similar to Matt Thomas at OM’s.

It's ultimately an affluent old boys/uni comp at the top. Can't see a district club getting to Prem in the foreseeable future, let alone consolidating there. Not sure how to make the comp less skewed. Limiting the number of ex AFL recruits would meet with an outcry and I don't see offering district clubs points concessions will do much to level the playing field either.

I'm sure the usual suspects from the affluent old boys outfits will make the usual 'work harder' calls without any real appreciation of the challenges district clubs face.

Is anyone asking the question "what happens to the pathway players?". Not sure how many lads from 16-18 school years are gracing the turf down at Collegians and they are very skinny in talent at school beyond their top 3 players each year. Xav's seemed to give it a bit more of a go this year but the cupboards are pretty bare coming out of school and they will revert to a win now ethos. Skobs may lose some of the boys under 22 who are not getting senior opportunity and their 19's have fallen off a cliff. Let us give this current arms race 3 years and see what happens to those that are currently most invested in the battle. Current decisions have future consequences.
I reckon Willy and Fitzroy are establishing a pretty strong cohort.

The fact you could only come up with two district clubs goes a long way to proving my point.

I'd be delighted if the Roy boys became a powerhouse. However, the fact is it's been spoken about since the days of Dyson Hore-Lacy and it's never eventuated. Even what appeared a positive move to affiliate with the Uni failed. Just can't see it in the foreseeable future.

The upside for Williamstown CYMS is the arrangement they have with their VFL namesake, but they have to prove themselves in Prem' B' before any serious thought should be given to making it to Prem 'A', let alone consolidating there. With - I'm told - an aging list the elevation to Prem 'B' might test them.

Just curious at what average age do you class a team as an aging list?
