Truks a competitor no doubt, and a reckon there are a couple of blokes on our list with the same instincts however the onus has to be on the people around them to protect them from themselves, i would like to think our staff would never let jy go back on for example. Port were also pretty negligent with player welfare recently.

If he thought it was broken ribs its understandable he wanted to play thru the pain, played with them for a few weeks once and it sucks but its doable. But I don't know how staff are sposed to diagnose a punctured lung and lacerated spleen immediately after he comes off. They are serious injuries and would be masked but what seems obvious - the sore ribs, for at least a little while. Head knocks are obvious but there is so much body contact and those internal injuries are very rare.

maybe, i had brused ribs recently and fwiw i couldn't even draw a full lung of air. i agree probably doable to play on but at what cost and what value??

I doubt he'll be back to his best for 12 months. Non-contact for this year, and he'll lose a lot of muscle mass and fitness, and that takes time to put back on. A bit like Dusty when he had his kidney injury.

This has kind of become a must win. At least, it's a can win, which feels like progress. Thought the side went well enough to justify going in unchanged. Just looking at the VFL result I could see Duursma for Stephenson, maybe Stephens for Fisher or Tucker.
