Geez, thats possibly the most ridiculous reason for delisting players I have ever heard..

What finite resources, that could cripple the club if they run out, do these two lads supposedly consume?.

Please name a few or retract that nonsense.

Anyone that actually watches the SAnFL games would know that, whilst Borlase had a poor end to the season, overall he’s been half decent over the past two years, and he can pinch hit in the ruck (he even played full time ruck for a few games in 2021 when ROB was injured and Strawnie was plying AFL). He can also go forward. So he’s still pretty handy.

And Newchurch is a supreme talent with more speed than anyone at the club, has a good football brain, has tons of xfactor and some freakish abilities.. he also not only hits the scoreboard he’s bloody unselfish and plays a part in many of our sanfl goals often unselfishly dishing off a couple of times a game to team mates for easy goals that he probably couldve kicked himself.

Tariek was always going to be a slow burn but really shouldve played in the AFL last year if were honest as he definitely earnt it.. and Borlase is a second year KPD.. Young KPD’s can take 2/3/4 years before they really show their worth

Both lads are Cat B, have a heap of potential, and with no possible Cat B’s for the club on the horizon, will more than likely be on the list again next year..

If only people were as critical of some of our older guys like murphy, mchenry, keays, crouch and in recent time even sloane as they were these young lads.. its been some of these veterans that have spudded it up and cost us more than any of the players in recent years..

I mean, fxxk me… tarieks injured and most definitely wouldve been told to take it very easy today by the club medico’s and crew here are implying he’s lazy and thus is a bust because of it!..

For once, maybe some in here should turn this type of harsh critique towards the blokes in the team who cant even fxxkn kick ffs..

or the blokes that have been leading this team to the results of 3 bottom 5 finishes, one being a spoon, and no finals action for 5 years..the same blokes that still seem to regularly get a golden ticket regardless of how s**t they play.
Borlase looked awful in those sanfl finals and tariek way too inconsistent to ever get picked. They aren't getting a go this year either its time to move on. The reason I raised that is others have said doesnt waste a spot as they are catB but seriously they arent making it unfortunately.

Borlase may be one injury away from getting a go, seeing how thin our KPD depth is.

Tariek too, whilst it is getting more unlikely, could also string together a run of form to catapault him into being selected. Kids got talent, and it's not like Rankine or Rachele are permanent barriers.

At worse they're wasting a spot that only exists in special circumstances. They're not a hinderance.

Sounds like Rankine is gonna be more a mid than a forward..

Yup. My bet is we'll give the Shai Bolton thing a try for 6-7 weeks then abandon it to put Izak in as a full time mid.

Thanks to everyone for the training reports!! Was so busy today I forgot all about it. Only just had the chance to settle in now and have a read.

Sounds like a great day was had. Fairly big crowd in too! Probably larger than what we'll have with GWS round 1.

For the record, at times last season, Newchurch looked like the next Eddie Betts. That was a massive jump from the previous year where he looked like the next Joe Nobody. He hurt his groin I think late in the season and then was poor after that.

Borlase was terrible in the first half of last season. Used to make 2-3 howlers per quarter. By the end of the year he was down to 3-4 for the match. Is improving rapidly.

I'm glad both are still on the list. I won't be surprised if they're starting to push for spots by the end of this forthcoming season, Newchurch especially, but I think we'll keep both and it will be the following season when they start to come on.

One game last year against Sturt from memory he was excellent and showed some very good signs - he is 20 and costing us next to nothing

Don’t agree Nank might be able play just about anywhere but he’ll need a lot more muscle before playing on the inside
Agree he's body isn't up to it yet but hes actually looking really strong around the hips. I've never seen hately break a tackle like I saw nank do on Monday. I'd like to see him in the sanfl playing on the inside this year.

I don't think nanks kicking will ever be good enough to get a wing role in afl. I thought
his best games in the sanfl were hf, and I see his future as a mid-fwd role.

Cook on the other hand, kicking is beautiful. Think juniors he was a hb, got switched fwd and it got him drafted. We are trying to turn him into a wingman. I'm not so concerned with his contest stuff, was fine in 21. Watching some of the drills on Monday he looked fine and fairly fit this year. He's body has changed alot, not more puppy fat but hasn't started to bulk up. Imagine that will start to come next year.

The comparison I see is they are both project players that didn't go through the traditional development, and we need to be patient with them. If we can give Ben Davis 8 years on a list (2016-2022) I hope we can hold on to these guys.

I don't really get how Sholl found himself so horribly out of favour with the coaches. He's produced more quality AFL footy than most of our younger brigade. I guess he is a bit soft and that doesn't mesh well with Nick's style. Still, I'm a bit surprised nobody offered a trade.

nix needs our wingmen and half forwards to be contested beasts.

Totally agree. Sloane and Crouch in particular are the epitome of consuming resources compared to Borlase and Newchurch. Senior list spots, salary cap and midfield minutes that are all being used by 2 players that will never be in our next successful team.

No because experienced players like Sloane in particular teach and lead which means you need less resources

For those at training, does Fog look like he’s slimmed down? A couple of pictures they put out recently seem to show slimmer legs
I didn't notice any difference to him.
