The early vote for the worst bloke in VAFA football for 2021 has to be Ed Vickers-Willis. Not only was he first 18 captain at Melbourne Grammar but he was also school captain!

HTF can he play for Uni Blues? Either OM’s stink or he stinks, and we all hate OM’s but this is a low act, I almost feel bad for them.

One of brothers is a past club captain at Uni Blues and other brother played there as well.

Shockingly bad take. Didn’t realise school kids were zoned to their old boys. Just imagine if he had extensive family ties to Blues, or is that not enough? Hope OM’s don’t have non old boys or Melbourne Uni students amongst the ranks.
Uni clubs are full of players from schools with old boys who might not like the “click”. Literally everywhere.

He has been a full-time AFL player until he was delisted in November 2020 so would not have been studying full-time at the Uni.
How do you know if he was studying during his days at NM ? Each AFL player is entitled to a day off per week as part of their enterprise agreement. They are a quality family that’s all I will say.

Anyone see the De La vs OS praccy today? Curious to see where the clubs are at.
WG - Was not at game but told Scotch won seniors by a couple of goals and De La the 2s by about 4 goals. From all accounts a pretty scrappy game and De La surprised they got so close as they fielded a much weaker side then they did last week against UB. Can only assume the oppo similarly under strength as it seems to be the "wedding season".

Very hard to read much into practice games. Clubs take a very conservative approach to those with minor niggles and still have blokes vying for VFL spots and involved in practice games. Last weekend of cricket for a few comps also. General consensus seems to be Scotch will battle in A grade and De La should go ok in B but would not read much into today’s result.

Collegians played Northcote Park and beat them by around 8 goals.

Always hard to read practice game form, especially with a blokes being out of the game for 12 plus months due to COVID.

You Collegians boys are funny. Have you seen the huge units Uni Blues have recruited in Grimley and Goddard?

There’s also a 6ft 8 former number one draft pick premiership player in his prime who is the most expensive player in AFL history playing in the comp with his team mate mate Jarrad Waite.

Cool the jets on Collegians, we are all on your side in terms of taking down Uni Blues and their absurd list build and structure, but usually you guys talk a big game and don’t win anything when it matters.

Thanks Glorious One - our club is the only foundation club still running around in the VAFA and we have won more A grade flags than any other club.

Also, over the last 10 years (2010-2019), Collegians have played in 6 A grade grand finals for only 2 wins (2011 and 2012), which does haunt us, however considering the vast legions of players available from all boys schools and the numbers at Wesley College, Collegians have punched above their weight as a club and will continue to do so. It's a bloody great effort to have been at the upper-end of Premier section for so long despite the challenges of having a co-educational school feeding through.

In comparison you only have to look at the yo-yo clubs like Old Haileybury, Old Carey, Caulfield Grammarians namely have done over the last decade from A-C section. These schools also have the added issue of having co-ed feeder schools. Even strong clubs like St Kevin's spent the first 6 years of the last decade in B grade before showing their powers in Premier section, meanwhile OMs and Old Scotch have had stints in B grade over the last decade on more than one occasion.

The Lions will always continue to fight on proudly as a club and it's a testament to the great people down there that the club is still at the top of Premier section despite having impediments that other clubs don't have!

I love your passion Mike. By the way, is Olotripo your real last name? I hope not 😂

My message to you and the other 8 clubs in Premier, it’s really important that Uni Blues do not win the premiership, otherwise we are in danger of WRFL joke competition.

Common sense should dictate that anyone coming from the AFL in the future is a designated 6 point player, regardless of prior affiliation. Otherwise this comp is ****ed.

Deer Park, good on them for doing well for so long. Let's see how they go now that a few of their players have left.

Same principle applies to Uni Blues. It took them having a bevy of ex AFL recruits to win Premier section after being perennial chokers and pretenders over the previous 15 years.

Also, they are quite beatable as proven by the mighty Collegians when with half our side out injured we managed to beat them on their own ground in 2019 thanks to a scintillating performance from some of our younger players.

Strange heckle. What's the stat about Xav's or Collegians playing in the GF in the last 30 years. Would have thought those two clubs have a fair few runs on the board.

Old Xavs are in crisis, they haven't won a flag since all the way back in.........2016! What a great club they have been and still are.

I would dispute the statement that Collegians have won more A Section flags than any other club.
The centenary history of the VAFA states that the first A Section premiership was in 1923.
The premiers between 1892 and 1922 are simply listed as premiers., no mention of A Section.

They have a pretty strong outfit in 2021. Think Xavs will be there on GF Day

Just a reminder of the last game they played.

Who will they be playing in your humble opinion? I know SKOB only lost A Lynch and B Lloyd from that team whilst they and have added three full time ex AFL players including the massive T Boyd, who apparently destroyed Blackburn last Sunday as well as a handful of ex full time VFL players.

As also mentioned here by the Collegians tribe, they are looking super strong whilst I believe OM’s with the great Kornel Dachs on board and Old Brighton will be much improved.

I also believe Caulfield with B Eddy and J O’Rourke and their other gun recruits will be really strong as well. Add Uni Blues in as the 19th AFL club and it’s going to be a super tough competition for finals spots.
