I don't mind the shirts, hopefully it shows KooGa have some potential to create some great jumpers when they get a chance to.

You guys should get a petition going to get the Fitzroy lion back on your jumper. The jumper you wore in your premiership years (with the higher yoke) looked sensational and I would rate it in the top 5 Aussie rules jumpers of all time. Not only did it look great but it also represented both Brissy and Fitzroy perfectly and equally.

Also I think you need to scrap the white jumper you wore last year....it is THE WORST jumper in the AFL imo! A Brisbane Bears color scheme on the old jumper would be much better....I.e. gold jumper, maroon fitzroy lion and maroon yoke. It would be a nice addition next to the Fitzroy away jumper aswell.

Anyway this just an outsiders view on things.

Been there, done that.

Well sometimes these things are worth another crack.

The bid to reunify the Power and Magpies failed miserably the first time around but six months later we got it through. I know they are completely different situations but the principle applies.

But then again if Brisbane supporters hate it enough it will show up in the sales figures for the merchandise. Hopefully there has been a big enough fall to enforce the change.

Fair point, and one worth considering depending on the club's response to the anticipated questions at the impending AGM.

Tangentially, has Port Adelaide released their annual report yet? I'm very keen to see how their merchandise sales went this year, given their more consultative approach to changing their guernsey.

I'm not sure if it's been released yet.

This years figures for merchandise sales would be extremely compromised however because our new jumper wasn't available in the shops until June. This was mainly due to the fact that we didn't have any jumper sponsors at the beginning of the year, so production of the Back in Black jumpers was put on hold until this was sorted out. Therefore if you want to use Port as a precendent you should probably compare 2011 (which will be the first full season of sales) with 2009 (the last year of the SBS jumper).

Anyway back on Brisbane's jumper at the very least they should bring back the straight Fitzroy yoke and scale down the paddle pop lion to the size that the Fitzroy lion was (even though I would prefer to see a straight return to the old jumper). Why they made that lion so damn big I will never know!

I changed to positioning of the Lions head so there is no giraffe neck and I got rid of the tippie-toey legs

The new Lion fundamentally has to be replaced with the classic Lion emblem IMO, not some bastardised hybrid.

i concur.. i can hardly believe it is the 1 year anniversary (or thereabouts) of when this shit first splattered all over the proverbial fans (us).

I sent Bowers soo many emails throughout the year giving him grief over that thing.. and had some interesting exchanges... they fixed him... now FIX THE JUMPER!!!

The 'looking forwards' experiment didn't work out so good... we lost Bradshaw, Brennan, Riska, Princess, Our dignity, many many games of football and about two million bucks. Let's try the 'solidarity', 'stable', 'proud' approach, and get back the jumper everyone loved. Gee... that $50,000 logo is redundant already anyway...... we've got the classic on all the letterheads et al.. just omit the one which you can do so without breaking any laws or agreements and go back to being a real football club.

Lol. Nicely summarised.

Bugger. Thanks for that. Didn't realise the sale period was so limited. :(

Would be nice if Port merch sales *still* managed to beat the Lions. :)

Seems we are very far behind the 8 ball in jumper change. By the time the club wanted to change and 'update' our jumper, the rest of the AFL already had tried that and started the turn back towards traditional jumpers.

Perhaps it's a big 3 year plan by the club to up merch sales by bringing in a crappy jumper, then having a big return to our good one. Everyone would buy 1. I still have a good old jumper, but id buy a new one if we changed back.

You can see what well rounded thought processes went into the design of every element. Their new design shows a depth of understanding and sensibility that was nowhere to be seen in the design of our clown suit.

Hopefully our ham-fisted embarrassment will be in the garbage bin by the end of the year.

Not often I lol - but there ya go. Brutal but fair.

It's also they way we went about our change that makes it so much more puzzling. Port did it last year, and now Melbourne this year. It's nothing ground breaking, no super designs, just as weevil said, well rounded thought process. You can't see that in our jumper because there was no thought process. It was a money grabbing logo change. I would love to see how the merch sales are looking this year compared to previous years.
