This is now must win. A loss means having to go through the Swans at the SCG to make the GF.
We have 1... ONE. Finals win outside Victoria in our history. And that was 2020 when we spent the whole season interstate.
I mean I do agree, moreso just because Sydney are the form team and another QF loss will hurt our momentum (no matter a SF win).

The interstate factor? 1-5 isn't great. Weren't we the lower ranked side in 4 of the 5 losses though? During our best years we played MCG tenants.

Our MCG tenant record since the last flag is 1-6, often with Geelong as the higher ranked team. So I'm putting the differential of home Vs interstate down as irrelevant.

I think our side prefers the open expenses of the G though.

Worked for tigers letting Neale run free.

Saying some work gotta go into Nick.
Surely it's not that hard.

See how this plays out .
We are not the Tigers.

In the middle we are looking to halve the contest. The Tigers don't and never have under Hardwick.

Geelong plays their game where ND is checked by relentless forward pressure means we play our own game. Not theirs.

He's not the messiah just yet.

We played in a GF in 2020. all finals interstate. how did we get there? magic one win into GF?
Interstate v native team.
Pies in Qld or GWS in Perth excluded as neutral finals.

1 win away in finals interstate.

As I said see what happens.
Let Nick D run free under little pressure ..
Not good.

The Swans best Melbourne fairly easily in the end. They dominated the last quarter. Luke Parker with 17 contested disposals is a beast. They are the main worry for Geelong.

Swan finshed 3rd 20o5 and 2012 won the GF.
They got a golden ticket to the GF now.

It’s pretty amazing …flag winners ladder position in last 10-years:

Top: Two
Second: Two
Third: Five
Seventh: One

If you extend to 20-years

Top: Six
Second: Six
Third: Seven
Seventh: One

And 35-years:

Top: Thirteen
Second: Eleven
Third: Seven
Fourth: Two
Fifth: One
Seventh: One

So for the first 25-years of the AFL era third won the flag twice and top won it eleven times.

But in the last decade third have won it 5 times and top only twice.

4 years of that 35 had the McIntyre Final 5 system. Not surprising at all that the top team in those seasons went 3-1 in their respective GFs.

Game day
