Some off the top of the head observations:
Billy Dowling skinny as, but did some good things...a bit mixed but not bad for a newbie
Rankine stood out with his hat and class
Great to see Rachelle out there and performing
Hugh Bond pretty strongly built for an 18 year odd...Did OK
Cook does have a bit of height about him. Mixed session by him but seems on the improve
I have not pumped Schoenberg's tires but he was consistently good today.
Impressed to see Sloane out there at times.
Max M a bit sloppy at times by foot, but hey, he's just cutting his teeth.
Murray looked good both as a specimen and by what he did. Another one who I have not pumped but who may well be on the up. I do like Jordan B and he did what he needed to today.
Number 3. Not on my list of players. Tallish. Is this Tyler Brown? I did notice his relative height.
44 Gollant. O, Golly. He is skinny as, still! Maybe even skinnier. Where best to play him? High half forward? Perhaps a wing? Will have to do something special to survive this year ends cut.
Good to see Doedee out there. Will he be next year? I'm yet to be convinced.

McHenry: B-, some very good stuff and some not great stuff
Murphy: C+, completely fine but that's it
Crouch: B, some proactive kicks that opened the play up, seems fitter and faster
Jones: B+, some very good kicks and handballs but he was mostly on the opposite side of the ground
Sloane: N/A was mostly doing wholesome stuff with the kids
ROB: F, tapping to the oppo and failing to take a single mark

Still a month to before the pre-season supplemental selection period closes on February 15 so there's still time to bring someone in if we think they're needed. I'd think we'll have our eye on a couple of lads that didn't get drafted with the mid season draft in mind if they come on early in the season.

There's a bit of a trade off. You get to see more form, but have to wait in line and risk your preferred player going elsewhere.

Be better if we could have our considerations play in the SANFL for us and do a Jai Newcombe deal with the one we settle on.

I remember reading a story about a scout in American sports (think it was baseball), who used to make sure he got to meet the player’s girlfriend. If he thought she was average looking, it meant the player lacked confidence and wouldn’t make it in the big leagues.
Not exactly scientific, but an interesting way to look at it.

Just had a look at the new rules. While we can't add another marque player, we could add one 19 or 20-year-old SA player as part of the SANFL Rookie Program and I assume that we can add any undrafted non-SA player (like we did with Freeman last year)?
