Autopsy Rd 3 v Essendon. Blues win by 15

I've noticed both White and Rowe get around Macreadie and Marchbank as often as possible as well. If they do something that helps us like blocking the run of play they'll give them a pat on the back and a bit of verbal encouragement. It's probably a coaching directive as well, but it's really helping to settle the kids into the team. All the young guys know the senior players are looking after them and want them to succeed.

The more input they give, the quicker these young kids learn and develop.
Just like Hawthorn did when they were a good team.

I reckon you blokes are going to be pretty decent this year and beat some good sides. No shame in getting belted by sides like richmond as they look in the competitions elite.

Got chewed out severely by 3 clients today, smashed into a car on the West Gate in peak hour 4pm traffic heading back into the city.

Jeez, doesn't a good win make the shitty days you have thru the week make like water off a ducks back!!
:)
Well, that and knowing that I get to see 'Born Slippy' and 'Exhale' live by Underworld at the Arts Centre tonight!

SPS' attitude and passion is pretty amazing. And his goal celebrations - instead of doing some annoying lairising signal or facial expression like some players do, he gets all passionate about the jumper.

What a ripper of a kid.

Not sure how Worsfold could have Goddard and Heppell Coaches votes and kept a straight face when he handed them in.
Heppell dropped marks and got run down numerous times. The only good thing he did was a mis-kick that found Langford
Goddard had very little influence apart from his skidding goal.

Highlight for me. Worked himself to be present in most plays and the small things meant a lot.
Watched the game again to prove what I saw first time round and had have it been a dry day, he would have been touted as being miraculous.
Works as hard going back as he does when forward. Murphy & Gibbs will be impressed by what they see.

Plowman - What a catch. Even if Lloyd doesn't think so.

Interesting the way things are viewed. I had an Essendon fan complain about Heppell having a stinker where I thought he was one of the only players who could actually pick the ball up and was very effective. I also though Goddard was one of their best because he actually hit a target which you could not say any other Essendon players did.

Certainly in their best players but in the top 5 on the ground?

I took my wife to see Beauty and the Beast on Sat night, and I now have rather sore ribs.
I was checking the scores throughout the movie and when we were in front with about 3 min to go I made the fateful decision to watch it live on my phone. When we kicked the sealer I may have cheered a tad to loud for the movies ( it was the climatic ending) and received an almighty whack in the ribs followed by a rather terse "Shut the hell up"
But it was very much worth the pain.

Took my boy to Melbourne to watch this game. He, like my other son, are carlton members, and I take them once each to Melbourne each year to see the blues get pasted.... But not this time...He was ecstatic.....
We sat in front of the unofficial standing Essendon cheer squad (the really, really pissed ones...) Just inside of gate four. We meek carlton supporters copped it all game from them... Including the Adams Family chant (... Your sister is your mother, your uncle is your brother.... You know the one).
We won't forget the final siren moment when every man woman and child blues supporter got to their feet and turned around and hurled abuse at these blokes.....
The police and security were on show......
**** I loved this game... Now my son, whilst previously leaning to the lions (can't escape it living in Brisbane), is now fully BLUE.
Oh, and the picture I got for him with Sticks before the game also helped ;-)

Not long before they ask for rat-tails? :)

says who? sorry but that is absolute bs. it's like an old wives tale. these kids are better equiped than most of our senior players. people seem to think they need to be protected like they are fragile little babies. go to training and stand next to them, they are men. if any players were a bit behind in size and physique it was williamson & macreadie. seem to handle it fine. Cuningham is as strong as any, Polson is a young bull and Fisher has absolutely no fear. I am not saying play all of them at once but to say they need to be held back is wrong. One key reason we won yesterday was the energy and excitement the younger players brought to the side. the senior players feed off it and there is an energy around the club because of it. When the younger players are tired or struggling then you rest them but to deny them senior games is wrong and achieves nothing. The only one not ready at this point is Kerr and Lebois (inj) the rest could easily play this week and a few people may well be surprised at how well they go

replace kerridge palmer and/or thomas with polson cuningham and/or fisher and I reckon may even do better. actually I am sure of it
Says me.
Do you forget how many hidings GWS and GC took in the first year or two. We need a good mix of experience and youth.

Agree but the experienced players need to perform as well. Just don't play them because they are experienced. In Murphy Gibbs Kruezer Simpson etc we have great examples anyway

I was at game, although up in 3rd level and near impossible to tell numbers of players. Going to have to watch a video again just to even catch some of debutant Tom Williamson work. Barely knew Macreadie played too. Not a big fan of these numbers on back.
The club should have put solid white numbers on the back of the junpers.

Here's one for you guys and girls I thought you might enjoy...

On Sunday, I was heading down to the rooms after the game. Because it's a good idea to get in there before the players do, I was already in the elevator before the final siren went.

At the MCG, the rooms for opposing teams are reasonably close together, so I had to walk past the Carlton rooms in order to get to ours.

As I went past the Blue rooms, I see SOS coming in the other direction, obviously on his way to the Carlton rooms.

I'm a reasonably tall bloke, gut geez SOS is a fair unit - taller than I expected.

Any way, we're basically walking on the same path but in the opposite direction. As he gets close to me, he looks at me and moves a little bit to the side (you know, two people cross paths the polite thing to do is move a little out the way).

He looks at me, pretty emotionless, and then out of nowhere gives me the slightest little wink and smug smile, before returning to complete emotionless and keeps walking.

Cheeky bastard.

SOS may be a nice bloke but he is a competitive bastard when it comes to football too. Seeing an Essendon supporter leaving early, would have been to his liking. I also heard Bolts and SOS and one or two officials had some special celebration in private straight after the game. This game obviously meant a lot to them in the young teams development. For SOS with his son Jack having to wait over 10 games to taste his first victory would have been extra special too.

He probably read your posts on the main board.

It does seem somehow fitting that SOSAJ's first win was against the Bombers.

Would have made it all that more special.
