Only stretch after running and at toning classes.
I have been very inflexible my whole life.

Basically its just age Sunny. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

I know how you feel...
I started Pilates not so I could run a marathon or lift my own weight.
Rather to retain my flexibility for the years ahead.
Unfortunately my old man sat in a chair for the better part of his last two decades. And lost quality of life.
Pilates has worked for me so I’m a convert.
You’re time poor with your running commitments (plus life), but if you ever get an opportunity I’d strongly recommend you look at it.
BUT: have private classes. That one on one is incredibly important. Pilates at it’s best revolves around quite minor muscle movement. Correctly done, the benefits are great.

Qualified PT of 9 years here.

Pilates is excellent! Depends on your goals but pilates is great for the reasons you mentioned.

Have done it a few times, with my age (28) I prefer just doing the standard weight lifting, cardio and supplements but for those a bit older it's fantastic.

I don't think I knew we were the same age. Kewl.

I go to gym. Sometimes.

I burn my calories at Revs.

I did. Disagree. Are you talking about x-rated ones? I just got a standard Thai massage, kept my privates private.

Yeah I had the one with old ladies who don't look strong enough to remove muscle from bone but they had a go anyway. Bali the same. None of the ones I get would be the types you'd be asking for anything but therapy from.

th

Get well soon boss.

I intermittent fast
Don't eat white bread, only rye once a week, if that
No rice, no pasta
Chicken, broc and beans 5 days a week

Food is just fuel to me now
No cardio apart from skipping for half hr a week
Light weights for 20 mins a day
Stretching is my key......I do it daily for half hr

I’ve tried & effectively implemented IF, calorie control diets, high protein-low carb diets high fat & carb cycling to name a few.

At the end of the day, everything we are taught as kids about a balanced diet is spot on. Restrict processed foods, don’t overeat, minimise sugar intake & reward yourself to avoid bingeing.

Consistency is the key IMO. Keep it simple, sustainable & doable.

Breakfast: oats with choc protein powder, fruit (usually berries), 2 x whole eggs & 4 x egg whites

Lunch: brown rice + 150 grams of chicken breast + sauce (tomato or bbq)

Dinner: red meat or fish (usually salmon) + green veg + serving of complex carbs

Desert: Greek yoghurt + fruit (berries again) + protein powder (add choc protein to Greek yoghurt for a choc frushe like goodness)

Can’t always be as strict as above however getting close is close enough.

I don’t believe in restricting carbs/sugar totally, eating flexibly is far more sustainable for me but each to their own. Need to have some enjoyment in eating IMO.

I rarely touch any kind of bread unless it’s pizza or burgers which is my go to ‘reward meal’ once a week, usually Friday nights. I don’t actively skip breads but I guess I’m just not a big fan of breads. I prefer hot meals with brown rice.

I very rarely drink alcohol, don’t smoke & don’t touch rec drugs. Caffeine is my only weakness which I consume by the barrel. This obviously helps greatly to being healthy & lead a healthy lifestyle.

Training consists of weights only with the key being increase volume over time for them gains. I’ve tried so many different weight programs over the years however most are a complete waste of time once you’ve achieved some noob gains. Focus for me is on four key lifts - deadlifts, squats, bench press & military press. Implement hypertrophy & strength focused sets/rep ranges across the program.

My cardio consists of walking which I do routinely as part of an active lifestyle & don’t need to do during gym time. It helps to have crazy kids to chase around as well.

You fitness freaks are making me feel very inadequate. Got a classic dad bod and luckily I don't drink so the pot belly stays within reasonable proportions.

I know that eventually I'm going to have restart exercise to get rid of it, my dad told me it's much harder to get into shape after you hit 50 than before so when the kids demand a little less time I'm going to try and get back on the elliptical machine that currently gathers dust in the corner of our living room and maybe even restart swimming regularly which I loved but took too much time.

I'd hate to imagine a life without bread products though: no croissants, no pizza, no sandwiches? Shit man, this is France! I eat sandwiches from the local bakery every day for lunch, that might be a toughie.

So, up at 20 past 4am cause it sounds like someone was breaking in.
False alarm but if there was, I have a blunt axe and they were so very @$%^&ed.
Wake up at 5:30am to get ready to go to work, front door doesn't unlock. Bloody arseh*le locking mechanism in the morning.
Use the side door.

At this stage, I had spent 40 minutes trying to get my net working, because yay iinet!

On the way to work, what normally takes 1hr10 takes 1hr 57mins because accident on a side road and everyone funnels in to a 2 lane road, making me 20mins late to work since I expect Melbourne to have people who shouldn't own cars to be in cars on a road.

Work happens, it's great since people make me feel important.

I come home and internet is still off, old man informs me techs were out at the exchange across the road.

Restart all the things.
Cook pasta that I am now eating.
The internet turned back on after the third restart and there's no record that anything was ever amiss in the region since they billed me for the service I only got started about 5 minutes ago through self diagnostics since I studied system admin.

Yeah France is a nightmare, the bakers are ridiculous and butter there is so much better, I could have just eaten it by the handful. Cheese was unvbleivble too. Actually when I'm older I think I'll move to Paris and become an obese wanna be writer or something, sit around drinking breakfast wines with my pastries and sweating in my white suit and hat combo.

A rare show of contrition on an anon board where we all have our moments.
Fair play. Welcome back to the fold.
Play on.

I was listening to SEN tonight and they had a beer promo on where they gave the clues to the free slabs. It was right outside where I was driving my kids to footy training. Walked in, free slab. Life is good with free beer. It's Oranjeboom which is like shit Heineken but tastes better when I don't have to pay for it. There was no one else there and had a pile of them. If they offer them in your area you should grab them.
