we gained an extra selection (28) with a F1 for our 2024 first, why would we be overpaying to essentially revert back? Why would you wait until you've matched to try to move back in?
You'll know exactly when you've got enough points to match with your later picks.
And you'll be able to move higher if you're still holding 28 and 31 and can include them in an offer, rather than them having been eaten by matching. And that will be quite early in the draft - before a Kako bid.
The picks move up and the points increase.I mean technically we would move up an extra spot if 28 and 31 are used up along with their picks in 40s, but I see what you are saying.
I was thinking about this, if a pick before yours get used up in a bid, does your pick now become that pick or will it stay in the same spot with the same points allocation and just assume the virtual value of the pick ?
Say for example, picks 42 and 43 get used up in a bid, does pick 44 shift to pick 42 slot and assume its points value or will the pick stay where it is and still have pick 44 points attached to it but vitually be treated as pick 42 ?
My point is that you've got more to offer when you are still holding 28 and 31- before Kako is bid on, so you're more likely to get back in at an earlier point in the draft.we gained an extra selection (28) with a F1 for our 2024 first, why would we be overpaying to essentially revert back?
We match Kako (picks 28 & 31 are absorbed)
trade one of the two future firsts we currently hold back into the draft with an abundance of later selections we currently hold to get into the 15 - 30 range of the draft.
this is how I see it playing out anyway
In that case fingers crossed gc, essendon, and brisbane all burn through their top selections (unlikely but lets hope for the best). The picks move up and the points increase.
It's not happening. In that case fingers crossed gc, essendon, and brisbane all burn through their top selections (unlikely but lets hope for the best).
If I remember correctly, our first two picks can go as high as picks 44 and picks 47 , which adds up to 678 points . That certainly puts us withing striking range of moving up to a mid 30's pick.
Can we just take 2 players and move the other 2 picks to next yearIt's not happening.
Brisbane are the only team likely to trade down for matching points and any pick in the 30s will be wiped out when they match Ashcroft
Essendon an outside chance if they trade out 28 and 31 before their later picks have enough points to match, but that'd still just result in a 40s pick.
I think we've either already agreed to a trade for 49 from Brisbane after matching Ashcroft - or we're targetting it.
Dodoro not there anymore at all, in any capacity. Time to move on
rent freeNot going to happen bud!
You must have a min of 36 listed players and a max of 38. As we only have 33 we need to take 3 picks in the ND, so I’d suggest no.Can we just take 2 players and move the other 2 picks to next year
Probably. It's a definite possibility that we trade a pick out.Can we just take 2 players and move the other 2 picks to next year
They can upgrade a rookie if they only want 2.You must have a min of 36 listed players and a max of 38. As we only have 33 we need to take 3 picks in the ND, so I’d suggest no.
Since when are draft watchers actually right about this stuff though? Especially in even drafts, more often than not their predictions are all over the shop after the top 5 or so.I am not discounting he distinct possibility that Isaac is bid on inside 10, I would be very surprised if it did happen. Not only because most draft watchers had him in the teens but because history also suggests academy and NGA players are often bid on later than anticipated.
Might leave it here, bu thanks for the brief debate guys, will let you be now
Exactly, they all have different ideas and belief systems of their own. I don't know what old mate is worried about, either way, they are getting a a real quality player in KakoSince when are draft watchers actually right about this stuff though? Especially in even drafts, more often than not their predictions are all over the shop after the top 5 or so.
I agree with moving up. My point is if we take only 2 and move one or two of them to next year, can we only take 2 in this draft or does it have to be physically 3 playersProbably. It's a definite possibility that we trade a pick out.
If Hine has a smokie who he doesn't think others will take, we could still take 3 and trade two out.
I think we'll be trying to move up though.
Yep. It's crystal clear that Essendon traded out 9 because an earlier bid for Kako is a distinct possibility.Since when are draft watchers actually right about this stuff though? Especially in even drafts, more often than not their predictions are all over the shop after the top 5 or so.
We have to add 3 to the senior list, but one of them can be an upgraded rookie. So we could just draft 2, upgrade Smit or whoever, and then add someone new as a rookie later on in the rookie draft or SSP.I agree with moving up. My point is if we take only 2 and move one or two of them to next year, can we only take 2 in this draft or does it have to be physically 3 players
exactly, most NGA's slide. Can only think of Jamara who went around where he was expected. Alot of other academy kids have slid further back than even roughly where they were expected to go.Since when are draft watchers actually right about this stuff though? he always was a man of the peopleDodoro's legacy will be enjoyed by us for years to come.
Yep, you know where I was headingWe have to add 3 to the senior list, but one of them can be an upgraded rookie. So we could just draft 2, upgrade Smit or whoever, and then add someone new as a rookie later on in the rookie draft or SSP.
You're really not showing your namesake's wisdom here. No one knows when a bid will come, but it goes without saying that Essendon traded out 9 because there's a distinct possibility that a bid comes before that pick.exactly, most NGA's slide. Can only think of Jamara who went around where he was expected. Alot of other academy kids have slid further back than even roughly where they were expected to go.
You and Matty are going to have to fight it out for Cumberland or Tomlinson.Yep, you know where I was heading
They won't have the list spots to do a swap like that before matching the Ashcroft bid. So it's about what's left over after they match. If the bid is late enough 43 might be available as a swap, but more likely 49 is the best left.Brisbane have picks 42 - 395, 43 - 378
Our pick 52 and pick 55 is equal to 453.
rather than seeing either of those picks get swallowed up, we could convince brisbane to do a swap.
