I distinctly remember feeling guilty about some things said in the third quarter after his effort in the last. he likes the big games i think, even if hes a bit of a plodder

He had a good game I thought. Just is a bit undersized and not gifted with pace. Can never really question his effort.

Cordy was actually huge in the last quarter, was a bit out of nowhere too.

Cordy was shifted off Georgiades who was threatening to win the game for them. Williams went to Georgiades and shut him down. Cordy went to Marshall and found him an easier proposition so was able to be more proactive.

What did Lipinski do/not do to deserve to be dropped? Personally thought he was ok, Hannan, Bevo singled him out in the press conference, I think he was just asked to compete in the air down the lines, he was in lots of contests wing/half forward for the bail out kick. They probably knew we were a tall short and wanted the ball to ground which happened on most occasions. I am not sure he is quick and Wallis played a similar role last year. English/Bruce is the bloke we want for that kick. R Smith didn't seem to be near it that much and was poor with the ball, again we don't know what his "role" in the team was, to me he goes before Lipinski for Hunter to come back in.

McNeil looks lively when he gets it but still not sure what to do on occasions. Scott, probably a bit like Hannan and Smith, what's his role and he hasn't looked like getting dropped.

For me -

Gardner (gee I hate typing that!) for Wood
English for Scott (If no English, play L Young as a 2nd Ruck/Fwd option, allows Bruce and Naughton to stay fwd all of the time)
Hunter for R Smith

McNeil/Scott very lucky but they are loved by the selection committee

Cordy played well last quarter but is consistently second to the ball, did not look like getting an intercept marks, got beaten one on one for 3/4 last night and every other game he has played this year. He did play 100% of game time last night, maybe he keeps going at one pace and the rest come back to him....

Can’t see Gardner coming straight back in without a game in the VFL.

Out: Wood, Lipi, R. Smith
In: Crozier, English, Hunter

I am a Lipi fan, but he needs to do more.

Bevo made mention of Hannan’s game so he will stay.

Maybe Scott is managed this week and is the medical sub and Lipi or Roarke stay in.

Crozier will be sub again like McNeil when he was managed only to come on in the first qtr.
Ins: English, gardner, Hunter
Outs: roarke/Hannan, wood, lipinski
Cordy down to third tall in place of wood where he is more comfortable

Crozier keeps his spot with Wood out.
Can’t drop Cordy after last night so Gardner back through Footscray as the Saints aren’t overly tall without Marshall.
Assuming they’re fit Hunter and English pick themselves. For me it would Lipinski and Hannan out, but after Bevo’s comments it might be Roarke instead of Hannan.

Cannot play Cordy and Gardner in the same backline. Cordy was good so Gards comes back through VFL. The balance was spot on in the backline all night so Croz straight in for Wood and leave it. If Croz does need a week off then Buku gets another go for mine.

I’m not seeing a whole lot to like in Hannans game atm but I’m guessing he stays in, hopefully with a string of games he starts to impact a bit more. Rourke was good but Hunter comes in for him, probably English for Lip, Lip didn’t really seem to have a role last night and we really need as much pace as possible around Tim, Naughty, Bruce & Hannan. Lip to sub.

I can't see how Wallis doesn't offer us more than a few like Lipinski, Scott, Hannan
Wallis is harder than any of those 3
Lipinski is as slow as Wallis, soft in the contest but a good decision maker with quality disposal
Scott and Hannan are a little quicker than Wallis, but Wallis is smarter and harder in the contest
I would like to see Wallis be given another chance. Seems to me the only reason he is out of the team is due to a lack of foot speed.
However, with JJ, Dale, Treloar, B.Smith and McNeil in the team we have sufficient pace across all lines and could do with another hard nut like wallis

To be honest I think we need to reevaluate what we need to get from our bottom 6 players on the day. We have a lot of star power getting a lot of the ball, so we need impact and role playing from people like scott mcneil and hannan. I get that wallis is playing well in the seconds in the middle, but i do not want to replace any of bont libba macrae hunter or treloars time on the ball with wallis. hannan offers more in the air, mcneil more at ground level. I want Wallis to earn some form and turn into a bit of a tory dickson type for him to regain his spot

Keath on King, Cordy on Membrey.

Rourke Smith should stay in because he goes in very hard and without fear. He has a couple of tools in the kit too - an overhead game and he has some speed. The players who need to go out are the ones who don't tackle, don't chase and are scared to be first to the ball.

I think you’re right.

Not every player is going to have 15+ disposals. There are always three or four or more players who don’t get much of the ball. The important thing is that they use the ball well, compete, convert, and play their role to the specifications required within the team plan.

Did you not see Smiths game in the Elimination final last year where he was consistently outmarked playing half forward?

Given the roles they are currently playing (wing/half forward/outside extra at the stoppage) I would have Roarke in the side over Pat Lipinski.

Lipinski obviously a lot more skilled and has higher upside but Roarke plays this role better at the moment.
