Just wondering which AFL player that's any good, didn't make or have any chance of making connections through the AFL ranks prior to bring lured to the VAFA on that belief?I think many will and currently do. Blokes who come through exclusive private schools (particularly those who parents are reasonably well heeled) are less likely to go to the suburban leagues for a few bucks I think. Many will favour using the networks available within large Ammo clubs to progress a professional career or business opportunity.
Unfortunately the AFL has less and less Dougie Hawkins and Fev types....more and more Christian Petraccas... I ask you would he play for OB or a local club?
Many AFLs players coming to the VAFA had modest careers (A modest AFL career would be the stuff of my dreams!!); but the main point is the connection when playing in the AFL as a full time career is very different to a relationship when you are working full time and playing football on the side. Josh Tynan is an example from a SKOB point of view.Just wondering which AFL player that's any good, didn't make or have any chance of making connections through the AFL ranks prior to bring lured to the VAFA on that belief?
I hear its McKennaJoyce (ex Coll coach) hat in the "ring" at OB.......Should be a "certainty"...
From Mr Wallis’ point of view, I hope not, from a SKOB point of view, he won’t play anywhere else, if he should decide to play.Could we see Mitch Wallis in the tri-colours of SKOB in 2023 now that he has departed the Western Bulldogs?
I hear its McKenna
He's replacing a bloke who has gone to OrmondSo David Buttifant is headed to TP next year as head of fitness I'm told.
His son plays for Ormond and has been at TP for 12 years , is that fair enough OTPPoaching by Ormond??? Say it ain't so!!!
Was at Old Ivanhoe where his son played. Was also at Bundoora in NFL.He's replacing a bloke who has gone to Ormond
Dan Donati is the new Old Brighton coach. He seems to have had success wherever he has gone as a player and coach, so it's a good appointment by the folk down at South Road.
I expect them to be very very competitive next year at the top end of the table.
Plenty of home grown talent coming off the Brighton Grammar conveyor belt though!Successful at Balwyn...thinking the salary cap at South Rd High might be a little less....

Pat Hayes, long time Uni Blues swingman has also retired, so add him to the list. It seems most clubs have been pretty quiet on the recruiting front from 4-5 years ago. Some player movement news:

I haven't heard anything down at Collegians about recruitment, but I'm almost certain that the majority of our senior group will be going again in 2023.

Utility or swingman, whichever way you look at it. He was a very consistent player for a long time. He had a run with Collingwood VFL back in the day as well.Swingman , my god times have changed , do you mean utility
Has anyone seen the VAFA Premier team of the year that was published? Whoever is responsible for putting that team together must be legally blind, imagine having just two of the premiership team included, and one of those is on the bench!Utility or swingman, whichever way you look at it. Four Collegians players were included, well done to David Mirra, Kenny Ong, Sam Sofronidis and Matt Warren. Four stars of the competition and club.Has anyone seen the VAFA Premier team of the year that was published?
