It's all rumour and speculation but Brennan is supposedly asking for some pretty big coin. As others have mentioned even if we can afford it how do you justify that to other players on your list, better players who have been here there whole career here and are being paid less then an inconsistant, over the top newb.

I like Brennan as a player, I think if he got his head right he would be a good fit for our side but I just can't see it happening. I also think he will take the big fat cheque across to the G / C.

No shit. I was wrong then. Beware the pitfalls of highlights packages. I guess there is some work that needs to be done on his composure/decision making perhaps.

i can see him being a bit of a dale thomas type in terms of his development

can bust onto the scene and be pretty flashy but will struggle with consistency for a while

As i said i hope we snare him because thats the kind of player we want, excellent skills

btw it doesnt hurt his chances of coming to collingwood being best in a buckley designed test

What is with this Brennan fixation. The guys is a lairising flake - how he is seeking 600-700k is beyond my ability to compute.

I've seen Brennan play for years and whilst mecurial at times, my worry is his ability to maintain consistancy. If he showed consistancy he may be worth the hefty price but too big a risk IMO at this stage.

What about Shaun Grigg from Carlton.

Looking for a trade and I must say that I do like the way this kid plays. Good size for a midfielder and at 22 well and truly plenty of time let in him.

Re: Brennan

thanks for moving the Brennan thread, my bad.

I know he is a pretty maligned player due to his inconsitancy and arrogance on field. But look at the likes of Thomas, Swan, L. Brown, Reid, Wellingham, Macaffer (mostly from an inconsistancy point of view). You can see where I'm going.

Does anyone know where he is from?

But seriously, who here actually knows if we even have "salary cap issues". Prove me wrong, but it is a phrase thrown around far too much. I know we have Cloke, Swan, Didak, Pandles...etc who would demand higher pay. But we also have Presti, Lockyer, Fraser, Obree, Rusling, Johnson, Didak who are all nearing (if not already on) veterans payments and retirement.
Plus we have an abundance of 2nd and 3rd year players playing for chips.

As I said, prove me wrong, but I really don't think it's that bad that we can't afford another 1 or 2 more middle-aged players. If Geelong can have all their superstars in one team under the cap, I'm sure we can also have our much younger ones too.

Your argument is good but with 1 fatal flaw your talking about Geelong mmm add in the magic ingredient the word Collingwood and up goes the price >you would have to say though Tarks ,anthony ,presti, cheeze, ,rusling, fraser?,davis, all on around give or take 50geez would be on 250000 each thats a big saving surely we can snaffel 1 big name (not TAZ)

Dont be surprised if Pies try to upgrade there first rounder

We would be a good chance with Anthony Fraser Medhurst and Leon all looking to go a years end

Would love to upgrade the 1st Rounder but I doubt you would do that with Fraser or Medders

I think something along the lines of our 1st Rounder + JA for Pick 9 - 14 maybe throw fraser in to get it around the 7 mark

The clubs who have picks in that range are Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. GC too of course but they won't be trading. Can't see any of them parting with their pick for Anthony.

To get a high first rounder somwhere between 10 and 16 we'd need to part with a best 22 player, someone who will be on the park this saturday, and I can't see that happening.

Well if we get Tarrant and if Keefe is going to be as good as everybody says he will well theres really no need for Goldsack so maybe a package of him and our first rounder for a GC pick i actually think Anthony would fetch more then Goldsack

My preference would be to upgrade our 2nd rounder. If that can be turned into a 1st rounder even better!

The strongest bracket after about 35 starts to die out. As with our pick at 42/43 in the 2nd round this would be a great pick to upgrade!

Would hope we can upgrade into Harper + Lamb. For mine they would be great fits onto a HFF + FP to release Sidebottom + Beams into the midfield rotation as regulars.

Could look something like this then: (Which would be ideal eventually once they both develop!)
F: Jed Lamb Chris Dawes Brent Macaffer
HF: Kieran Harper Travis Cloke Alan Didak
CEN: Dale Thomas Scott Pendlebury Sharrod Wellingham
HB: Harry O'Brien Ben Reid Heath Shaw
B: Nick Maxwell Nathan Brown Alan Toovey
FOLL: Darren Jolly Luke Ball Dane Swan
BENCH: Dayne Beams Steele Sidebottom Leigh Brown Tyson Goldsack

^^
Would be very comfortable with a team like this by the end of 2011. Harper is really a Steve Johnson type freakish talent and athletically he is also in the top bracket, would be a great weapon on a forward flank. Lamb is almost a Marc LeCras up forward and won the draft combine kicking test, probably the only small forward in the draft worth drafting. So once they both develop they would be great additions to our team.

To do this you would have to trade into picks 10+13 to have both guaranteed at this stage.

I was just thinking that myself Knight, great minds and all that. Updrade to a first rounder and hope we can sang both Lamb and Harper. After watching the video on his draft camp page I gotta say I like the look of Harper a lot, I can see what's got you excited.

Unfortunately looking at the draft camp results both look to be standouts. Haper has done well athletically while Lamb scored top marks for the kicking test. I dunno whether either of them will make it to the late first round let alone both.

I think getting a pick under 15 is pretty much be a pipe dream. We could upgrade somewhere 15-25 possibly but I reckon the clubs with picks under that will keep them.
