Obviously incredibly frustrating.

On a positive note Stocker has IT in spades. One touch player with great skills on either side of the body. Plenty of mongrel too thank goodness.

Willo getting more miles into his legs, another player with mongrel.

Marchbank was outstanding. Really getting match fit now. Excellent long term prospect.

Cunners looked good, loved his power and finishing. I was a doubter but he is proving to be a bonus.

Weiters has become the player we hoped for.

Charlie finding touch and ready for another purple patch.

Kruezer is a mega star, thank goodness he is fit again.

Not much congestion when kicking for goal. As bad as Casboult used to be.

Yeah, his confidence is shot there. But then, that used to be Cripps' Achilles heel early on too.

Sorry but we lost the game (again) because we fold under pressure in the final minutes of close games. Nothing to do with the umpires.

At one point it seemed a real contest, the non call was a turning point. It is also possible to both play purely and to get shafted by the umps.

It’s because he isn’t fit enough and needs to work on his defensive side. Seems logical to me. Once ready will go into midfield and will be a gun. Elite skills
They can't all play regularly through the midfield. I see Stocker playing the lion's share of his footy in defence, this year and next. Will almost certainly play midfield after that. Let's transition from Simmo (then Daisy) in defence, while Murphy and perhaps Ed finish out their midfield time..

Cripps, Ed and Murphy, with Walsh, SPS, Setterfield, Dow, Fisher, Cuningham and Kennedy developing and probable cameos from JSOS, Gibbons doesn't leave a lot of time inside. Take a look at the time on ground stats, we are managing a balancing act of both developing and protecting the youngsters.

I did like Bolts not wanting to discuss the positives because the loss hurt.

If you’ve watched football for more than a decade you know that this is what happens to clubs on the rise. We will be lucky to win four games this year and yes we might finish last and yes the media will be all over us again, talking about how we shouldn’t have traded for Stocker etc and in two years - no not next year, the year after - if we are injury free and we keep this core group then watch us march into the the eight and onwards. At least that’s what I believe. You can see it on the park today. We’ve seen it all year.

Does losing hurt. **** yes. Is it OK to be ropable. Yep. But if you’re still bagging us for not having the mental fortitude for not winning this game against a season well drilled club then you clearly don’t understand how football works and how youth will alway pale in comparison to experience.

Theyre not young mate - they are 21 year olds with 50 games under their belt they should be smashing it.

At 21 and 50 games,they are 'football' young mate. Let's re-visit this chat when they're 24/25 with 100+ games.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised :thumbsu:

Special mention to Casboult. I know it was only Reid but you performed as well as Jones

its a big IF. but if Levi can repeat this defensive role , then he adds to our flexibility immensely.

1 . Prevent the need for Mitch to go back as often as he does
2 . Allows another ruck option - without the unwanted side effect of him stinking up our F50 leading patterns
3 . Maybe gives Weitering and or Jones a chance to rotate into the forward line if times dictate.

About the young fellas

Walsh
Rolls Royce
Just wait till he has a body to go with his tank
I have never seen a player with so much upside in all me days.
The way he got down low and wide to take that ball in the 3rd ( I think it was the 3rd)

Today I see what was meant by SOS did something about it regarding Jack
He morphed into Jack. The late fist. Yeah

Young Paddy has some tricks. He can get the ball as good as Cripps. Just has to build his strength to that level.

Stocker looks the goods. Just something.

Cuninghaaaaaaam. The lad will be a star.

Fish is slowly slowly getting the idea. And some size. Its just games

Setterfield. Could be anything. He will be a star also.

Samo.....he seems caught between going in and staying back as second man. Basically too skinny for what he is doing. A second preason will make a massive difference.

Harry is a tall forward. Two years off his best but way ahead of his age already.

Weitering. Key position champion being assembled.

Gibbons...is fast....they have to persevere.

We are getting close blues fans. Stay the course.

games like that are going to happen for the majority of the year. We are putting ourselves in winnable positions. We are mostly in games up to our neck but for a number of reasons can’t seal the deal. With maturity will come the wins.

We may see a rise at the end of the year, it may be next year but we aren’t as far off as the ladder says.

Fitzroy's last four seasons

1993 - 10 wins
1994 - 5 wins
1995 - 2 wins
1996 - 1 win

Carlton -
2018 - 2 wins
2017 - 6 wins
2016 - 7 wins
2015 - 4 wins

2019 -
loss,
loss,
loss,
loss,
win,
loss,
loss,
loss,
plays GWS next week - 90-95% likely loss, st kilda - will lose that, essendon- will lose that, maybe get within 20 points, Brisbane- vastly improved, so will be a loss, most likely chance for a next win against Bulldogs rd 13.

When will they review Bolton as a coach? Does he have the nous to make the right team moves? Is he inspirational when he speaks? why do they continue to lose?
How many wins/losses will they incur before the AFL consider folding up Carlton/merging them with another club? Do they review it after 10 losing seasons?
Perhaps Carlton is "a big club" so it is unlikely folding/merging etc is on the cards. Who knows? They change the rules every year, so year by year the conditions of the game can change. Also, Carlton makes money for the AFL so it is unlikely.

Melbourne and Brisbane went thru the same- so why can't Carlton would be the common response...but is Carlton's situation even worse if remedial action isn't taken now?

I think they could incur another 10 losing seasons and the AFL wouldn't even look at it. Ignore Carlton's situation at their peril I guess.

How many losses is too many losses for Carlton?
What is the break even point for this season? 3 wins? 4 wins?
Or do they just continue on next season in the same pattern and hope things change due to "all the young talent" in the team.
or perhaps Carlton can get points for winning quarters from now on.

That crumb off the pack at full pace by Gibbons was a real highlight for me. Eddie was the last Carlton player that could do that.
