Donuts has signed for two years at OB. His fire and brimstone meeting obviously worked a treat this week as well.

The smell of finals is in the air, time to get serious.

Forfeit again by Caulfield in the twos. If they forfeit again this week the % skobs got a few weeks ago is going to be telling in the race for top 4.

Skobs starting to get things right at the right time of year! Still think they are the team to beat.

The most interest in these last few rounds is going to be at the bottom end.

Looking at the relegation battle: -

7.Old Xavs--------------24------100.18%. (Uni Blues, Old Haileybury, Old Brighton)
8.Haileybury------------20------76.66%. (Collegians, Old Xavs, St Kevins)
9.Old Melburnians------20------71.89%. (St Kevins, Uni Blues, Caulfield)
10.Caulfield--------------4------48.20%. (relegated)

Xavs percentage will likely get them across the line, even if they don't win another game. Haileybury in a difficult spot with OM's having Caulfield in their last game, which might be all they need to win to keep them up.

Yet they rolled out an U/19 Prem side that won by 6 goals.

The VAFA have to stop this happening, roll players up and forfeit your lowest ranked side. Simple as that.

It's embarrassing that Prem clubs can't field a 2nd XVIII every single week.

Based on that OH will need to beat someone....perhaps Xavs their best chance...alas Xavs look safe even if they dont win another game which is absolutely possible. If OMs can beat SKOB and OH beat OC this week it will make an awesome finish (assuming Xavs lose this week). Very very unlikely but not impossible.

The OB coach must be tearing his hair out. With all their players back, they win a close one over Colls (beat them twice this year ) and yet will not make the Finals...It is absolutely ridiculous. Start of season 24, he should demand all Senior player to hand over their passports. If they dont, refuse to play them

That approach will definitely work and lead to a prosperous club... I assume you are joking FF but these players are all giving up the opportunity to earn serious cash and coming off COVID. If the young men want to experience Europe in the summer then the clubs just have to embrace the opportunity to play other players. Of course it's tough but the coach is paid...the players are not. People dont react well to ultimatums.

Perfect argument for the 2 week mid season bye.

Good little summary here Penski. I'm tipping OX to go 0-3 to end the year, with OH beating them as they go 1-2 to end the season and OMs will beat Caulfield in the last round, so I think that as you said, percentage will be important and OX will stay up by percentage.

OMs had a nice little boost on the weekend percentage wise too with a good win over OX.

I didn't make it down to South Road on Saturday, but it seemed that the lions were outplayed around the contest on the video footage I watched. Having Michie do a calf (not too bad) early on hurt us a fair bit. Let's hope Viv is right to play again in a few weeks as he is a star of the competition and a wonderful person in how he plays football in a hard, but very fair manner.

I think Collegians will bounce back against OH this week though and hopefully we regain Mirra, Mayhood and Woodfull who all didn't play on the weekend.

Totally agree it's f'd my mob

MIO of course I am...

That's also the way a short sighted club would operate - IMO. Play the long game here and have key people - coaches and committee - understand that's what's happening.

We have had to suck it up this year and embrace/understand the environment we are in right now. That will change over the next couple of years and as such you want those players coming through your mens and womens programs .... at some stage.

Chump 🏆

SKOB to win in a very close one.....OMs with the troops back and fighting for their lives.
OB to win with a leg in the air
Blues to win and potentially make relegation interesting
Blacks to continue their form and help out SKOB
OC to get back to their winning ways

Old Brighton by plenty over Caulfield
Collegians to defeat Old Haileybury
Old Scotch just over Uni Blacks – wouldn’t surprise if Blacks get up though
SKOBs over OMs who have a few key players back
Uni Blues over a struggling Old Xavs

Old Brighton over Caulfield Grammarians
Collegians to return to winning ways against OH at the Trott
Uni Blacks to take the scalp of Old Scotch at the Uni
SKOB to win against OMs sans their VFL players this week. Seaton (captain of Sandy) is a handy in this week with Sandy having a bye in the VFL
Uni Blues to cement a top two spot with a win over Old Xavs

Interesting fact, by the end of this round, SKOB will have debuted 15 players in season 2023.

Good stat, Collegians have debuted nine players, two of whom have previously played A grade before, still a good number of debutants for a side playing finals.

Always interesting to see how many players teams use over the course of a season. Looking at the season to date: -

Uni Blues - 36 players used in the seniors, 3 players have played every game
Uni Blacks - 36 (7)
Collegians - 37 (4)
Old Haileybury - 39 (4)
Old Scotch - 41 (6)
St Kevins - 42 (5)
Old Brighton - 49 (1)
Old Xavs - 50 (2)
Caulfield - 50 (2)
Old Melburnians - 54 (2)

Uni Blacks have had the most consistent team so far with 7 players having played every game this season, while OB, OX, Caulfield and OM's clearly having to churn through a lot of players, with little consistency in the teams across the season.

How is it possible that Blues and Blacks have used the least amount of players, playing on that shit heap every second week? The mind boggles.
