People will be quick to blame the coaching and specifically Bolton, but ultimately poor disposal leads to breakdowns in game plans.

Not enough manning up allowed the Swans to get cheap chip kicks until they found a target, whereas we were found wanting with poor disposal and blind bombs down the line.

The same people who were calling for Phillips to be dropped last week I’m sure are now calling for Lobbe to be dropped...

The good:

  • E Curnow played really well. Impressed with his game.
  • Jones did a fantastic job on Franklin, take a bow.
  • Walsh continues to improve but like other young mids is panicking and dropping it on the boot.
  • Big H played well but struggled without Charlie and Gov, getting extra attention and ultimately ran out of legs.
  • Marchbank showed why he was put straight back in the team, Plow also showing some strength down back.
  • Daisy continued strong form.
  • Cripps being his usual self. It’s night and day watching him compared to the young guys. When he gets the ball he slows down and finds a target whereas they’re hurried to get a disposal.

The bad:
  • disposal, disposal, disposal... Newman, Dow, Fisher, Walsh etc were just atrocious with the ball. Absolutely killed the game.
  • The forward line fell apart once we lost Gov. Players needed to drop the eyes and find a target, just not good enough.
  • Dow, just hasn’t looked confident all season. Needs to realise he has more time than he thinks he does.
  • 50%+ of this board who can’t understand why we lose and jump on blaming a particular player or the coach. This place just gets so bloody toxic it’s hard to read.

Before the thread is overwhelmed by the ‘always positive’ posters who can’t see the trees through the forest.

I’ve hung in there with Bolton, but now I’m officially of the belief he is not the coach that will make the most of our list.

Call it selection errors, call it lack of structure, call it lack of viable gameplan, call it lack of game day plan b game plan, call it lack of forward pressure, call it what you will... but the point is the buck stops with the coach and Bolton just doesn’t have the ability to fix any of those.

Btw, anyone know why McGovern was benched the entire second half?

A few who just are not good enough at the moment the disposal was fairly poor and we still have not learned to make the most of our opportunities...
On the plus side Walsh is a great pick up SPS is looking better all the time as is Mckay,, Setterfield looks handy and if McGovern can stay fit we have a good one

I would much prefer to play the slower JSOS or Kennedy up forward..at least they can take a mark and they couldn't offer any less pressure than the current setup.

Big miss by Levi but I guess we expected that.

Couple early misses cost us a decent early break.

3 weeks in a row we have control of a game and the opposition coach makes adjustments and we are left scratching our heads.

We have more than enough talent on the field we just don’t have a coach who knows what he is doing. 3 wins from 35 matches, enough said.

I’m starting to consider agreeing with you

Polson is not up to it. Gibbons may need some time in the NBs to polish up whatever it is Bolton wants him to do.
Good to see Ed lock in a forward role, and kick goals.
Must keep Harry deep in attack.
Kade Simpson. Tough call, but getting close to his use by date.
Still perplexed why Kennedy was sitting in the stands. As stupid a non-selection as Harry's last year.

Really disappointing. Started well and then went nearly two quarters where we only kicked one goal. At the game the biggest thing you notice is how well opposition teams spread from contests compared to us. We never seem to have any options.

Our ability to clear D50 is horrible as are most of our F50 entries. So much kick and hope. We look good when we kick to a leading forward but we just don't do it enough.

Really impressed by Walsh. Crippa fantastic, Ed and Liam great too. Not a whole lot else. Too many passengers.
