I have never observed such behaviour at a footy match. Even if it is 1% it must not be tolerated.
Agree, but let's put it in perspective - in the UK supporters of the two competing soccer clubs are separated by wire mesh fencing and at some venues opposition supporters require police escort into the ground. Even in the A League we have had supporters letting off flares and destroying seats.

In the AFL we have the occasional idiot supporters crossing the line, and by and large such incidents are dealt with appropriately.

Pretty pathetic Suns supporters make the trip down to Geelong to support their team and have some Cat people yell Idiotic remarks to their team, i wouldn't accept it either, if this keeps happening and no one does anything about it i doubt anyone else from the Suns or another team would want to goto an ignorant ghost town to watch the football.
Hard to know if you're trying to be funny, or if you are serious??

Photo of the guy who yelled the racist remarks.

I don't want us to sound soft and shit. We can handle the normal banter and abuse from opposition fans. Thats part of being in the cheer squad. I'm sure the players agree. But when things get either physical or bigotry that's when the line gets crossed.

If I heard what was said from any of my SUNS members I would do everything in my power to have their memberships revoked.

Where is Harry O with his tweet? Surely not far away.

I dont mind putting the picture up. Name and shame people who make racist remarks.
As for the violence, surely thats captured on video and therefore can be investigated through that avenue?

As for the quote:

Harry O needs to shut his pie hole.
Unless its regarding himself or collingwood he should refrain from commenting.
Ever since he met the Dalai Lama he has considered himself a spiritual spokesperson for anyone and everything. The thing is he's not quite as inteligent as he thinks and generally spouts the same opinion in 14 different ways.

The only comments he's made were kinda to do with Collingwood. And you spelt 'intelligent' wrong.

Hmmm yes.
Hey maybe next time you could run out onto the ground and point at him...that could work.

Cant understand it tho. We dont have problems going there...in fact its usually a good day and everyone gets along. Even the players. Pies are always half bloody cold and flyblown but then hey thats not the end of the world.
Maybe its because we know and expect a stadium full of extra's from that movie deliverance...and we're tolerant types.

Two sides to every story...will wait for the other.

Geelong supporters have always thought they are holier than everyone else, and this kind of thing never happens with their supporters.

When i mentioned the racial abuse Krakouer got when he kicked the winning goal against them, the Geelong supporters told me i was full of shit.

Every team has supporters like this unfortunately

You really sure that's a good policy? Rapists and pedophiles are afforded greater privacy than people accused of racism.

That 13y/o girl would have had more rights if she'd killed someone rather than said a racist remark. We're a strange country.

The difference between racism and rape/murder is that it has long been accepted rape/murder are the wrong thing to do, full stop. No brownie points to be earned fighting that fight, we're all on the same page.

Racism, however, still has many grey areas, providing moral grand standers with the perfect platform with which to show the world how much more forward thinking, tolerant and righteous they are than the rest of the community.

To be fair, regardless of any possible self-serving motivations, if people are taking a stand against racism they are probably more forward thinking, tolerant and righteous than a lot of people. Just take a look at the racism threads on this board over the past week to see how low the bar is.

Why do you think it's such an effective home ground advantage? It is a hostile environment to opposition supporters and players alike. It's a throwback to the old days of suburban VFL grounds with beer cans and abuse being launched over the fence.

It's not really. It's extremely mild.

lol, I'm sure you'll be missed.

Which grounds? Usually you just have stewards that border the away fans on both sides.

Going to a Milwall game was like going through a prison camp, barbed wire fence, Opposition Supporters were led down one tunnel, completely separate to the home fans, and even after a 4-0 loss they still were leaping at the fence, throwing bottles and objects at us. And that's the Championship. Did you see how Milwall behaved when they made the FA Cup SF?
