It’s a massive game, win it and there’s a really strong chance of making it to the big dance again, lose and we could very well be looking at straight sets with Dogs/Hawks a big ask at the G, both in ripping form.

IMO the winner of this game takes out the premiership.

This season has shown how topsy turvy the sides still in it can be.

There will be more surprises imo.

The stakes for this game are massive. Win and you get a home prelim against either Sydney or gws (perhaps Brisbane but unlikely). That is a winnable game.

Lose and you play either wb or hawthorn and if you win that travel to Sydney to play the swans or gws. Winning those two games is almost impossible in my view.

GWS tanking that game yesterday was not good for us. I am surprised that there was absolutely no commentary about their blatant tank job. Actually, this is the afl where integrity is non existent so I am not surprised at all that there was no commentary about it.

I did similar yesterday once I knew Port was the likely opponent.

Doesn't excuse that midfield mauling earlier in the year, but it sure as hell explains it a bit.

Cannot see us winning this game. If we breakeven in the midfield we will win though. I also think our bottom 6 players are better than their bottom 6 players, and sometimes that makes a huge difference. Still think they win, just too much fire power in the midfield.

If there's any team to go small in defence against then Port is it.

I feel like Marshall, Georgiadis and Rioli can kill us with movement. I'd prefer to go in small and risk Sav or Dixon or Visentini clunking a bunch of contested marks than see Blicavs, SDK, Henry and Kolo all in the same backline with Rioli, Rozee and JHF running rings around them.

But that means one of SDK, Stanley or Blicavs gets left out. If SDK is right (big question) then Stanley's the only real choice.

any one wanna guess the changes

SDK
Rohan
Hawk???????????????????????????
I think SDK is the only in for this week and not that I agree with it but Bews will be out.
Rohan won’t get a game

We won’t see Hawkins play a game of footy again IMO

Only other scenario I can see is is Humpries doesn’t get up.
Bews stays in

My head is all over the place with this game.

Win it and I think we could sneak another premiership. Lose it and I think we're odds on to go out in straight sets.

As for Hawkins and C Guthrie - both are pretty much accepting their seasons are done. According to one of their teammates - "very long odds"

As good as Butters, Rozee and JHF are, Drew is also huge for them. He completely shut down Serong yesterday. Expecting him to blanket Stewart in the midfield, he could be in for another tough game against the Power. This time getting tagged in the guts instead of down back

6-10 goal loss. Midfield will get an absolute belting.
Interestingly since Dangerfield came into the side against Carlton, Geelong have been 3rd or 4th in the comp for scoring differential from centre clearances (we were 11th before that).

It is a strength of Port's too who I think rank even higher.

But let's not pretend we are going in with the midfield against them last time: Blicavs, Cam Guthrie, Atkins, O'Connor and Parfitt.

We went better after subbing off Stanley in the second quarter bringing on Mullin to tag JHF which worked only 11 disposals in the second half Scott will need to wrestle with that thought for a fortnight.

Also ** the pre-finals bye and ** Thursday night footy.

The AFL do everything they can to make it difficult for Geelong fans to get to finals.
While I'm usually not a fan of the pre finals bye, can't help but feel it works in our favour this year. We have a lot of mature aged and young players both of which are going to benefit from the week off. I'm not surprised we've been fading out in second halves at the end of a long season.

I forgot about Stanley that game. Subbing him off literally changed the game. He was getting dominated by Visitini. Wonder if that comes into play at selection time
