Highlights and Observations:
1. Bont was exquisite with his handling and delivery. Just so balanced and poised.
2. Bailey Smith put on the after burners every time he took possession during match sim and was the line breaker of the session.
3. Naughton clunked a number of marks at full forward and took out about four opponents in one contest like they were bowling pins. He may kill someone (or himself,) one day. 4.
Tim English was best afield and controlled the air, land and sea. His upper body is now massive and he also finished 7th in the time trials a few weeks back, so he is in the very top of the class for fitness too. It showed in a dominant and clean display.
5. Jamarra was closely guarded by by Jones in a great contest. Jones took a number of intercept marks and looks a lock. Marra looks like an Adonis and second efforts were a feature.
6. Baker is lightening quick. Takes them on and will be in contention for the vacant wing spot.
7. Caleb Daniel spent time in the centre.
8. Keath looks back to his old self. Moved very well and competed hard.
9. Bruce on Lobb was a great sight. Bruce won plenty of the ball, but Lobb was always a threat. Kicked a beautiful goal, straight as an arrow despite the Braybrook hurricane.
10. JJ featured in many bursts on the perimeter and looks to have gotten himself in great nick.
11. Roarke was excellent - tackled hard and in everything.
12. Macrae was in the top three players. His balance and composure is second to none.
13. Buku played at full forward for the blue team. Kicked two goals in the 30 minute match and narrowly missed a third.
14. Garcia did his chances no harm. Was fierce and fast.
15. Richards, Bailey Dale and Williams all controlled the half backline with lots of run.
16. Caleb Poulter and Tyler Brown (both delisted by Collingwood) trained with us for the first time. Both impressed in match sim, with Brown particularly polished. Treloar was raving about him on the sidelines. There were six other non listed players training that I did not recognise, all presumably trying out for the last list spot.
17. Treloar, Gardner and Darcy did repeated 3/4-pace run-throughs over 80m distance. They all looked and moved fine, before completing some kicking and skills work. They are expected to return to full training after the break.
18. Weightman, O'Brien and Cleary also on modified program. Weightman also joined the main group and looked sharp. He did some speedwork also and is ready to resume.
19. Matt Spangher was the most vocal coach, preaching "composure" repeatedly and encouraging "instructional communication to force turnovers".
20. Bevo was warmly congratulated by the sprinkling of fans, staff and players alike.
