The scratch match is over with and was mostly revealing and successful.

Jack Henry the biggest concern - hope we see him by Rd4.

WE move onto the Lions up their way.

Will be a packed line up still even with a few missing still and there will probably be some load management still in play too.

They will be itching to measure up - after the last few times we've rolled them and they[ve added to their already quality list.

Plus.... we are now the hunted again.

But its preseason so lets not get too carried away.

Dont care win or lose, just play our way, get the cobwebs blow off and no injuries.

GO Catters

Brisbane are looking sharp. This will be good. I wonder if there's much experimentation going to happen here or we just go with the system we have.

I'm looking forward to seeing Sav against a decent forward line

I watched Brisbane play Sydney in the match simulation, and they look very good at this early stage, so this will be a far-worthier contest than the one against the Hawks. I still want the guys to play a bit bruise-free and not go all out for a win if it's close. Save it for the proper stuff.

Yep no point risking injury for a preseason game so go at 90% or so will be fine

Put some padding around Stanley and Ceglar. No more injured talls.
Ceglar is an interesting proposition this season fit again by the look of things and spent a good amount of time on the ground in the heat Thursday arvo never stared but did a reasonable job strong second efforts at centre bounces I like that, with him up and running the mind boggles with the opportunities that would open up for Scott to exploit oppositions even more so with Blits and Stanleys mobility around the ground.

With all of the injuries, a round 1 team is starting look clearer

FB Kolodjashnij De Koning Bews
HB Tuohy Ratugolea Stewart
C Smith Guthrie Holmes
HF Duncan Cameron Close
FF Rohan O.Henry Stengle
Fol Stanley Dangerfield Bruhn
Int Blicavs Z.Guthrie Parfitt Miers

My only really worry is our KPFs. We're going to have trouble if the opposition is able to pins us in our D50.

There may be no Cameron for round 1 also - Indi is due to give birth sometime between rounds 1 & 3, and he's advised that that'll be his priority even if it means missing a match

Bowes will play (if fit) in place of parfitt probably.
Sav (only if) Jack is injured.
Atkins will probably be in there.
Other than that i think thats the 23.
Menegola and a few others unlucky to miss out but we have depth.

I think it is more likely after the bye unfortunately. At least 3 months and then I reckon they build fitness into him.

Lucky we have depth but sad for him. Let’s hope it isn’t career impacting

Its interesting they havent released any info on his prognosis yet-maybe waiting for specialist opinion on surgery etc?

Probably (although frankly getting injury info out of geelong is like pulling teeth even in peak season mode!). I end up relying on my “track watchers” - although not always first hand.

This time around I think it is not good. Hard to make too much of a photo but in gallery they show him off the ground after the injury - the face looks despondent. I think it is exactly the same as last year injury - which is a greater concern

If feel like Bruhn, Parfitt, Dempsey, O.Henry, Ratugolea, Clarke, O’Connor, and Menegola are ones to watch as players looking to fill the 18-24th spot.

I've seen 3 photos of Jack leaving the ground none are encouraging.

Yeah i do agree that we are bad at giving injury info publically.
But i assume his scans would be back by now so if results were straightforward they would have said so? Hence im thinking it needs further specialist consult and they are waiting for an answer.
Given his history with foot injuries i agree we shouldnt rush him back-build him up slowly.

If you assume that the best 18 is
Hawkins
Stanley
Stewart
SDK
Blitz
Danger
Duncan
Cuthrie
Jezza
JHenry
Smith
Holmes
Close
Stengle
Miers
Atkins
Bews
Tuohy

Then you basically have
Rohan
Kolo
Zuthrie
Parfitt
Bruhn
Bowes
O Henry
Neale
Menegola
Ceglar (backup for stanley/blitz)
Sav (backup for kolo/j henry)
Moc
Dempsey
Simpson
Clark

Fighting for your last 5 or so spots.

On form I would take:

Rohan
Kolo
Zuthrie (who is a lock now)
Bruhn

Plus a med

You can’t expect me not to reply when you leave out my man Dempsey (drunkcat would wonder what was wrong with me).

I can only assume it was an oversight.

Sorry forgot about him. He along with rohan and ollie henry are competing for that last fwd spot (unless they drop miers which i think is unlikely).
