I have taken a very keen interest in him and I can honestly say he isn't showing much to me yet. I think he looks a long way off at this point. He had a rough time last year starting the preseason in a moon boot and never really getting going. This year he still hasn't demanded a spot but I think at some point he will explode. He's quite a shy kid and has the type of personality that might take time.
Really? Hudson was raving about him from his first game in the VFl last year. When he came in, if I recall in perhaps his second game that he had perhaps 10 touches in the first half. He was over 50 DTs anyway! Then I think he got himself injured. Agree he has made some mistakes, but I think his traits and glimpses have been very nice. Very nice mark last week.

into $2.95 now. We were like $5 a week and a half ago vs doggies $1.15. bit of money has come for the saints.
You would be surprised by how similar our stats are this season. Both have one blow out loss but the Dogs have won their close ones.

Watch Acres in traffic. He's one of those players that works in a different time frame to everyone else.

When I've seen him in traffic, he doesn't have that Harvs or Dal 'time' in heavy traffic, he looks more like Raph Clarke (was it composure or just a lack of awareness) . Let's be honest though, he's not played 10 games. So these are calls based on such limited viewing. It's more just a summation, that some are seeing good signs, others are a little underwhelmed. I think we all agree , with his physique (after a year) and athleticism he could become a match breaking mid long term.

I'm surely not the only one who is underwhelmed thus far by Acres. I feel like we drafted and athlete as against a footballer. His disposal, decision making and awareness worry me. I feel like 50% of the time it's 'deer in the headlights ' stuff. This view is justified (imo) by young boys like Sinclair and Lonie who seem to consistently make really good decisions under intense pressure. Neither were high picks and they've been in the system little more than 25 weeks.
The kid's played 4 games, including as the sub and the game against Hawthorn where he played all but two minutes before injuring himself. How can you possibly judge his disposal, decision making and awareness from such a small sample size?

Give him a genuine chance, jeez.

i think I love Lonie more than anyone!, but he hasn't made good decisions all the time. I see Sincs as a natural and maybe well above what many think now, but Lone dog has had a few brain fades. He'll be fine, he's just running and trying so hard.

Long live over trying...

Lol.... I guess I shouldn't have said trade or delist him first chance we get. That was silly of me, I should've just said I was a little underwhelmed.

I think you are specifically talking the kick across the face of goal straight to a Carlton player. To me Lonie has been extraordinary in his endeavour. I noticed Essendon spent a lot of times running into him at every opportunity. For a guy with a handful of games to get that attention suggests they must rate him. I think Lonie is probably the most exciting first year player we have had in a decade, he reminds me of a young Aussie Jones with his small size but huge skill set and output that defies his age. Acres just hasn't shown enough yet to me. He isn't a bad player just looks like he is going to take a little longer.

Blake was always going to take time, and has had further injury issues to push him back further. I thought that he wouldn't play much 1s this year and just consistently play for Sandy, thought he was impressive without making a huge impact against Essendon.

Can't agree with your comment on his awareness, Blake moves like Pendles and has displayed terrific awareness at lower levels, he won't show that in his 4th AFL game, late in the 4th quarter, against finals-quality opposition, in a fast, hectic game.

If you're underwhelmed, lower your expectations.

That's not surprising, we're good value to cause an upset.

Dogs will be favourites but with their outs and our ins it evens it up, if we don't win we should at least push them close.

I see (Hugh) Goddard had 4 disposals last weekend.

Considering another got flack for a measly 8 disposals, am assuming there must've been a hell of a lot of spoils and/or cleverly hidden fumbling towards the boundary.

When do we all start demanding his debut?

That's fair enough too mate but I'm happy enough to basically sacrifice a few positions just to fast track these boys. I know Richo and us supporters want wins but patience will pay off and if you read the drafting thread maybe sooner than later hopefully.

Similar to how Jack Watts was fast tracked. It can go the other way. Players can still develop in the VFL and I think with the list strengthening the way it is I'd much prefer kids demanding selection. That in it's own would be great for his development.
