Easily our best win for the season.

The really pleasing thing about the last couple of weeks is that Ken has been prepared to throw the side around and try a few players in different positions. Sam Gray to the midfield is the obvious one but also giving Ryder the no1 ruck role has produced results. Tonight were the best performances I have seen from Sam and Paddy so far and I thought Ah Chee and Impey also had good games. Impey and Krakouer both fired and seemed to take it in turns to shine. Maybe Ken rotated them off the bench?

We did not have many poor performers tonight. There were a couple of negatives but I prefer to rejoice in a great win.

Copped crap all day at work and replied by putting $100 on Port to win by 1-39. payout of $1200.
WHOSE THE BIATCH NOWWW?

P.S. I almost cried after tonights win... In with a sniff? :p
**** you got 12-1. Where from? work colleagues.

After the Bulldogs game I gave up on thinking about September, so I'm just enjoying every game as it comes.

Things I'm most pleased about:

We finally have a full set of reliable second tier mids
1st tier: Gray, Boak, Wines, Hartlett, Ebert (with glasses)
2nd Tier: Polec, White, Ah Chee, Sam Gray, Impey/Neade cameo

If your going to cameo Impey/Neade in the mids, you really should do the same with Chad, cept in the line above where it says 1st tier. Chad's centre clearance work gets overlooked because of all those goals he kicks and sets up and the amazing marks he takes.

Well we produced a premiership effort against the reigning premiers according to the Champion Data premiership quadrant. 108 v 86.

How good was that. Outstanding 4 qu performance.

Kudos to the whole team, especially
Sammy g- saved his career and effected the end of Moore's
Ah chee- app great follow up game, showed your going to be a 200 game player.
Welcome back Jonas and monfries to their 2014 form.
Pittard showed how good he could be when he makes no mistakes
We must play only one ruck at that must be Ryder.

We played a west coast style back line, only 1 tall in defence and it worked we ran hard.

Only downside it shows how much of a wasted season this was. Absolute ****ed this season up.. The morning after and I'm even more pissed at how we have wasted this season.

But gee it was nice to stuff up hawthorn and there 70k members, except only 20k of them actually go to games.

To lead from start to finish against a practically full strength Hawthorn side that had a lot to play for. That was a sweet win. I thought we were in trouble going into the last quarter with a one point lead. But the team responded like a good side.

Fitting really that Ah Chee and S. Gray both kicked goals in that last qtr. At the start of the year both were on my 'most likely to delist' list. Now I can see Arch having a long successful career with Port, and possibly Sam. To think that Arch was pick 45 in 2011 draft. Could turn out to be a real bargain. Big, strong, hard at it, has good hands and kicks goals - did I mention his handball.

A shame it's taken so long to get our act into gear. Season 2016 can't come around fast enough.

Btw, all this talk of a "wasted season". It'll only be a wasted season if we don't learn from our mistakes and go into our preseason with a real hunger to correct the mistakes of 2015. In amongst the mire of this season it appears we've unearthed a couple of gems too. Perhaps this year will prove to be the recession we had to have after all.

Okay... now I'm sober and can post without dribbling.

Firstly congratulations on last nights win. Hats off to Port Adelaide and their impressive performance. Port brought their intensity and A-game right from the opening bounce. They hunted us and pressured our ball carriers at every opportunity and it showed.

Despite Port Adelaide having 5-6 best 22 players missing with injury for the game it didn't seem to bother Port one bit. Something to take into next year and perhaps build on it was it's 'depth players' who last night showed they are improving and will make Port Adelaide a top four team in 2016.

Brendan Ah Chee was very impressive throughout the match highlighting his versatility in the air with his impressive marking, strength around the contest/stoppages and his ability to push forward and kick goals were a feature of his game.

Sam Gray played arguably the best match in his short career so far and deserves to be upgraded to the senior list after that kind of performance.

Players like Neade, O'Shea, Impey were also very good contributers.

Robbie Gray... what can you say other then this guy is simply a freak. Unbelievable ability in heavy traffic to find targets and set-up play. Sublime skills. He's an amazing player.

Chad Wingard. Well he's by far now the best small forward in the competition. His scope for improvement is scary.

Season 2015 may not have gone according to plan, but Port still has a very young list with plenty of upside to come and it should rise backup the ladder again in 2016 with a good healthy list to choose from. If Port Adelaide can land a player like Charlie Dixon, that would be the icing on the cake and would make Port Adelaide a force next season and beyond.

Cheers.

not much mentioned about impey thought he was awesome tonight, kid has got some skills and could be the best small defender in the afl in a year or 2 , such a nice level headed bloke as well
Yep I've been critical of Impey because his fumbling and poor disposal go relatively unnoticed on this board, but last night he was sensational. Best game for us yet.

Gameplan
We cut them open plenty of times through the middle with brave kicks, our handballs were slick and we had those runners continuing to pop up behind players as they were pressured and tackled. In the podcast the point was made that we play well against Hawthorn as they back themselves in and allow us to play our natural game, rather than crowding the corridor and the ground a kick ahead of the play. The trick still remains doing this on an opposition intent on stopping our natural game.

That's my main concern.

I think if Polec can recover to 100% and no further issues, he'll be one of our club's best players and ascend into that 1st tier group.

True. I hope they knock it out of him next year otherwise it sets into his game long-term.

This kid can play. Still needs to build strength to steady his kicks when on the run.
