Last night on the train home, Hawks bloke was bagging us about our club colours... da fcuk! As a football club, Hawthorn have no right whatsoever to comment on another clubs, organizations or any existing things colours.

P.S our colours are awesome!

Jarryd Roughead made an interesting observation

"They held their forwards back and allowed their mids to do their work through the middle and also had the switch of their defenders.

It's hard to tell from watching on TV but it's good to hear we are retaining a forward structure again.

If Nathan Bassett does come over and is forward coach I imagine he would continue this structure. While his Norwood sides parked the bus across half back he did like having a big forward target or two to aim for when they turned defence into attack. He is pretty good at spotting who would be good in that role too.

Great win. Always great beating Hawthorn and shutting their cocky fans up even for a week. Can't help but think what might have been in season 2015. But the subtle gameplan changes and the way the boys have still put in once their finals chances were gone fills me with optimism for season 2016. Glad to see that AhChee and Sammy Gray have emerged and passed Moore and Young for spots in the team in my eyes.

watched the replay this morning, pretty solid performance by the majority of the team. It is a good feeling to know that we have x4 players (wines, Polec, bobby, lobbe and jacko) out of the team who are (under normal circumstances) walk up starts in our 22.

Our back line has fluid ball movement again although the likes of O'Shea still makes too many fundamental decision and skill errors which more often than not are costly. We should be able to trade him for a 2nd or 3rd pick hopefully.

Those who have played footy would notice the insane ability that Matty White has to run at peak speed and kick the ball effectively, not too many people can do that.

Had to laugh at one of the Hawks posters crying that Ling was doing his best to get Hodge suspended.

Biggest WTF ever.

I assume they're referring to Ling being the first to spot it on the coverage, "was that an elbow too?" and initially reiterating it on subsequent replays, "definitely, he's in trouble".

But then the "Hodgey's a great bloke" mafia tugged his coat and he went 180. It was not unlike Kent Brockman's change of heart on the Movementarians.

Yeah i saw this live at the game. One of either wingard butch or schulz would only push as far/high as the space between the back of the centre square and the arc. Not running any further

Hamish Hartlett says Tigers showed Power how to down the Hawks
PORT Adelaide studied how Richmond rolled Hawthorn in round 18 — then used the same tactics to shock the Hawks on Friday night, midfield star Hamish Hartlett says.

The Power shocked the reigning premiers for the second time this season with a 22-point win, and holds a 3-1 win-loss record over Hawthorn since round 10 last year.
Among Port’s best with 26 disposals (12 contested), Hartlett said Port had watched what Richmond did with the ball and how it stopped the Hawks’ runners ... and everything fell into place.
“We had a look at what Richmond did a few weeks ago to beat them but that was more about when we were in possession of the football,’’ Hartlett said.

Hah .. It's a shame he didn't watch Ken's post match presser! Put the journo back in his box, flatly denied we used Richmond as model

My personal highlight was 4 Hawks players around a loose ball before Ah Chee came bursting through from nowhere to take possession. Would have been an easy inside 50 for them, but they got absolutely owned.

I still can't believe how shit Hawthorn looked on Friday night. At this point I would be extremely surprised if they even made the grand final.

Hartlett doesn't admit to anything other than saying that they studied how Richmond moved the ball and how Hawthorn reacted to it. At no point does he say we studied Richmond's game plan. The author of the article had an agenda from the outset and was probably the same idiot who posed the question to Hinkley.

I think the last few weeks have shown us at least part of the reason for the malaise that afflicted us earlier on in the year: playing people out of position.

Tom Jonas has shown that he isn't a small defender, and he isn't even really a medium defender. He's our fourth best tall defender now that Hombsch has overtaken him, and he's more Alipate Carlile than Jack Hombsch. All of the games that I remember Jonas for have involved him playing on a tall and giving them an absolute hiding. When Taylor Walker was shoving Trengove around and doing as he pleased at the start of Showdown 34 it was Jonas who went onto him and shut him out of the game thereafter. It was Jonas who made Jeremy Cameron his bitch in multiple games over the past three seasons, and it was Jonas who looked completely useless most of this year and late last year as Jack Hombsch took his job as our third tall defender.

Sam Gray did so little well in the forward line that my dad and I had a running joke where whenever he touched the ball (and inevitably ****ed up) one of us would turn to the other and say "and that was the last time I saw Sam Gray in a Power jumper". He has absolutely made me eat my words over the last month since being moved into the middle, and while he still isn't the best disposer of the ball even that has improved. He is now a player I want to see in the team.

Patrick Ryder is a good forward who has the leap and natural reading of the play to be a dangerous target. But he is great as a ruckman where his tap work, around the ground mobility and marking make him a huge boon for the team. When we have no one to kick to after the opposition have zoned off well Ryder is the perfect guy to kick to, and a chance to take a mark no matter how many people are hanging off him. I hope we get Dixon so that Ryder can play as our first choice ruck next year, because it's amazing the difference he makes when he's fully fit and rucking for us.

I don't think that's the whole reason for the shit efforts earlier on in the year, but it is indicative of the half-arsed way we've gone about this season, and I hope we make some hard decisions in list management and at the selection table over the next twelve months.

I was at the game and I noticed that when they had the brown and gold flashing on all the advertising boards it made the stadium look like a giant toilet bowl.

lol Doug Robertson. Marginally ahead of Warren Partland in journo quality stakes. Talk about a handicap event.
