I think he avoids being the one caught with the hot potato, but I think that is a false pride in disposal efficiency thing rather than an unwillingness to contest. He plays `could get hurt' football all the time.

I just hate the way he will get hurt for a personal stat but does nothing when his team mate could get hurt by blocking, shepherding, tackling etc. Look at his tackle count for a guy who has an elite engine.

I hate the way he plays when these guys give so much heart

I am on the same page there.

Don't you and Leon reckon he played well today?
I think "I thought Kane Cornes was outstanding" is a massive overstatement. He was OK, but his persistent lack of proper team play is the #1 way to get downvotes from me.

Its a common theme on this board that getting Malthouse would fix everything. First thing he'd do is show Kane the door, because the success of all premiership teams is built on team play. Even Bucks laid blocks and he's the FIGJAM.

Pfeiffer is not up to AFL standard.

Don't know why people are having a crack at Pfeiffer after today. Might not be on our list in 5 years time but for now he's doing his job. Has been decent defensively, good in traffic and creative with his disposals in the last few weeks.

I am with you on Pfeiffer. He is frustrating but man he has a crack. If we had 2 or 3 A graders I think he would be fine.

He will burn you sometimes but if Jacobs watched him and just had a crack then he might be okay. I bet his team mates like him and I bet KC's team mates dont like him

As Milde29 said, he really does have a crack but his hands aren't good and he does seem out of his league - he just doesn't seem to be a league footballer to my eye.

As for KC not being liked by his team mates, I reckon that you are being grossly unfair to a bloke who does what he is told by the coach to the nth degree and is an inspiration to his team mates on the training track with his work ethic and his guts to be able to come back and perform the way he has after everyone, including myself, had written him off.

Today, in the first half especially, K. Cornes was our best player by the length of the straight. I don't reckon he gave the ball away, his skills were excellent and he ran his guts out.

I understand how people can be averse to K. Cornes on occasions but he's led from the front this year for his team.

David Rodan is an interesting case.. he may be of better use to the team playing his onball role for 5-8 minutes then resting him for 5 minutes in the forward line as a crumbing forward.

If you're in our forward line you can't afford to be resting. Its not like supply is plentiful and you're likely to jag a goal on the way.

Dead right Porthos.

I'd like to know how many times we score from the amount of times we go into the fifty 'cause it seems that we don't get it in there too often but we seem to score quite often when it does go in there.

Someone mentioned that Rodan should be the permanent sub, or words to that effect and I agree wholeheartedly. The sub rule was made for a Rodan.

What would need to happen is that his fitness regime should be modified to keep up his aerobic conditioning to compensate for shortened game time and keep him nice and fresh so he can make an impact when unleashed. Rodan is the PERFECT sub player and would provide us with the best of David Rodan.

So far this year we have used the sub to win once in R1. We have also used to kill O'Sheas confidence and to develop young players which hasnt worked. It is so simple, why cant we do it. Use Rodan for his strengths, not drop him for his weaknesses

Lobbe: Excellent game. Had 32 hitouts despite spending a lot of time in the forward line, his defensive work was excellent and he added two goals to boot. Should never play SANFL again.

agree. just let him play

Just to add to this - 9 tackles for Lobbe, second for Port to Moore.

I'm quite pleased with how we went. Same story with our skill levels and I dont think that will change for the rest of the year. Big focus on skill level over pre season.

Moore and lobbe got me excited and I think Jonas has a future.

I thought butcher was good. Didn't get good delivery but tackled amazingly

Some good signs I thought, especially from Moore, Lobbe and Jonas.

Our forward entry was just awful, and we tended to turn it over far too often when coming out of defence. Skill wise it wasn't great, however it probably wasn't the ideal day for skilled football :D

Most of the other things have been covered I think.

JMacs disposal
Renoufs lack of anything around the ground
Brett Eberts game
Some of Butch's leading wasn't great

Big Lobster has been on the weights, great to see him back.

Really encouraging from Moore, 20 possies 11 tackles looking more comfortable by the game. Jonas just looked disciplined and strong. So glad we werent r*ped.

when considering butchers performance we should note how many times our forwards lead only to have the ball kicked anywhere but where they are going.

interesting to look back and remember even shultz's marks have been plucked from unlikely places. we shouldnt be expecting a 2nd year key forward to make miracles happen.

I had my photo taken with the big lobbenator at TPC last year and I can vouch. Homeboy looks like, 83 times as big these days.

Not going to comment on the players, but how do we still not have a plan on kickouts? How do we still let the opposition spare man become the most pivotal player on the ground? How can we not have a plan to keep the ball in our forward half? Still the same problems, none of which are skill or personnel based.

Its not 100% but we have 599 inside 50s for 180 scores, so our score/I50s is 30%. The top teams have it around 50-55%
