How my Saturday has been:
1. Saw an email that we had a game at Casey Fields today.
2. Drove to Casey Fields.
3. Realised it was a womens game.
4. Check the email, no mention of the game being a womens game.
5. Google mens practice game and realise its a few weeks away.
6. Jump in car and return home.
7. Mow the lawns.

It drives me crazy that the women's news seems to be always mixed in with the men's. They need to do a better job at separating the two. So many times I've clicked on a link(which is exactly what they want us to do) and thought it was an article or news item about the AFL, not this AFLW rubbish. I mean, 1 goal was enough to win a game of AFLW today!!! 1 goal! I don't care how trying the conditions were! A whopping 3 goals won our game today! There's more goals in a soccer game(which I have zero interest in also). If they ever want the women's game to take off, then find a way to have more scoring. I watched about 2 minutes of our game today in the final quarter, and the skills were still deplorable. If it's a good product, I'll watch it. This is not...

I watched about ten minutes of the game and never saw an inside 50. I still found in marginally entertaining.

Tricked? In what world do the men’s play practice games in the first week of February. Secondly it was probably stated in the email that you didn’t read correctly that it was AFLW. Thirdly it’s been all over the media this week bag AFLW was starting this weekend

Pretty hilarious the AFL are slamming everyone who criticized the AFLW as sexist. Basically AFLW is the macaroni drawing you stick on your fridge from a child and your not actually allowed to say it's rubbish.

I’m not sensitive about any of it, probably in the past I was in the 99% of criticising it. Hell I will still be critical of it at times but in a constructive manner.
I still play and coach local reserves footy, I see the game at that standard so I guess I watch the AFLW with my coaches hat on. Maybe with a view to get into coaching women’s footy.
But I don’t understand how getting an email about women’s footy is so horrifying.
The debate around women’s footy gets lost at the end of each extreme. I don’t care for people who are against it, likewise some/most of the praise for women’s footy is patronising. The sexiest card can easily dished out for any critique just as many people bag the sport because they are women.and because it is a less of a standard they shouldn’t be given an opportunity or the women are been given a free ride.
Do the women use the same ball as the men? Seems like they should be using a smaller ball and playing on a smaller field.

They use a size down from the mens.
Some games are played outside the major cities and those grounds are smaller than some of the major grounds the AFL men use
The league is 3-4 years old, the junior system has only be developing for 5 years. Before then girls played with boys up to under 13s and had no where to go, hence there is a vacuum of players who would be 25-30 years old. And why a lot of players have swapped from other codes. Some of the best players are the 19-20 year olds who have been playing since they were 10 and had a junior system to come through. The competition will improve greatly in the next 5 years

It's not just emails mate, often I've been on Fox sports or the AFL website and it will be an article saying 'Dees lose key player for a month' with absoloutely nothing to suggest it's the W game. It's 100% a trick to drive traffic
It's because rather than allowing people to organically find interest in the game it's absoloutely pumped down your throat so that you can't avoid it.
I also think it's more than fair to smash round 1 of that competition, they had 2 games with 8 goals total scored. That deserves to be critiqued in the same way GWS would have had an offseason of being smashed. No one pulled out the 'leave them alone card'
Women should be playing on a smaller field for sure. And I agree with AmericanAFL they should have a smaller lighter ball.

Once again who cares if they bait people into easing articles. “Key Dee does knee” and the article is about a AFLW player. Of all the things to worry about or get frustrated about.
