Ive followed this team since the first WCE game and I can say now after last years poor effort and losing Shuey and Hurn we now have our worst ever list and not only won't we win 1 game but we will be called mid season to have put the game into disrepute. The AFL will step in after about our 5th 100+ point loss. People in here will say this a mega melt but bookmark this post mid season, we are so bad it is not funny. We won't win one game and it will go down as one of the worst seasons by any team ever in the history of VFL/AFL. I wish I could see some light but we have nothing, can't win the ball and can't kick goals if our life depended on it.

Bookmarking this but not for the reasons you asked me to

Barnett has been solid so far. Probably the best of our listed players

Absolutely bulldozed Knobel at one point

Ruscoe been good on Tabernacles. Would have no problem taking him in the MSD if/when we have a LTI

Also like the way Horsely is coaching from the sidelines

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for a few more positives out of our first scratch-match.

Still fumbly, making costly turnovers, kicking blindly into the forward line, getting carved up in the centre and allowing opposition forwards to run riot. We seemed to have added goalfront inaccuracy to our repertoire as well. I saw little sign of the faster ball movement we've heard about.

And it's peak post-2018 Eagles for Flynn to have looked like a great recruit in the off-season only to suffer a serious injury before the season starts and for Hough to have hurt himself in the last moments of a dead practice game (hopefully it was only cramp). A stark reality check of how far behind most of the competition we are.

Still, there were a few small positives:
  • Rawlinson tackling
  • Long is class whenever he gets near the ball
  • Waterman and Yeo were pretty good
  • Livingstone showed a little promise
  • Jamieson has improved
  • Hunt and Reid showing willingness to take the game on
2024 will be a season of searching for the green shoots. And speculating on what we'll do with our very early draft pick.

I ******* hate what we have become as a club, I'm one of the most passionate supporters and enough is enough. Simmo must go and we have to start targeting local talent, we have far too many non WA players collecting a wage.

Respect the passion mate.

I'm hopeful 2024 is the year West Coast and Adam Simpson divorce.
