What surprises me with the 3 you mentioned Mr P, is that they are "all boy" schools...I thought they would have the numbers etc..clearly not.
Maybe their football numbers are down due to Basketball and Soccer...I dont know. What I do know, is that it is imperative to have a healthy, vibrant connection between the School and their respective Ammo Club. If I have this wrong, tell me..
Sorry, I know you’re Wesley, I meant old mate who coached the SKOB thirds to a flag, Jimmy Jack, who’s a De La bloke.

Re the connection, it’s more the old boys putting work into the year 12’s and 11’s, not so much the school itself.

Most schools pay scant regard to the old boys clubs, they’re so damn busy looking after the kids which rightfully so, are their first second and third priority whilst at the school.

Jeepers - private system bitching about who 'gamed' the system better re scholarships! WT? Tell me about your pain guys .... and then play with NO school advantage at all in the current VAFA!

Personally, and it's just my opinion, I think it's time for our club to move as the stacked disadvantage for a club in our position is becoming untenable. 😉

Chump

Miller was scholarship and so was T Liba. Quintessential pot calling the kettle black
You’re still firing blanks, Touk Miller did not attend St Bernard’s College.
Nor did Libba, he went to SKC from grade 5 with his best mate Wallis.

So again, please name ONE kid from St Bernard’s College! I’ll wait…….

Your right re: old boy clubs and staff. My school has staff members who are imbedded with their Ammo Club. It is an ideal situation, Members of the 1st XV111 come down and train mid season etc, some have played, when available...It helps them get a feel for where they can play after their school days

I think you will find he is training at Collingwood VFL at the moment.
hmm, is he training to get one of the last spots on list?
he is on Keilor East website and in clearances. If at pies VFL, why not stay at Xavs and play there when not picked by pies?

Hey Mike Olotripo, just been confirmed via another pies player to me that Ben is playing with collingwood 2s this year. thanks for the heads up

Rumour has it that a new recruit to OH has a new Ford Ranger
Just like when Jay Schulz, who was never getting divorced and was/is still very much happily married, was getting a divorce and his wife’s lawyer was an Old Xav?
Maybe he needs a new brick fence like Doulton Langlands did 😂

Disagree with the comment re schools giving zero f×cks about old boys clubs.

OXFC and Xavier College are working together seeing the old boys have no ground this year, and are training and playing there in 2023.... Both investing money into facilities such as lights etc Good investment by the old boys to keep the club home grown as much as possible me thinks.

As a former college boy and now a suburban club supporter, I am a little envious of what some can do, whereby many suburban clubs find it difficult. I have a foot in both camps. I am not speaking of any dishonesty.

Suburban clubs don’t have notable accessible connections that old collegians football clubs have, however, many ‘non-aligned college’ suburban clubs are thinking seriously about it.

I understand that college-aligned clubs also work hard in encouraging current students to ‘stick around’ and play with their (former) classmates, as they should. Such young players are torn between their colleges and their junior suburban friends.

There’s a very old proverb: ‘the harder you work, the luckier you get’.

I think you will find it is becoming harder and harder to get most kids to play sport as adults now post leaving school in an organised environment, so whether it is at a local club or an old boys club, I think that's far better than nothing at all.

Most clubs have decent connections with the school / school side otherwise they simply would not survive.
