im thinking of trading luke ball for dal santo or foley for richo? opinions?

Im going either Selwood > Ablett or Bartel > Ablett. Not sure on which one to go with.

I got rid of Hodge but it got me Gilbert and Leon Davis for Garlett. My forward rookie on the field was costing alot of points a game as was hodge lol.All in all was the right move and i still have 140K in the bank.

The right move ? lmao

Hodge is definitely not living up to his high price in the first two rounds, but you've gotta know that he will. Hodge is the sort of player that you commit to for the season, not 2 games. It doesnt matter if his price goes down, because he is a premium that you dont trade. When finals time comes around, ill be glad to have Hodge sitting there scoring huge.
You will probably do a rookie downgrade and then upgrade gilbert to get him back. Thats 3 trades for 1 player!!!

Why you had Garlett to begin with im not sure, but trading him out after he played 2 games has got to be a bad idea.

(bloody collingwood supporters )

Ha! Ha! Gold! Good stuff mate! :D:thumbsu:

Hodge is a tough one though it's hard to justify keeping him at the price when you know he's going to drop next week, and you could downgrade to anyone who is currently doing better and use the capspace for a better upgrade somewhere else (puts forward a good case for picking him up in the 1st place haha)

However I think the number one problem is that given Hawthorns injuries he is having to play accountable in defense due to the Hawks being severely lacking in that department and therefore negating his 'loose man' role, looks like it will continue given the state of the Hawks injuries.

Well i finished 1512th last year and am 3000th at the moment.I will take my chances with having some idea what i am doing. And read the post above this, this guy understands why.His point is exactly why i did it.This had nothing to do with if hodge will score 100+. He won't go close until the Hawks get their defence back up and running for him to play that role.

I wouldn't expect a bomber to understand
All offence no idea about defence.

ablett will drop, just need to wait a few weeks... if that
Even if he does drop, it's doubtful that he'll dip below $600K at any point during the year, is it really worth the wait for $100K (give or take)? He doesn't even need to score 100 to break even this week so don't hold your breath. Anybody who didn't take Ablett at the start of the season really just has poor fantasy judgement.

Without analysing if your trade options were correct, trading prior to teams getting named makes you silly, regardless of it you're ranked #50 or #50,000. ;)

3. When Gilbert is ave 90+ and davis 110+ after round 8 and Hodge is still in the mid 70's i will be proven right.

This comment reeks of inexperience. Have you even considered who St Kilda, Collingwood and most importantly Hawthorn have played in the first 2 weeks?

All premiums will have a couple of "bad" games in a row. It just gets more attention when it happens in the first 2 games of the year.

Anyone wasting a trade on trading out a fit Hodge is out of their mind, and has no foresight to round 22 whatsoever.

Umm, wow.

Not the best trade Ive seen, but good luck with it mate. :thumbsu:

true, but all you're going to see this week is a whole lot of extended benches.

Ablett wont drop any time soon and you could be waiting another 5-6 weeks if not more for him to drop and by then he wouldve have outscored any of your captains scores by as much as 1000 to 1500 points which could put you a long way behind.A lot of people who havnt got Ablett probably chose Bartel and would have had him as captain in the 1st 2 weeks and the difference between having Ablett as captain and Bartel as captain in the 1st 2 weeks has been about 200 points already in Abletts favour

The standard approach used is to select a number of premiums, a bunch of medium priced players we hope will improve and a bunch of cash cows.

We usually hang on to the premiums, upgrade the mediums (that have not lived up to our expectations) to premiums and use the cash cows to finance the upgrades.

This is a successful approach. It is not the only successful approach. So if someone announces that they are going against conventional wisdom - please don't ridicule them. The approach may work. In fact it may be inspired - a pure stroke of genius. Lets wait and see how the numbers add up please.

Anyone found ridiculing another poster is in danger of a ban.

Repeat offenders may lose more than that.

Yeah +1 for that. Trading on monday either means your really really keen, or really stupid, or both
