That’s the one.

I’m pretty sure they only Dry age on request. The rest of the meat is just your normal butcher meat. The business name is a bit misleading. The first time I went in there asking for some Dry age steaks and they didn’t have any.
yeah I have thought about going there before, but if the name is misleading I dont think I will

The butcher in the group of shops opposite Hoppers Crossing station (not the indoor mall) does some good King Island beef ribs fyi

Paddock to table dont do them anymore as they dont sell enough, but their briskets are great

Also for pork ribs in my experience surprisingly Costco do the best baby back pork ribs without a doubt

Dry age do have a Wagyu brisket option which I haven’t tried. Also, I haven’t tried the beef ribs there but my mate has cooked them a number of times and reckon they’re awesome. Is he post a pallet smoker and offset smoker to cook them and says they’re great.

He say mate does write paddock the table. Might have to check out the one in Hoppers. 👍🏻

Hey.

I’ve finally (10 plus years after everyone else) gotten around to organising my music downloads into playlists. So that if I go for a run (not so frequent these days) I have music, likewise the gym. Also lists organised by music genre which is classical, jazz and stuff that isn’t classical or jazz.

Recently I’ve been putting together a favourites list pretty much devoted to things that make me feel better. Or make me feel good anyway. The idea being that if it’s been a hard day and I really need to unwind and look after myself, I have a soundtrack of things that help me do that.

Wondered if any of you here have particular music that makes you feel good and helps you remember that the world isn’t always dreadful? Love to hear what it is. I need a longer list

What are peoples go to rewatch movies when they can’t be bothered starting something new?

For the last few years had has been LORT and the Batman trilogy.

Easy watch and epic movies.
My wife loves Armageddon so we watch that roughly monthly when 7Mate whips it out again. An easy mindless watch.

Love LOTR, but a bit long for something to flick on when bored. Have watched Gladiator a heap of times.

Used to watch Snatch a lot too, though haven't for a few years.

Never seen love actually. In fact I’ve never seen any of those type movies like four weddings in a funeral, Notting Hill, any of the Bridget Jones stuff and so on.

Love the western genre too.

Lastly, Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie.
Bridget jones terrible. Notting Hill terrible. Four Weddings less terrible so long as you overlook the performance of Andy McDowell. Love Actually is good.
Let me know if there are any other movies that you don’t watch so I can do so on your behalf.

Die Hard rocks because Alan Rickman.

Never seen any Harry Potter. Never seen any of the mummy movies. Don’t like the horror genre.

Will have a think and get back to you with more.

Thinking of watching the dollars trilogy again soon along with once upon a time in the west. Love Charles Bronson’s whistling.

Gladiator great watch, a go to for me also.

Lock stock and snatch I have to be in the right mood for but when I am they are awesome. So quirky and great twists.

I thought I liked Love Actually but I watched it last Christmas and realised I actually hate it. Emma Thompson the exception, carries the entire movie.

I like Gladiator, the politics in the background actually compliments the story well

My only problem with it, is that it takes a bit to get going. I love that it's not an exposition dump don't get me wrong. But that first half hour can really draggggggggggg

I see your point but I don't mind the slow build. It allows for the story to set up the motives and character of them.

For me it also creates a good narrative of someone with power, authority and charisma who has principles and doesn't want to rule but for duty, as opposed to Commodus who craves power and attention but is craven and has no honour.

I like when someone is critical of something that hasn't bothered me, so might give it a watch again with a critical eye over the first 30 minutes.

I don’t want it to be Christmas. I’m not in the mood and I’m not ready
Of all 365 days of a year, Christmas is the biggest waste day of the lot.

Everyone whinges about all the prep that has to be done, the need to buy thoughtful gifts and blah, blah, blah.

Don't and wont ever celebrate it. A free day for me where I can do whatever I want with almost no one around. Well it used to be but where I live now it has a very large migrant non western/Christian population so not a free as it once was.

Great day for a zoo visit too and from memory free entry.

What I'm not ready for is starting the 2025th year of our common era.

Agree. Think it's good to give the story that grounding and help define the characters, even if it's a slowish start.

PerfectFooty exactly 30 minutes in and have to say the build is great. Started with action then settled into character and story building.

From 30-35 it’s still all setting the stage for what makes the movie awesome. I think 35-45 is rushed

Watched Air Force One last night. Never seen it before. Didn't realise it was basically a beat for beat remake of Die Hard with more jingoism. The politics of that movie have not aged well but it's fun watching Harrison Ford say "Get off my plane."

7/10

Loved that movie when I was younger. Haven't seen it in ages now, but I distinctly remember that Ford and Oldman are super entertaining in it.

On the subject of comfort movies, the Back to the Future trilogy is the ultimate in feelgood, nostalgic comfort.

As for recently, I watched Dune: Part 2 last night. It was good, but as with the first one a lot of the story is incomprehensible. Why can that guy float? How are so many people alive in a inhospitable desert? Why are any of these characters doing any of the things they're doing?

Anyway, the giant worms are cool.

Yeah it was a blast. Knew exactly what it was and leant into the camp. Oldman is completely chewing the scenery the whole time.

My favourite bit is when a missile is fired at the plane and one of the US jet fighters does a "GET DOWN MR PRESIDENT" and takes the hit.

Yeah i'm not completely knocking it. I think it could have been done a bit faster, but it doesn't bother me. But i can see how some people can tune out a little at the start, it has to do a lot of establishing

The one thing i will complain about the movie for and it's not even the movies fault, with the composer for the score a lot of the music ended up being refitted into pirates of the Caribbean because of Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, pirates 2 and 3) and his friendship with Klaus Badelt (Pirates 1, works with Zimmer) So when i'm watching it there are certain parts where it feels like it's going to go full pirates of the Caribbean but not quite, but then it distracts me from the events of the movie lol

lol, didn’t know that but this is the sort that would do my head in too. I haven’t really watched any pirates. Maybe the first one.

Can help right away with the Harry Potter movies - I’ve seen all of them.

Lovely to look at with magical special effects (you’d hope so) and a wild cast of names. And with only a couple of exceptions in a couple of the movies, the stories are paced well and nothing drags.

Maybe because they are movies for kids really, for me they often have a somewhat campy quality - basically a really nice show that doesn’t quite hit the dark moments. And occasionally when you get a very true scene that is dark and painful, it sticks out against a background of fairly uninterrupted charm.

My quarrel with the movies, and books, is you can see the ultimate ending from the very beginning and I reckon Dumbledore is a bit of a dickhead. No wonder some of his students went over to the dark side.
