"Former rower Bond’s running, namely his ability to push through the pain barrier, is said to have impressed the Crows’ coaches.

Dowling being able to find space and Michalanney’s long reach caught the eye."

"Boom recruit Izak Rankine’s class is standing out – not simply because he is wearing a fluoro hat to indicate he is to avoid contact.

The former Gold Coast Sun, who had a shoulder operation post-season, took a nice mark in one drill, then linked up brilliantly in another with Josh Rachele and Taylor Walker.

In match simulation, Rankine sliced through his opponents, shrugging off Brayden Cook on the boundary before hitting a leading Walker on his chest.

“He’s going to be pretty phenomenal,” Keays said.

Rachele was also wearing a fluoro hat and was just as brilliant during a five-on-five handball drill, constantly evading defenders while seeming to be in two places at once."

Hard nut Luke Pedlar was with the As and small forward Ned McHenry with the Bs in the most noteworthy team selections during match simulation."

surely you can't take much out of match sim when someone can't be physically impeded.

"Helmet-wearing Hamill looking good."

Jerry Seinfeld: There are many things you can point to as proof that the human is not smart. But my personal favorite would have to be that we needed to invent the helmet.

What was happening, apparently, was that we were involved in a lot of activities that were cracking our heads. We chose not to avoid doing those activities but, instead, to come up with some sort of device to help us enjoy our head-cracking lifestyles.

And even that didn’t work because not enough people were wearing them so we had to come up with the helmet law. Which is even stupider, the idea behind the helmet law being to preserve a brain whose judgment is so poor, it does not even try to avoid the cracking of the head it’s in.

Not a fan of wearing a helmet I take it?

Having seen a few training sessions the standouts this year besides the obvious have been worrell until injured, Pedlar who looks incredibly fit, junior who looks more confident with his movements and berry.

Also liking nank and borlase development
Junior maybe the most exciting, god we need someone with his skill firing.

I actually think we've sneakily done a lot to address our void of highly skilled players in quick succession.

In few offseason's we've added best 22 players Rankine, Rachele, Dawson, Soligo and Thilthorpe who are all highly skilled for their position. We've also gotten games into skilled players like Cook and Sholl. And given probably more games then deserved into Milera last year. Add Taylor too that mix and we've essentially added 8 or so new players + Milera to our mix with well above average footskills .

Now it's just about harnessing it into a package that can maximise the damage against the opposition

If I were the Crows, i wouldnt let him play without one. Just screaming for a lawsuit later on in life.
Has had some truly rotten luck that kid. TBH I'm on the fence about how I feel. Would love to see him get a good run at it, but just at the point where I cringe everytime he's in a contest.

Can't imagine it would be fun for his family to watch him go out there either.

He still looks overweight in some of vision and photos seen .
Just feel he is not going to be the star he tantalised us with those early moves in career.
We just need some of our 1st round picks to really produce like him ,Pedlar,TT, Jones ,McCasey,Rachelle even Doedee to stay fully fit to fulfil our draft commitment and achieve results we should have with so many top picks

Is Keays basically saying he only played forward due to injuries?

Yes.

He was only playing because we were aiming for finals... which were mathematically impossible.

Awkward - who’s gonna tell him?

MR: Where’s footy heading in 2023?

LB:
There’s no doubt the appetite around the financial pieces to the game have influenced the spike in performance. The AFL will tell you they are about two things, the broadcast and who’s watching, and the gate, and everything else matters but not compared to those two. So, when it comes to your own club, what matters is your membership and your supporter base, and what sort of football they’d like you to play, and your corporate partnerships and whether they are proud to be on your apparel and be worn by your constituents. When I first started, I already had that appetite of risk (football), we played a pretty ballistic style, and clubs have just continued to push the boundaries on that. Everyone is influencing each other, and each year one or two teams are doing it better than the others.

MR: So, what’s next?

LB:
Clubs will continue to challenge each other with speed, and that’s what people like to watch.
