Super late and rushed with work.

Missed opening the preview as we had a long weekend and lost a day... Thought Monday was sunday and that means it was reallyt Tuesday and thus no open preview thread.

Gameday is here.

Im 99% sure I cant watch and im gonna miss the VFL curtain raiser too so im just swell.

No Mannagh or Hardie.
Rohan and MOC back.

Ok. Harder bodies and expereince I guess.

Have at it - we need the win like I need a break.

Be good and get them home.

Hey guys, I'm flying down today to catch this but want to take my laptop so I can work on the plane/train - are laptops allowed into GMHBA? I couldn't see anything listed on the Prohibited Items but am paranoid about travelling so far only to get turned away at the gate.

You'll be fine

Basically everything is allowed now - as long as it's not made of glass

How much has the Cats line up changed since last time we met Richmond at home?

The only players running out in both matches (unless a late change throws Parf in) are Stewart, Kolo, Tuohy, and Zuth.

It doesn't feel like that long ago but our current Football Department and former recruiting boss is named on the wing, in a trend of Scotty sneaking defenders into all parts of the ground.

Is that AusKick Guthrie on the bench?

Thanks, that's a big load off my mind!

A few years ago they stopped people taking in refillable drink bottles with contents already inside, and then it was no bringing in metal drink bottles even when empty

Last year I bought a GFC drink bottle which is a metal one & was told I'd have no issues taking it in - when empty those things could do damage if you tried hitting someone with it or threw it. When it's full it would be even worse

They've eased off a lot of the restrictions over recent times in regards to what can or can't be brought into stadiums

Also, Richmond, despite injuries, has more players than us out there from that game with Rioli, McIntosh, Broad, Nank, Dusty, and Vlastuin.

Good question. Should be okay.
I read an amusing reply that said tell them your David Kings assistant.
Or a bit more palatable reason- your kid is playing at half time (pic, stats).
:)

If all else fails, leave it with the barman across the road.

According to AFL website:
Bombers scored from turnovers last week.

Dusty + Bolton (?) played forward.
Tigers’ swingman Noah Balta played in defence, after playing the majority of the season as a forward rucking hybrid.

Tigers improved in pressuring the opponent + attack on the ball, but not to the same extent as executed by Essendon.

Richmond’s last win at KP was 18 years ago in Round 9, 2006 at Simonds Stadium
Geelong 12.18.90
Richmond 17.8.110

Richmond has lost 20 of its past 21 games against Geelong, including the last 13 in a row.

From Round 1-7 we ranked second in the AFL in pressure + dropped to 13th between Rounds 8-11. As a result, we now have the league’s worst scores p/I50 during the last four weeks.

My attempt to guess/understand the reasons for our decline.
Our defence zone off, making open space + giving opponents opportunities to score. They rely on pressure from high balls to come together + support one another.

With our MF weakness atm, when pressure drops in the midfield, + as they gather to close open areas, opposition midfielders run or kick through, placing Geelong’s defence under pressure. Geelong’s midfield must apply more heat + pressure, to force entries from the wing.

I reckon when we do gain possession, there are too many hot potato handballs, as oppo teams apply pressure + turnovers occur. Stewart is adept at kicking under pressure. This is a skill our inexperienced player should learn.

Suggestions for Miers to play on the wing offer a valid reason, because of his accurate kicking, which usually finds his mark.

Perhaps someone could explain why we rarely play through the corridor, now?

Be gentle with me please, as I was really hesitant to post this hypothesis 😻

Shai Bolton out of their side is huge for us.

Im predicting this will be a very annoying game for Cats fans. Geelong pull away at the end and win by 16.
