I love this club, like I said before I have been here since game 1. We are in some serious trouble of becoming a laughing stock and to avoid this we have to make some serious decisions.

Reading a lot of negativity which is far enough due to scoreline.

Decided to look at it with glass half full. Only 7 less scores than Freo on the day is a positive (Accuracy clearly a negative). Yeoy looked powerful and close to his best which is going to be so key. Others including Waterman, Chesser, Hunt, Long all played well i though.

Rawlinson cut form the same cloth as longy. Works super hard and pressures hard.

This second game, I am seeing good signs from Harry Barnett. His physicality a clear improvement. Super impressed with Harvey Johnston. Looks a natural Footballer. Has class and has probably had 10 - 12 touches in the first 35 minutes of play.

Burgeil I am not sure on. Good with ball in hand, but looks to me like he lacks competitiveness.

Too many Eagle fan boys on here that will never say a bad word against them.

Looked a long way off. 2 quality mids short at a minimum to compete.

I seriously don’t know how we didn’t have a back up plan when blokes like Dev fell over.

Can’t see how it won’t be a long year. Only positive was he had so many shots on goal for being that outplayed. Pity they couldn’t kick it through the right posts though

Who's talking us up this season?

Or next?

We in a rebuild.

I respect your passion. But we have already made some serious decisions or changes if you’d like. Turnover in of field staff, turnover in the playing list, from one of the oldest to one of younger lists, new fitness boss and staff, now new CEO.

This is a full on complete rebuild. I know we aren’t patient and conditioned to it, but it’s reality and it’s going to be hard for some time to come.

Just need to keep clinging onto the small signs of positivity and the hope and expectation that it will turn.

Of course, there are more decisions to come, primarily being the coach and again, if there is no real improvement then there will be a new coach, but for now it is a matter of hanging tough. Still looking forward to the season, whatever may be ahead.

The broadcast quality limits my understanding to some extent. But overall we looked smaller, slower and lacking an understanding of what to do without the ball - just cleaned up by a better team playing as a team. There is a lingering concern that we have over hyped too many players who are just good WAFL standard - but great in intraclub match sims against other low quality players.

Like your dedication but if you only thrive on success then don't follow footy.
We are one of, if not the most successful club , of the last three decades.
We have been up so long us supporters have forgotten humility to support when down.
Think Freo, still chasing a cup.

Remains to be seen but hopefully we can at least trouble a few sides and not be such a laughing stock.

Be happy with 4 or 5 wins and minimal floggings

Really you 2 its not a melt its reality,
Nothing has changed, from last year, do you think we are being sneaky and will come out all guns blazing in round 1.? I wish there was a dreamer thread where cum dunts would talk about how good we are. heck Sake

Well my two cents.

Yeah we got beat but i dont think we gave up. That's a positive.
It was disappointing not seeing Flynn out there. Not sure how serious the injury is. It could have been hamstring awareness and just a precaution so I'm not concerned just yet.
A lot of players looked flat footed at times as freo surged forward. That could be down to inexperience and lack of cohesion as a playing group. So something that can get better.
The backline looks very thin without both Barrass and McGovern playing. We need one of the young talls to really step up and be that rock when those two aren't both playing. Hunt is very good but doesn't fill that need. Cole was poor tonight. Witherden has heart but lacks awareness.
An improvemnt on last year would be not giving up during games. I thought during the preseason that the bar might be higher but I might have to settle on that.

I couldn't see the game, but from the clips that have been put up, our players seemed to be just going through the motions - just jogging along, whereas the freo guys were full steam. Very disappointing after the last 2 years. I for one expected a lot more.

Always hard to tell though. We’ve been the same for every preseason for the last decade. Would’ve been nice to see a bit more but next week and round 1 is the real measuring stick

Is it unfair to think that Waterman should be able to make the distance from shots from 50? He’s a key forward, not Andrew Gaff

There was a good period in the second quarter where we kept the ball in our fwd 50 for a while before scoring .

In close I thought we were hard at the contest but when it spread the freo players were streaming through and we werent in the right positions. I didnt think players gave up.
