Tim Kelly looks lighter hopefully he is over his knee and hip concerns he was not out there for long
Liam Ryan body is in the best Knick its been for a few years
Harley looks slimmer now
Reuben was training as a mid today looked comfortable has good hands
Archer Reid going to be a star we need to sign him up long term his movement below his knees is exceptional
and his kicking at goal in other sessions as been so good
Barnett was impressive again god his body is so different from last year
NGA's will train every wednesday session and before the training having meeting with the other younger boys in the natainui
academy
I spoke to Chris Brown he is someone you might not of heard of before but this guy is so important to the club
he works with all the nga's and father sons and academy kids
He said they have put so much work into these younger kids from age as young as 12 even and believe we will reap the rewards for next 5 years
Just the rewards for some kids of completing school and getting there high school diploma that wouldn't happen without the academy, makes me proud of the club
Jake Caton cant wait to watch his colts season he looks so good at training East Perth have to play him as a mid he is silky

New coach was the reset we needed…. group looks far more physically imposing and fitter.

On the way on the long journey up, after drowning not waving for a number of years.

Well, as long as we're not 'waving' like Elon, eh?

We definitely needed a new coach but the playing group’s physical appearance, imo, is a natural progression of the work done last preseason by Matt Inness and co

There was a shift in how the players were prepared under his supervision. Initially, it looked problematic with several players breaking down this time last year but were starting to see the dividends now

Part of that is pulling players out of training as soon as an issue arises so it can be assessed as they reintegrate the player into training. This also explains why we sometimes seem to have a lot of players in rehab (as noted by Bender_ earlier) as player management is cautious

Young fella had a game at Cottesloe last year. First ground I can recall seeing with genuine home ground advantage.

Our kids had no clue what to do with the wind.

Nice view at least.
I played there as a young feller. That was many decades ago but it sure was a home ground advantage. And the wind is even stronger nowadays thanks to the global warming thingy.

Cheers for the updates!

All great observations which I'm sure generate more than a little excitement about the upcoming season.

Feel free to dump all your opinions and views on who is TTHD this preseason - those of us out of state greatly appreciate it!

Really hoping the addition of a few extra senior players and the natural improvement of the youth will allow T.Kelly to get off the leash a lot more and hopefully avoid a tag - if he can get back to his 2019 numbers where he averaged 25 touches and a goal a game. He was also top ten in the AFL for clearances, score involvements and metres gained.

I feel like WC have some good assets, we just need to learn how best to utilise them.

Great ground I enjoyed a lot of games at - hypothetically each team kicks with, and into the wind for 2 quarters, so not exactly a home team advantage. No surprise all the scoring happens at the north end with a howling sea breeze at your back.

Love this.

Now can they actually play the new plan. Seems we have had the least match sim out of most teams. A lot of reports coming out about most other teams but just an occasional one from ours. (Not saying it wrong or late. In Mini I trust)

Forwards get pretty good at judging where to aim….

I would argue it should be a behind if it’s hit the goal post?

A top-tier academy is a crucial opportunity to gain a competitive edge.

Leading European soccer clubs are investing heavily in their academies, scouting and developing players as young as eight. Some even spend millions to recruit talent from other academies, knowing those players could be worth 50 times the investment within a few years.

FC Barcelona’s La Masia is a prime example. Renowned as the best academy in the world, it consistently produces world-class players. Many of their starting lineup come from the academy, saving the club tens or hundreds of millions in transfer fees.

Lamine Yamal, first scouted at six and now one of the most valuable players at just 17 years old, shows the impact of their system. La Masia emphasises not just sports but education and personal growth, ensuring players are well-rounded individuals.

For us, a well-executed academy could deliver similar benefits:
  • Draft Concessions: NGA players come with draft discounts.
  • Player Retention: They’re less likely to leave for interstate clubs.
  • Reduced Homesickness: Staying local reduces personal challenges.
  • Cost Efficiency: Academy players typically require lower salaries.
With strict player salary and soft coaching caps, building a strong academy is one of the ways to stay ahead. If done right, it can deliver outstanding ROI, both in developing talent and in strengthening the club’s future.

I have been saying that for a couple of years.

We have the capital, and I do not believe that impacts any Salary Cap conditions. It should be one of the few things we can bully the competition with.
