Puma out, KooGa in: New "Kit" on the way

Sadly I don't give them more credit, I'm pretty sure Membership and Sponsorship issues was what pushed them. But that aside you're always going to have people who buy the latest merch, even if it is terrible. Sadly you can't rely on products not to sell just because they're crap.

Still they'll have to go sooner or later. It just depends on how soon.

Here's another example of bad publicity (on facebook I believe) leading to (probable) change and with team uniforms

But still, it depends on the board. Although hasn't yours been changed recently?

Best way to send a message about the jumper is to not buy it. It is as simple as that.

In for the long haul. TBH, I did not expect a change this year.

-The 2 year rule on jumpers.

- Internal turmoil at the club, with a focus on the football department.

- Fevo's distractions (particularly at board level).

- A new chairman.

- A CEO who is only warming the chair for a full time appointment. In the Westminster tradition, Wright would not make a call on a major issue such as this.

This is what we are stuck with this year, but it is up to all opposed to the paddlepop don't give up. BRING BACK THE LION. It is all about next season now. KooGa are now a part of it & if they see a large portion of their targeted demographic opposed to what they have their name on, they will be amenable to change. And keep at the club's administration.

Just hope the old polos can handle another years washing.

On the bright side, I reckon what they are doing is an old trick of car manufacturers. You do not release the best version of a new model in the first year - the new name sells it. Second time round the class design comes out. EJ EH Holden. XA - XB Falcon. HK - HG Holden.

Next year - the real Brisbane LION, or son of.

For a while now I have thought it was best to concentrate on 2012 to make major changes to our jumpers, and I still think that.

But we need to keep up the pressure on the Club, by:
- definitely writing and emailing the Club again with your opinions on this issue, specifically requesting that your message be forwarded on to Angus Johnson; (Contact details http://www.lions.com.au/contact us/tabid/5230/default.aspx )
- not buy merchandise with the paddlepop on it (I will continue to refuse to buy anything);
- banners and other ways of keeping up pressure; and importantly
- asking questions and keeping up pressure on Angus and the Board at the 2010 AGM.

The ideal scenario would be for the Club to fully consult all members through a survey in 2011 and then make the necessary change to the jumper for the 2012 season.

I'd say when an uprising of influential supporters threatened a spill of the board it got more of their attention than some facebook posts....

It would well be worth bearing in mind that the planning and design of a new guernsey for 2012 (if a change is to be made then) would be getting ready to begin. Best not to leave it too late.

I think a focus on 2012 needs to start now, questions for the AGM, banners and emails. The main thing is to not focus on 2011, that's gone, a strong 6 month campaign starting now so the club knows where we stand, and by focusing on 2012 we show we are not stupid and are realistic in our thoughts.

Earlier this year my 6 year old was getting Browny to sign his jumper which is starting to get too small for him.

The conversation went like this:

Browny: "Might be time for Dad to buy a new one"
Son:" Nah, Dad says im not allowed"
Browny: "really, thats no good"

Browny looks at me, but before I had a chance to say anything

Son: " yeah, he says the new Lion is Shithouse, and I can't have a new one untill its changed back to this one"

Me: :eek::eek::eek:

Perhaps some email/letter lobbying to another party might be in order to help things along...

"Dear Marketing Manager of Kooga,

I'm a Brisbane Lions fan/member. Thanks very much for sponsoring and supporting my club, we really appreciate it. However, just confirming that I (and my family) won't be purchasing any of the Brisbane Lions Kooga guernseys with the Paddlepop Lion on it - plain and simple, we just won't buy it. I do guarantee you however that in 2012, if you can assist in lobbying the club to change the design back to a more traditional version of the BL jumper, featuring the old 'Fitzroy' style Lion (or a slightly modernised version thereof) that became the traditional Lion for the Brisbane premiership years, I will be purchasing one. I guarantee it. Here's my membership number/address. Mark me down - if it's moved to the traditional version, there is a sale in it for you. Sadly, there won't be one before then.

Not sure how aware of the process you were, but the vast majority of Lions supporters seem to hate the new Paddlepop design. I for one can see your sales rising in 2012 if you are able to assist in returning the Lions jumper to where it should be."

Just a thought.....

I think Browny agrees it's shithouse

Blacky as well if I've heard correctly.

Read a while ago from TBD? that Troy Selwood & others were in the same boat. Wonder what an anonymous poll of players would tell us? Mayhap some one going to the AGM could suggest this to the Chairman.

Perhaps you could start an on-line petition to be forwarded to both KooGa & the club. I would support it. Also at the gates of Lions games.

Being a non-member, i am not sure how much weight my email/vote will count but I would sign any petition or send any email, that would help us get our jumper back :D

GO LIONS :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

ROFL that's bloody priceless. Your son is a champion :thumbsu:

It would have been interesting to see if the jumper result for 2011 would have been different if Bowers went a month or two earlier?

I didn't even collect my members cap this year, I told them to give it to someone that liked it (it's probably still there).:(

I got the scarf. Easier to flip it over and hide the Lion. ;)

Anything that was long enough to tie to a ceiling fan was entering dangerous territory for me this season TBD.

Fevola at the Monster Truck event.

I really like the polo, not sure if its gonna be our new one for next year but its a nice colour and differs from the boring navy blue we've become accustomed to around the AFL.
