Wasn't Bowes suppose to be the next big thing?..... He didnt do much on Saturday night
Are you serious? You're saying a first gamer on a back flank didn't do much? I thought he was ok, but certainly not poor given how the mids let him down. 11 touches, 3 tackles, 3 marks. Serviceable for a first year first gamer.

i was watching on tv and only started to see him involeved late 3rd quarter

What time are we playing? The less night games, with wet, dewy conditions the better. Hopefully the conditions are good and we can get our ball movement up and running without missing/slipping on every second disposal and carve them up like we know we can.

Also, if our midfielders could pick a man and stand somewhere near them when we dont have the ball, that would be great. Maybe just one of Ablett/Hall/Hanley (obviously not the coming weeks) in the midfield at one time with Barlow,Touk, Lonergan/Brodie, Swallow to provide a bit of defensive work.

Lonergan needs to play, he is a good defensive midfielder, id like to see him given full midfield time

we have 4 more saturday night home games, 1 more afternoon saturday game, 3 more saturday twilight and 1 sunday twilight game

Is he even close? I'm not seeing any suggestions to bring him in so he must have fallen out of favour pretty quickly? He did well last year I thought.
Has given way to The Future I think, would say we would need to have a couple of injuries to guys like Ainsworth who are mobile and playing predominantly forward

I hope we don't see him this year because that means the team isn't going well

I think we're in with a good shot here. Giants struggling with some key injuries and pace, plus their 3 pronged tall forward line doesn't always work and their side definitely looks slow as was shown yesterday.

I think we're a genuine 50-50 proposition next week and I like those odds.

He looked good in the preseason. Given the circumstances he's in it's understandable he was a bit slow.
I thought so too. He looked to have a lot of his zip back. Will need to give him a few more games when he gets back to properly assess. The Lions players were also right onto him whenever he touched the ball. I haven't watched the replay, and I know they're good players for us too, but we don't want to have Barlow and Rosa having to chase too much either, both of these guys also looked a bit on the slow side against the Lions.

Rocket is keen to develop his youth but as the commentators are saying, The Suns need grunt and a bit of mongrel. Both Lonergan and Davis can provide that whilst the young ones are developing. Last season Davis was ranked 1st in Score Assists, 2nd in Inside 50's, 4th in both Goals, 4th in Score Assists and 5th in Tackles. Lonergan was 3rd in Tackles and has a lot of years left in him. Dave Swallow was missed on Saturday and hope he is back against the Giants. The Giants will be brutal coming off their embarrassing loss and we will need grunt and hard bodies to stand up to them. For the young brigade I think Ainsworth has a real hard edge to him but do we really expect him to stand up in the rounds for 4 quarters? I'm glad we have signed him up for 4 years, he will be a great player for us.

I still believe we can pinch this, and get back on track. We're getting Giants off a taxing Adelaide belting in heat, 6 day break and forced changes from their increasing injury list. Coniglio is their most important mid, Patton under injury cloud, lack of run with no Whitfield and half back dash, Steve J looking slow, Deledio still out! Ripe to come out firing and bash them up good and Lynchie to redeem and give Davis a bath. Maysie destroyed them last game, we have Ablett, Hall, Miller, Barlow, Lyons, Rosa and a host of other experienced bodies vs Ward, Kelly, Scully, Griffen, Shiel (then drops away massively after those 5 in my opinion). Potentially Swallow and Lonergan to come in I would have thought?

Their defence was rubbish and rely heavily on their midfield.

We got this one guys :)

:thumbsu: I love it!

Now just got to hope among hope that your premonition comes to pass

 Looks like a tough game then.
Our last game was a ripper and hope this one reaches the same level. I think we got away with the 4 points because we ended with a fit bench and you were two down.
:D We needed them more last year anyway, so tks.

Think we'll be ok on Saturday, it was bloody hot in Adelaide but that kind of exhaustion fades quickly. It's the bruising and soreness that makes 6 day turnarounds hard IMO and we didn't really tackle often enough to get bruised much.
We are down Cogs and Leon will have to address the lack of run I think. Seemed like Zac Williams missed his mates carrying some of the load on Sunday.
Hopper a chance to play, and my guess would be Sam Reid for Muzungu. Wouldn't read too much into his selection, he can run all day and in the early season heat looked a good option I think.

Changes since we last played them and lost by a goal or so.

GC
OUT: Grant, Matera, Hallahan, Garlett, Davis, Nicholls, Shaw, Day
IN: Ablett, Ainsworth, Lyons, Witts, Barlow, Bowes, Saad, Hall

GWS:
OUT: Coniglio, Whitfield, ? (Wilson?)
IN: Shiel, ?

Of note in that game:
Coniglio had 33 touches (15 contested) and 4 tackles.
Mumford had 51 hitouts.

At least with Witts coming back in, Mumford won't have his share of the hit outs. And Cogs is a very vital player in their mids, but Shiel likely replaces him well.

We aren't without a chance. Our ins are very good compared to our outs.
