My take:

  • Umps are putrid, robbed us any chance of hanging in there in the first half at which point damage was done.
  • Obrien simply has to go, losing ruck battles to Jack SOS, can't keep his feet, plenty of non 2nd efforts and then we move to getting out tapped. Worst performance I've seen from him and he's had a few bad ones.
  • Lack of pressure around stoppage was abysmal, gives our defenders literally no hope.
  • The only real positives were Dawson, Tex & Murphys first half & I thought Chayce Jones was pretty solid & at least played with urgency unlike most. Berry puts in effort at least but is still very much learning.

That's about it really.

The season has turned from looking ok to extremely painful very fast. If we keep backing the likes of O'brien in when Strachan deserves a crack we deserve it & to lose members. If we give Strachan a go and it doesn't work so be it, but insanity is doing the same shit expecting different results.

Reilly O'Brien worst on ground by a mile. AWFUL form. Why even have Strachan on the list? He MUST be dropped

Frampton sucks too

How many times do we need to try Himmelberg and Frampton before we realise they aren't good?

Yes, they can have the occasional good game. But it's clearly not the norm

Overall, there is enough evidence now over multiple seasons that neither player is AFL quality. We're not talking about players we haven't given chances to. We've given heaps of chances. Too many chances. We know now, for certain, that they suck

Umpires are the very least of our problems.
Correct, but the previous poster got it absolutely right: their active cheating was responsible for keeping us in our place at halftime.

Schoenberg needs to go back to the seconds to get his head right: it was not justified to put him back in the side yet.
Maybe Rachele needs some management.

Agree take nothing away from Carlton they are a slicker team than us, I never expected to win, was hoping for a competitive loss. Sadly I do feel umps impacted our ability to deliver this but those other points I stated above are just as pertinent as to why the flogging.

Well done to Carlton, they are on the up, still plenty to improve to be honest too but they should finally play finals.

Frampton could nearly be in the team as a loose unaccountable third man defender, his attacking drive could make it worth while. Issue is we largely have Doedee for that though his attacking drive isn't really that good but can defend much better & generally gets to the right spots.

Said after the Essendon loss that you can't expect to win when you concede 65 Inside 50s. Well tonight we conceded 74 - our worst ever.

With Brisbane, St Kilda and Geelong over the next three weeks we are in significant trouble.

We're basically where we were this time last year, and in modern footy stagnation means we're going backwards.

Brodie Smith and Ned McHenry back I assume?

Frampton, Brown, Butts, Hamill didn't lay a tackle all game.
Doedee had 1. Jones and Hinge had 2 each.
Himmelberg, Gollant, ROB, Cook and Murphy were nowhere.

Midfield was destroyed.

We are cooked.
