I would be going with the second option, I think that the three rookie midifeld offers the most value, and the ammount of solid midfiled bench options makes the risk involved pretty low. I also really like how solid your defence gets from taking this option, and I think Gia is a steal at his current price. The only suggested change I would make is not to have Hille but this is just a matter of personal preferance, overall this is proberly one of the best teams I have seen posted on this thread.

Been playing around alot. Can't get my head around the backline. Any help would be awesome!!

So far this is my side:

Backs: Enright, Hodge, Shaw, Mackie, Suban, Kennelly, Waters (Mcguire, Salvagni) Mainly playing around with the last 3. Hunt and Ladson are most likely the inclusions to play around with. Tough choice.

Mids: Ablett, Selwood, Cooney, Ball, Trangove, Martin ( Barlow, Shuey)

Rucks: Jolly, Tippett ( Warnock, Lobbe)

Fwd: Roo, Pav, Buddy, LeCras, Medders, Hall, Danger (Rockliff, TDL)

:)

Backs - B.Goddard, L.Hodge, H.Shaw, L.Gilbee, H.O'Brien, R.Ladson, J.Hunt (P.Davis and J.Trengove (port))

Midfield - J.Selwood VC, S.Mitchell, A.Cooney, L.Ball, J.Trengove, D.Martin (M.Barlow and L.Shuey)

Rucks - D.Hille, N.Naitanui (R.Wornock and M.Lobbe)

Forwards - N.Riewoldt C, A.Goodes, J.Brown, S.Higgins, K.Tippet, J.Ziebell, B.Hall (T.Dennis-Lane and J.Podsiadly)

whats are you thought??? any glaring mis picks?? maybe some suggestions on some swaps. thanks in advance
I like the strategy as it's one I'm considering myself - forget about blowing cash on premium rucks and invest that money to strengthen the rest of the squad - although I'm not sure about some of the other players you've chosen.

ok guys here is my team

DEF: Duffeild, Hodge, Shaw, Dempsy, Malceski, Hunt, Waters (Farmer, Mcguire)

MID: Bartel, J. Selwood, Ball, Armitage, McVeigh, Martin (Barlow, Banner)

RUCK: Clark, Naitanui (Warnock, Skipper)

FWD:Riewoldt, ROK, Pavlich, Franklin, Gray, Betts, Dangerfeild (Rockliff, Gumbleton)

34.6K in the bank, any thoughts? no sure about Betts, if i should go for a hall, zeibell or ballantyne instead?
also looking for a suitable rooking option to replace farmer, preferably someone who is expected to play a majority of the games this year.

thanks in advance

Here's my latest team.

Not a bad looking team.
However not to certain about mcphee as hes pre season has been quite poor so he may not be guarentee starter.
also chriss judd is out for first 3 rounds but you got quality bench to support however that means you will have 4 rookies starting rd 1-3.

Thoughts on my team
Backs: Goddard, Gram, Enright, Hodge, Shaw, Ladson, Waters (Maguire, Silvagni)

Mids: Swan, J.Selwood, Mitchell, Ball, Scully, Martin (Schuey, Banner)

Rucks: Tippet, Hille (Skipper, Bass)

Forwards: Reiwoldt, Pavlich, Giansiracusa, Franklin, Gray, Dangerfield, Rockliff (Hitchcock, Podsiadly)

Cheers

Like the backline, obvious risks with both Ladson and Waters that your aware of
Great mids, Maybe with the injuries at the Hawks you could find a better option than Mitchel but he is a class player
Rucks - Hille only concern due to the obvious
Forwards - Risky having Rockliff as a starter and Gray has some injurey that is being kept a secret

Apart from the issues you would be aware of a pretty good 30 if the cards fall your way IMO.

My side

B - Enright, Hodge, H.Shaw, Gilbee, P.Stewart, Ladson, Hunt (Maguire, Trengrove)
M - Ablett, Dal Santo, Watson, Cooney, Martin, Barlow (Shuey, Banner)
R - Sandilands, Tippett (Warnock, Skipper)
F - ROK, Pav, Higgins, Buddy, Ziebel, Hall, Dangerfield (Rockliff, D.Stewart)

Thats its folks please feel free to rip it to threads as it really would be appreciated

This is a good team and has similarities with mine (I'm having trouble posting mine as an image)

Personally I would make Selwood capt though, he's set for a breakout year.

Hunt and Kenelly are absolute bargains at those prices and the rest of the defence picks itself. You may want to change Fisher though given his injury?

As with all of us, you need better ruck backup (if you have the cash).

I have a query on Brown and whether Fev will cannibalise his scoring, so maybe a change there, but other than that I really like your team.

Nah I've always gone the same way...make 3 or 4 mids absolutely expensive stars to rack up your triple figures, and the other 4 young players who'll make money and grow in stature. I think it's fine having that many so long as they're guaranteed selection, which Martin Trengove et al, and even Barlow, probably are. Shuey I'm not so sure whether he's a lock for 22 games but otherwise I think you've done good.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I'm questioning Johnson and Hill at the moment. Midfield a bit risky but may pay off. Thoughts?

I'd go Enright over Mackie...Mackie can be brilliant but is inconsistent.

SJ is always a risk, but with him or Chappy there's great reward to that risk.

I'd also consider Rob Murphy at his price...I still think Hall will brain snap with his fist.

Any tips for a forward under 117,000? I already have Rockliff and Gumbleton on the bench.

And thoughts on Hille? Too injury prone for a starter?

The obvious choice is Podsiadly. The other choice might be Polak (now he's upgraded) depending on his price.

Hille...maybe. Although you take the same risk with Ottens and I picked him so I'd be a hypocrite to have a crack at you.

they are actually clark and sandilands
not hille

I think this is a great team. My only concerns is whether Pods will get a game in the 22 with Mooney, Hawk, Ottens all fit? He may but if he doesnt perform straigh up I reckon the y will drop him. Geel is a hard team to get into. Also I personally prefer Kelly to Carrazzo. Carrazzo has good upside but it looks like he will be a tagger this year which will limit his scoring. Whilst Kelly is back a full fitness and should be part of a high scoring Cat outfit.

Intersting that you have Waters a 152 on the bench. I dont mind this. What is your thinking here.

thanks mate. its good to hear some positive feedback so close to lockout.

ive got waters on the pine because i dont like the depth up back. ive also got him because if ladson or hunt goes down (which is likely) he can come in and he'll certainly score better than a rookie back. i think hes just at a low enough price to be on the bench. a few $k more and ill would leave him out.

i think this will be a popular strategy

Pretty good side, couple of things u could improve though.

I'll start with your midfield.
The 3 Rookie in mids strategy is pretty common this year and seems a good option so wouldnt worry too much about it. Get rid of Judd though as he is suspened for the first 3 weeks!! And i'm not sure Morabito is best 22 at this stage so i'd trade him either for Scully or downgrade to a banner or Bastinac and play Barlow on the field; this could save u a good 60k.

With the money possibly saved in mids i'd consider getting rid of McPhee as his preseason form has been woeful from all reports and at that price you should be looking at keeper material. And Jarred Waite has good potential but coming off such a severe injury he may start slowly and you can then pick him up later at a lower price. If you take my advice on morabito you could then upgrade this duo for Shaw and Hodge, but its your team so your call :)

Aside from that the Rucks and Forwards look good.

This is my team and most likely the line-up i will be using going into round one
just abit unsure on my backline.
Is it unwise to be starting both Maguire and Hunt with no real back up on the bench?
Any critisism on the whole line-up would be much appreciated

Very nice structure!!!

Backline is sic with 5 keepers (like mine :thumbsu:) - Goose starting could be a problem, my advice is maybe get a waters/kennelly...
Mids are perfect for a 3 rookie stratagy - tbh id be to scared :(
Rucks are very nice - im more of a sandi man as he is so solid!
Forwards cant be better....

What u think of mine?

Backs - Goddard, Enright, Hodge, H. Shaw, Mackie, Kennelly, Hunt
(Maguire, Silvagni)

Mids - Bartel (c), Boyd, Ball, Masten, Martin, Barlow
(Shuey, Banner)

Rucks - Sandilands, Hille
(Warnock, Skipper)

Forwards - Roo, ROK, Gia, Grey, Zeibell, Hall, Dangerfield
(Rockliff, Podsiadly)

A big 0 left in kitty lolz,

Concerns over Hille - but should be back on track...hopefully
3 Cats in defence.....
An option i have is to go Mackie/Hille OUT Dempsey/Tippett IN
Another one is to upgrade silvangi/podsiadly to like davis/gumby or hitchcock.....

thx for help,

I like it, similar set up to mine. Although the mid priced forwards are different. With that being said i haven't watched much of the NAB cup this year.
So any comments would be appreciated.
