Tried to use the ballot website - it took me to an locked site. I think it’s a typical Ticketmaster (I what ever they call it) stuff up.

I’m not sure if I’m eligible or not, I do monthly payments for my club 1870 membership... the club has paused the payments for the rest of the year and I have pledged my entire membership payments to date... $500 or so.

You’d think that may be enough to sneak into the ballot... If not, ah well - it will save me from calling in sick from work Saturday evening!
As an 1870 member you SHOULD have first priority. **** seeing casual silver members getting tickets.

Ballot received and completed.

I was cool about this, now I'm a bit pissed, but I know it's a tad unreasonable.

Someone who has a $200 membership and leaves that with the club gets a chance for a ticket, yet someone with a $1000 dollar membership that left a big chunk of that (way over $200) with the club doesn't.

How far do you want to take that though? If it's based on how much money is contributed, anyone with a corporate package (including something like this board's player sponsorship, for instance) gets in ahead of a standard reserved seat holder.

It's a reasonable point. It's definitely a bit of tough luck.

There are a whole lot of things that are ****ed.
2000 tickets despite a 50K stadium is complete overkill.
Protest allowed (I have no problem with the protest) but the hypocrisy behind not allowing a reasonable crowd.
Ballot for tickets allowing casual members to potentially receive a pass whereas an $800 member who has been a member for 15 years misses out.

Covid is dead in this state. Time to get back to business and get the economy going again.

How is it any different that an 1870 member gets guaranteed allocation to the Grand Final.

Everyone realises you buy your way to a seat at the grand final. I think with these limited crowds most clubs will be pretty keen not to appear too elitist in the way they allocate the seats.

Can you imagine the backlash of the making it the other way though? This is the only way to do it without getting completely slaughtered in the media and by fans. But of course it's what the Crows would do.

It's not 'fair' but then nothing is.

I'm assuming you elected to pause your membership? I'd be curious what happened, but I'd have assumed that's effectively not pledging 100%. I didn't bother responding to the options myself, so they're continuing to take their Club 1870 money from me. I'd love some appreciation at a later date, but the truth is I just want my club to get through this period in as good a shape as possible.

Like I said, I know I'm just whinging, the system is pretty fair.

I just really want to go :).

Personally I would have used the system they use in Britain for such events (though the data wont be as good), where they reward people going by their ACTUAL attendance and attendance at away games.

A lot of people who buy the cheap memberships only intend to go to a few games (quite often) and have the ticket just in case.

What is your chance in the ballot? 1,475/28,000 = 5.2%

Dear Members,

I know the significance of this moment hasn’t been lost on anyone.
Home Showdown, in our 150th year, in the Prison Bars.

It was always going to be a ticket worth having…yesterday its value went through the roof!

Since March, the prospect of being able to invite anyone into the Showdown seemed remote.

Less than 3 weeks ago we were contemplating playing this jewel in the crown of SA footy in a Queensland hub! How quickly things are moving.

Yesterday’s news by the Premier, that South Australia would be the first state to bring crowds back to AFL stadiums was both welcome and appreciated.

We now face the task of deciding who will get the opportunity to attend this historic match. It’s not an easy task.

Last night or this morning you would have received a note from the Club advising that the 1475 tickets allocated to Port Adelaide will be drawn from the 28,000 or so game access members who have pledged 100% of their membership in 2020.

We have asked these members to register their interest with the Club by 5pm tonight.

If you are unlucky and miss out, our intention is to replicate this ballot process for all future games where access is restricted…we’re aiming to get as many members as we possibly can into our games through the year.

Our team will sort through these registrations overnight and tomorrow to ensure that the qualification criteria has been met, before randomly selecting the 1475 ‘golden tickets’ to be handed to the lucky recipients.

We’re also trying to cater for families or small groups who sit together at the footy as part of their home game ritual. This adds another layer of complexity, but so long as each member qualifies as a game access member, then we think it’s the right thing to do to avoid any family squabbles!!
All I would ask is that you bear with us through this process…it’s new, and it’s short notice.

Our team will be doing all that they can over the next 48 hours to be as helpful as possible, to ensure that your registration is handled effectively.

If you are selected, you will be required to adhere to a range of health protocols and your ticket is definitely not transferable.

And most importantly you’ll have the heavy responsibility of cheering loud and representing the Port Adelaide family on this historic day.

Good luck, stay glued to your computer…and hopefully we’ll be able to see you at the footy!

KT

This is a fair point, you're definitely in the unlucky category. However, the odds are stacked against those eligible for the ballot too.
