So on a shitful note, my father in law died on Wednesday. The day before my mother in law had multiple massive strokes and she will not see out the weekend.

Life is a real shit sometimes. Wifes family in a bit of shock.
Sorry to hear this Joff. Thoughts are with you and your family.

That's terribly sad.
Condolences to you and your wife and her family, Joffa.

So, get @#$%^ everything associated with AFL and Foxtel today.

Saw the Pies match fine, then;

TV failed to load anything Foxtel wise, because apparently 12mb a second isn't great.
PS4 failed to load anything Foxtel wise, because apparently the same 12mb a second isn't great.
PC loaded Foxtel, only it cut out after 5 minutes then cut back in after 20, then cut out again.
Live App was about 7 minutes behind.

Go fornicate with a goddamn blender you pack of monkeys.

Its a disgrace what they put up for streaming services as well. I use watchafl and I have to use the lowest quality to stop it buffering every 5 seconds and it looks like garbage because of it. How I can stream 60fps1080p video free from youtube with ZERO problems off a 10mb connection and then get served up that shit is ****ing beyond me.

Thanks for the thoughts. 90 and 89 but to lose both in a ciuple of days is rough.
Sadder for the 30+ grandkids as they were great grandparents (literally as well).

The waiting is the toughest for the family.
Not cool, best wishes to you and your family

One of the best live bands going around at the moment. Cash Savage is such a legend, she's so much better live too.

Yeah they were awesome! Had the small crowd (tiny venue) pumping from the get-go. Cash Savage prowls the stage like an angry big cat
Ended up buying a vinyl (yes, that's how hip I am. I'm off to buy a coffee filled avo skin now)

Yeh I've seen them 3 times now and it's awesome every time.

Unfortunately I was in such a shitty mood after the game on Saturday that I didn't enjoy Skunkhour anywhere near as much on Saturday night. Don't know what it was, I just couldn't quite get into it. Their performance was good though.

This is why I laugh at people who give foxtel shit
Oh but netflick blah blah

Oh really netflick huh, steaming huh???
Yeah with cable Internet lol

I can't tell if this is for or against NBN / Foxtel / Netflix

4.1Mb is pretty rubbish download speed btw. Did you mean 41Mb?

Without really knowing, i suspect that most of the providers oversubscribe their capacity , then do silly bugger things to your bandwidth to squash it all in.

I'm pretty happy for other people to spend ludicrous amounts of money on mobile data, unless they are only using small amounts.
Meanwhile i'm eagerly awaiting the NBN to replace the old bits of twisted wire that run between my house and the exchange, via a dozen water filled pits.

YAY ADSL. This is what the internet looks like girls and boys.

But ... where's the black box around the size of a tissue box with the light on it?

We actually have screaming matches in our house along the lines of.

"The internet has dropped out , look i have no bars ".
"That's not the internet that's the wifi "
"Its the same thing "
"No its not "
"Yes it is, reset it "
" No .. everyone else has the internet so its your tablet "
"your laptop is using it all "
"I'd love to make my laptop hog it all , but how do i even do that "?

Yeah the NBN is so expensive the service providers share out the amount of access they buy from Telstra. Most are slower than ADSL 2 because of it, soon they are forcing people to take it up because it's a lemon and someone has to pay for it. It was a complete **** up and needs to be thrown away and started again.

Should have stuck with FTTH.

****ing Lib campaigners.

Only winner is their benefactor Slimy Murdoch.

Oppps

lol
takes 2 mins to get a 40min tv show
landline takes over half an hr for same show
max I hit on landline adsl is around 750mb
max on mobile is 4.5kb

50$ for 22 gig on the mobile
ill take speed and pay a bit extra over cheaper data that is painfull slow every day of the week

but thats just me
This is still mega confusing.
Kb is a smaller unit than Mb.

Anyway, $50 for 22GB is pretty expensive, when you consider I get 300GB for $60 (and that's only because I live outside the metro area, otherwise for $60 you generally get unlimited downloads). I'd use up 22GB in less than a week.

My speed on ADSL is around 17Mbps down (that's Mega bits per second, for those who don't know but might care), so for a typical DVD quality 1 hour show (700MB - Mega Bytes ... 8 bits to a byte and all that) equates to around 6GB / hour that I can download. So around 12min for that 1 hour show. I'm ok with that.

Still, FttN is gonna suck, at least until the "shared" period is over, and likely will still be sucky even afterward. If you get 12Mbps on FttN, then the NBN will say that's fine, regardless of what speed bracket you might be paying for.

Now that FttN has been delayed in my area, I'm hopeful that they'll deploy a new technology instead, such as FttC (fibre to the curb).

Of course
That's why HUN and Telegraph would slam Labor's NBN plan at every possible turn

Foxtel hate the idea of streaming

Well done ,for $50 you can watch 4 high definition movies, if it cost any more it would be cheaper to buy the bluerays.

I'm in the burbs so i get the unlimited pricing, but our ADSL is a shocker. We get 500MB on a good day, but the big problem is drop outs, i can't even consider a streaming service how it stands. Complaints only resulted in Telstra reducing the noise threshold //ie slowing down the line. But the real issue is what's causing the noise, which i suspect is water, given its always worse after the rain.

In my case I'm looking forward to FTTN because even if its underwater it shouldn't have the crap problems i'm getting.
People in newish area's have the worst internet, because there are no above ground poles to staple cables onto , they just have the underground (waterlogged ) phone cables. The Brand new areas all have FTTN installed from the get go.
What really annoys me is i have massive optic fibers owned by Optus and Telstra in my back yard. One of these days i'm going to go and knock out the phone lines to Tasmania with a shovel and just tell the police the Apex gang did it.

Yep, I used to get this quite often

Yep, I used to get this quite often

I saw a story ( complete with photographs ) where some guy had his house on the low side of the street in a very hilly area.
He found a small water leak in his garage and traced it to the telstra box.
He undid the screws on the box and water started gushing into his garage , effectively draining the pit in the street through the conduit to his house.
