If I were to bet id say a hard surface at Docklands is probably not the right time . Id think we want fresh young legs on to max our speed at this early stage of the year …

but I have no idea on how Sam pulled up ..or their approach to managing him … or if they feel Duncan can contribute in preference to a younger player.

I'm slightly anxious because the saints have been a problem for us, so no part of me is assuming we will just turn up and win.

Watching the replay …there was a comment at one stage about Jackson indicating to SamDek about not having shin guards. Does it seems a bit strange if he is to play in the ruck that he does not have them on ?

Most Ruckmen wear them, maybe giving Sammy a heads up.

With the draw we have back half of the season we should be able to run into some teams that are bad and also lacking momentum.

Saints are always tough at Docklands. Based on the performances of last week, we should belt them. However, I expect them to bounce back at home and make it a bit of a slog. My tip is the Cats by 3-4 goals, though.

Exactly. This “300 games” thing is, I reckon, something the fans have made up.

I think the fans will want it because Mitch is one of the best human beings the club has ever had. But I'm not sure the coaches will do it. Remember this is the same coach that left Blake on 99 games all year and turfed out Mooney Milburn hunt possibly etc and others for youth-he can be ruthless. Then again we might carry him to 300 in our easy kill games during the year (like how hawthorn did the breust sub thing(.

Came back from a Perth trip against Freo which was a slugfest.
They were gassed and Saints had a second wind.

Me personally I think its an excuse when we use the trip to Perth as eg was a slug festival or its a big trip etc...
These guys are professional athletes and they have the best everything at there door ...
There was excuses on interstate trips when we 16 in a row in 2022

I feel like this is one of our losable games. Hopefully the Cats can steam roll the Saints off the ground though, they should be able to after how we played compared to them in Rd1. Maybe having Smith there will make the difference, he’s played a lot of Marvel Stadium games when he was at the Dogs.

Perfect opportunity to play Clark full time in the middle. This will be a scrappy defensive game.

Quite happy Battle is no longer there for St Kilda. Those agile 6ft'4 defenders always match our forwards well.

In Mannagh and Stanley , reason is Marshall is a gun and will bully SDK in the ruck, so he will need help.

Marshall had a bad hip preseason, very underdone, and with that, looked a bit cooked in his game last week.
That said, he is a brilliant ruckman, and no escaping the fact we were very keen to get him to Geelong.
This is a real danger game, as we will not cop them as the insipid team they were last week, and not sure if many of our players can double up- Danger, Smith, DeK...we shall see.
