The richest men and women of their time have been funding political campaigns and government policy for centuries.

But now that a rich guy is racist and anti lgbt enough for you, suddenly it’s ‘aw shucks, no point in mentioning it’.

Where’s his internet activity? You can’t be an edgelord without being engaged online. We know 2/5ths of **** all about him.

Anyway, that’s beside my point, failed attempt or not, assignation attempt on a president former or the outlying favourite in the upcoming election should be headline news for weeks. I bet if someone tried to assassinate Harris, that story would have been in the news every single day up till the election

Why don’t you think it was a false flag?

Not sure if you’re joking or not, but there are people that do believe that. I was out for dinner on Saturday night and there was a couple there that were adamant that it was a set up. It was pretty funny.

Scallop Industry Thug is spot on though.

So many people spent so much energy talking about how Democrats lost because they were out of touch and weren't connecting with the working class and blah blah blah.

But they say nothing about America now defacto being run by an oligarchy.

(And the whole 'that's always been the case, that's nothing new' excuse is a cop-out).
What is this "now" bullshit???

Its not a cop out. You're basically saying the old oligarchy was okay but we don't like these new guys taking our master's jobs.

Occupy Wall St and the vicious crack down on it happened under the Democrats. Most of the humungous post covid wealth shift did as well.

If the Democrats had actually acted to dismantle the oligarchy that runs the US then they wouldn't have lost the election and they wouldn't have lost in 2016 either cos they'd have run with Sanders.

Not acknowledging this and working to change the Democrat Party is the actual cop out in this situation.

Because it means nothing will change next time.

Is it just me or, or is more media attention being given by the bloke that took out the ceo of the health insurance company than has been given to the bloke who tried to assassinate Trump?
That's because taking out CEOs is a real threat to the oligarchy Chad hates so much ince the last US election.

One year ago since the Wieambilla terror attack.

The Ultimate Sacrifice is a hard listen but one that is important
It wasn't really a terror attack. Those nutcases were on their own property when they ambushed and murdered those cops and their neighbour.

I'm sorry, can you please point out the last time the Democrats elected a billionaire president?

Or the last time the democrats appointed the world's richest man into their administration?

Or the last time the democrats had six billionaires in their cabinet?

I could go on and on.

This attempt to "both sides" this issue as if there's anything close to an equivalence is some fence-sitting 'I am very smart' nonsense that ignores simple facts.

Being a centrist contrarian doesn't make you enlightened, especially when to do so you have to undertake mental gymnastics that would leave Simone Biles impressed.

You're the "Im very smart" clown in this discussion.

Biden's worth is millions of dollars, Trump's is billions.

What is the difference for an ordinary person who is choosing between food and fuel or struggling to pay their rent?

I could go on and on.

You do go on and on but you don't understand that whichever of those ****s gets elected, no one will be paying appropriate tax or royalties on what's left of the gas in Bass Strait.

You're the "Im very smart" clown in this discussion.

Biden's worth is millions of dollars, Trump's is billions.

Let's look at some recent President's reported net worth's at the time they were elected, shall we?

Joe Biden net worth: $10,000,000~
Kamala Harris net worth: $8,000,000~
Barack Obama net worth in 2008: $1,300,000~
Bill Clinton net worth in 1992: $1,300,000~

Donald Trump: $3,000,000,000

Get the Eff outta here with this "these are both the same" BS arguments. Most of the Clinton/Obama/Harris/Biden wealth was tied up in the homes they owned. Yeah, sure, they're definitely "wealthy" compared to the average workers. No arguments here whatsoever.

But this notion that their wealth is anywhere comparable to that of Trump, Musk, and the oligarch billionaires he's appointing to his cabinet? Literal nonsense.

Trying to argue otherwise just makes you look foolish, and like you'll twist facts however you want in order to defend conservatives.

oligarch
/ˈɒlɪɡɑːk/

noun: oligarch; plural noun: oligarchs
  1. 1.
    a ruler in an oligarchy.

  2. 2.
a very rich business leader with a great deal of political influence

But don’t you agree with me?

I’m looking forward to your analysis of why AOCs investment property makes her a ruling class lackey who is disqualified run in 2028 whilst you hang musk posters on your ceiling.

I hope AOC or someone similar does run and she runs on her actual beliefs. She shelved a few. Why do you think I have Musk posters on my wall? Because I don't hate him?

Have you ever heard of something called the glass steagall act?
it was dismantled by a guy called Robert Rubin when under Clinton, basically when banking in America went crazy, paved the way for things like the sub mortgage crisis.
Rubin ended up being a C suite at Citi, who ended up picking Obamas cabinet, you get the gist.

Now what's all of their net worth now after leaving office?

This bloke literally uses RT, has been pumping out Putin disinformation and is friendly with Tucker Carlson.

You’re all cooked.

The disinformation is punching you in the face and you carry on with this veneer of finding it where others can’t.

The owner of the platform you quote from literally bankrolled and campaigned for a billionaire candidate with business interests everywhere. How do you not see it?

Disinformation? Please.

Do I have to quit a platform because of my opinion of the owner?

I've already addressed the richest in society backing politicians. It's an abhorrent part of politics, happens on all sides and quite a few of them donate to both sides. Elon Musk seems to make you unhappy more than others for some reason.

Did you care when Jack Dorsey was giving money to the Democrats? Ironically in 2020 it was mostly to Tulsi Gabbard.

It just comes across as Musk hate more than anything. Look up the Adelson family, Bloomberg and Reid Hoffman. If you want to get into arguments about how billionaires are campaigners then I don't think there will be many arguing the other side.

What about these people having so much money upsets you?

Is it because Trump has a donor in the white house as opposed to hiding in the shadows?

Do prefer it when these very rich people, but not billionaires, make a shitload from insider trading, war and corruption?

Murdered* their neighbour

Any star gazers out there? Hojuman

Big weekend for meteor showers!

Australia's top meteor shower, the Geminids, will grace our skies again this weekend.

The annual shower, which is formed when the Earth moves through the debris of a weird asteroid called 3200 Phaethon, peaks in the early hours of Saturday, December 14.

Keen stargazers might also catch some meteors in the early hours of Friday and Sunday if you know where — and most importantly — when to look.

Death, taxes and US presidents shitting their pants 🤣💀

LOL, gold Jerry...

One of my favourite stories of all time is Morrison and Engadine Maccas, for something that supposedly happened in '97.
One of those urban myths, happened or not, who really cares but the fact he had to address the rumour on the largest radio programme of the day? yeah its absolute gold, only in Australia would someone be that egotistical they would need to set the rumour straight as to whether or not they soiled themselves two decades or so before....

Yes that was hilarious

Awesome stuff Joe. Love these stargazing things that pop up, but usually read about them too late. Haven't got the telescope out of storage yet either.
