99 games in 9 years, players being brought in to play his role and others able to go past him.

Thats probably what it is.
Milera was the preferred player, ball in hand, still in 2023 .....his injury, and Smiths decline, robbed us of drive off HB .....we didn't have a replacement, Hinge was an option, but most teams have multiple players providing run off HB

Cumming is worth every cent ....Milera, likely to play a fair bit of SANFL in the early part of the season, would be my guess

This anti Milera group think from the last few weeks is bizarre. His past 20 games he’s averaging 20 possessions, over 300m gained, rarely has goals kicked on him, top 10 B&F 2023. Short memories.
all well and good but those 20 games probably took him 7 years to reach

Groupthink is pretending he's some sort of consistent dynamo and forgetting all the half arsed efforts he's put in.
Don't care about his stats, I remember the games.. He often looked great with ball in hand when allowed to loose check as an unaccountable rebounder, but in the same breath would cough up multiple turnovers after carrying the ball 40m, only to then go at marching pace the other way when pretending to chase.. One on one hes a liability 3 out of 5 in tight.
No accountability not unlike Rory Laird. Rory Laird at least gos hard at it when it's there to be won.

Wayne's fine when it's his turn to go, when he plays.

Hinge was a good option until Nicks moved Laird back there and Hinge to the wing. Thoughts on that move?

Pfff ...by that stage of the season, it was experimentation time ....nothing to be read into any positional changes late season

Milera has played only 40 games over the past 4 season. 3 of the last 4 have been largely injury interrupted.

Previously he has been brought back too early after a long lay off. Now we have some depth, there is no reason to rush him back... particularly as he is no longer guaranteed best 23. Needs a minimum solid month of games in the sanfl to earn his way back.

We should not be banking on him, hence the recruitment of Cumming with Smith decline. Nankervis may be ahead of him too.

lol Wayne, so Nicks wasn’t trying to win?

So where are Laird, Hinge, Milera and Cumming all going to play next year?
Were we in calculations for Finals ? .....then like all other Clubs out of the race, their attention is about 2025

It's a balancing act though, try players in different positions, and still compete

Do you think, if we were in Finals contention, we would have played a first year Rookie (Curtin) as a FT Mid ? ....of course not
The Club was still defining Curtin's role for 2025

The Club was also having a big look at Bond, given he scored only a 1 year Contract extension

We weren’t in finals calculations after 4 rounds when Nicks went rogue bonkers and that didn’t stop him selecting Smith and playing Laird in the middle until the last few rounds.

Curtin was not played as a full time mid, don’t lie. Remember his 4 mins against Geelong? He also played up forward.

Bond with his B&F votes per game showed he more than deserved his place.

But you haven’t answered, if it was only experimental, where are Laird, Milera, Cumming and Hinge going to play if all available?

For the record, I think when Milera is on he's mesmerisingly brilliant.
I just think people forget how rare this occurrence is and how poor and frequent his off days are. This stretches back pre-injuries.
All I want out of Milera is one more game so he gets to 100 and his kids are eligible to be crows. Same with Jones on 92.

What a fascinating watch - seeing people turn on one of their own after they suffered a couple of injuries in service to their club. I wonder if it’s some kind psychological exercise to see how many people will jump on. To the point where now things are being obviously fabricated like bad turnovers, not chasing, low effort, poor 1 on 1. These things aren’t real.

We have access to all the games these days - show us these examples, even just time codes when they occurred. But we both know that’s not going to happen.

Feel like Hinge is far more consistent and damaging when he’s playing behind the ball rather than the wing, seems like he gets a bit lost when pushing too high up the ground. He shouldn’t have been moved to accommodate Laird.

WaynesWorld19 noticed you didn’t answer, ignore all your other points I corrected, where do you see these 4 players playing?

Hardly stinkers; Bond's 2nd game he went to Merrett and while he got 30 they weren't damaging due to his attention and we won the game. Stengle kicked 1 on him. Was Cameron, Danger and Stewart that carved us up in a very close loss.
They were definitely stinkers. According to the coaches votes, Merrett equal 3rd best on ground and Stengle was equal 6th. Surely we can all accept that everyone (especially young players) will play bad games occasionally and acknowledge when they do.

Out of the group of Hinge, Milera, Cumming, Michalanney, Nank, Ryan and Jones, one of them will likely push up to the wing. My preference would be Cumming or Nank. I'm not convinced that Nank has the running capacity that Nicks likes in our wingmen though. I think Laird should only be included in this group if we have 2 or 3 injuries and/or Ryan doesn't improve enough to get games. As it is, two out of this group will likely miss out.

With a bottom four draw, 13 games at AO, the recruits pushing out the spuds and so much improvement in our young players, I reckon 2025 will see us leap in the finals.

Every time I do a best 23, I get excited. Milera not needed.
