I wasn't having a dig at teachers - they're just a profession that have a lot of holidays. They've really stripped back the amount of time they can actually train in pre-season, while also doing everything they can to speed up the game. Also added an extra H&A round too.
I know, I wasn’t trying to give you a serve or anything sorry if it read like that.

living with one I’ve just become accustomed to the fact that whenever it’s brought up it’s defended with the rage of a thousand burning suns.

Good thing we've just added Graham and Baker. Ideal timing.

More so Graham in this case, but take them out and then remove Yeo from the first half of 2025 and our mid would look proper grim.
Yeah was just about to post this. Really need Graham’s body in there to protect the kids a bit. Yeo out both helps the rebuild and hinders it at the same time. Annoying that it means Kelly is more likely to stay inside

Yep. If Yeo is out, Graham becomes one of our most important players structurally IMO. The fridge in the middle.

Grade 3 MCL
Grade 1/2 Syndesmosis
Ruptured 2 other ankle ligaments

Potential further cartilage damage in knee. Will miss minimum first half of season imo.
thanks for the update, tough for Yeo.
Who would you be using to cover Yeo?
Probably not a 1 man job, Baker more midfield perhaps, Duggan more midfield minutes?

I have been really impressed with our preseason seeing how much fitter stronger the boys are.
Like that lots of individuals have improved including there skills
But I have real doubt about our game plan and how quickly it will take players to adopt it
This new style will make it harder for our leading forwards
Players like Liam Ryan will be important to kick the ball to leading targets as this new game plan
hasn't shown a great connection with the forwards at the moment

I think we will be bottom 2 with 5 wins at best
Just think its going to take a full season to get used to this game plan
I think especially early we are going to be poor and towards back end of season we start to improve
as the team adjusts to the game plan
Elliot Yeo missing early games will hurt as well
2026 i expect will be a year we really jump up the ladder

I'd say this opens the door for Hall and Hutchinson come round 1.

More so the latter. Would prefer this than throwing Duggan in there like some B grade bandaid. Or throwing out Ginbeys development again by chucking him on ball.

Let a young midfielder take on more responsibility for a time.

5 wins would be a nice return, Yeo hurts and our earlier games are more winnable than the back end, 6-7 would be a massive win but tend to agree 2026 would be our improvement year by 3-4 games plus, our bottom of the list has improved dramatically this off season.
16 place, I just don't see how NM improve above us, albeit improving on last year.

I agree other than I think we’ll see a couple more wins. Having ignored foot skills (Murphy Reid and Archie Roberts being the most notable) for two consecutive drafts I have real concerns about delivery into F50, particularly when combined with our lack of outside run and carry.

Our tall forwards are our strength and I have serious doubts that this style of play will exploit that. Another reason I’d like to target Kane Farrell as a free agent.

Now we know the extent of the injury.

I ****ing told you all. I held it all in.

Thanks for picking a half back flanker with a shit kick in Bo Allan. And Liam Baker another half back flanker.

We lost yeo. So now it's Tim Kelly is our best mid. Thanks alot.

We are now challenging richmond for the spoon.

Did we bolster our midfield stock offseason? NOPE.

Mark my words this is going to be as bad as melb under Mark need

The Yeo injury sux, but we're at a point where we should be moving away from an over reliance of him. We recruited Baker and Graham who have big bodies and can rotate through the midfield, we have young players looking to take the next step and a handful of draftees fighting for a spot.

As the Chinese say people - Crisitunity!

Nonetheless let's hope it's nothing too serious.
Wtf Baker. What copium are you on. The coach said Baker is a HBF full stop. Don't cope. What draftees are fighting for a mid spot. Our highest pick was a HBF with a shocking kick who is not a natural at touching the ball.

You know who would be good right now? SID ****ING DRAPER

There's a guy I sit near at the footy whom I've nicknamed Captain Hindsight.
I had no idea he had about 30 accounts on BigFooty...

The Yeo injury sucks, but hopefully he won't miss too much of the season.
When I first read about the extent of the iniury this afternoon, honestly my first reaction wasn't all doom and gloom. I was actually excited to see which of the kids will step up in his (hopefully short) absence.
We're not competing for a flag, or even finals. There's still some short term pain to get through before the (hopeful) major uptick, and this is unfortunately just part of that.

Well hell, I had been thinking 2-4 wins this year, finish 2nd last, but with almost no blowouts and a positive kids vibe.

And here’s me worrying about being the ultimate killjoy with all those overly optimistic posters thinking of a 9-12 finish.

Needn’t have worried ☝️
