Won't get too carried away with the win, but any victory over those smug, entitled, ****wit hole diggers from the West makes for a very good weekend in my book.

Hate those campaigners.

The non-paid 50 for Goldie had me very angry at the end of third, so I know what you mean. Cannot get a more obvious holding the game up.

In terms of the ladder, someone will probably finish 4th on 14 wins, someone (very possibly us) will miss the 8 on 13 wins.
Will be surprised if we make it. Four wins could see us miss. I am going to Brisbane next week and want to wear shorts to the game but don't. Two of the most improved sides that have far less injuries than last year. They can only play three quarters so must make the most when they get tired. Cameron Joyce looking to meet with homesick youngsters having perfected their grandmother's recipes in his rented Brisbane gourmet kitchen. Ryan bastinac to scale the walls and make fish faces on the window. Cameron Joyce to close curtains. Tom bell to taste a very approximate version of his grandmother's Bosch and to agree to sign on as an insurance rookie. The luggage man raves about Joyce's guinness and elk pie and Joyce reminds him that it tastes better in the autumn with leaves falling outside. Lugg sheds a year and asks for seconds.

Dunno about that, Browny is a great crumbing player, especially for someone as tall as he is.

Both of them have high CoGs and that makes things harder for them at ground level.

I was just noticing last night how Maj seems to defy gravity when he goes for the ball at ground level, moving at the speed he does. Even if sometimes he doesn't scoop it, he's still incredibly graceful for a guy as top heavy and tall as he is. It's really quite remarkable, and I don't think I've ever seen him fall, which, really, defies logic a bit. Speaks volumes about his balance and poise.

BBB I just love watching, even though he often just flails and looks like a piece of underwater seaweed, my god he gets it done! Pulls off some of the most amazing moves for a guy who looks quite uncollected going in at times.

Good pickup ferbs. I think both of them defy the odds, each with their own unique style. Hats off to them.

Solid 4 quarter team effort. Well done to Brad bringing it together structurally and the players for executing.

We still have a major issue in our forward entry method and general forward craft mainly in 1st halves of games. As a result we waste dominant periods early in games usually to see the opposition scuttle past us quickly with a couple of well aimed attacks.

Fortunately we were good enough to sustain the pressure and control of possession to overcome this. Hopefully we can refine the processes more very soon so we're 5.0-0.3 after the 1st 5 minutes in games rather than 0.5-3.0.

Hello folks, explaining how we kept West Coast goalless for almost the entire second half, and the (slight) tweaks made with our ball movement after half time in The Shinboner review: https://theshinboner.com/2018/07/30/round-19-match-review-north-melbourne-west-coast-the-shinboner/

*Also to save you the disappointment, there's no Ahern chat in there. I'm saving that for a separate discussion mid-week.

It feels easy to answer using Captain Hindsight, but in the moment the temptation is always there to react. It’s also the difference between coaches and the general public; coaches are looking at a complete different set of objectives than the fans, and it’s how there can sometimes be a disconnect between the two groups when results don’t match expectations.

Good one. So many times on here people bag the coach for not implementing plan B quickly enough.

While I understand their pov I like that Scott is prepared to back his players and systems in during games but I don't think there's enough recognition of the value of holding your ground and sticking to your plan. Sure there are times it doesn't work but there are also times where what you say happens - on the ground things look better than the scoreboard - it was obvious to me yesterday, even when we down in the second quarter we were a much stronger looking side. Everyone wants a plan B and to play the shiny new toys kids but holding your ground is something important for a footy side imo. On field and in the coaches box.

Yeah, all piss easy to say after a win but how many times have we see Scott's holding his ground where we are flat out never in it?

Only to see the last quarter token move of taz or maj up forward for 10 mins to show the magnets were thrown around lol

I was out for the first half yesterday so catching it this morning. Apart from missing a couple of set shots it's not as bad as I had imagined - forward entries were mostly under pressure, and the ones that weren't, saw good passing to forwards in scoring positions.

The first quarter has also seen, to these old eyes anyway, some of LMac's best work this season. I know when you know it works out ok that the poor stuff doesn't bother you as much as it does live, but there has been some autopsy harping about individuals that I don't understand based on that team performance.

Spot On. Scotts biggest flaw is that he sticks fat by and large with the 'Plan'and Senior Players even if that 'Plan' ain't working or Players are struggling in their positions. Yeah he does make slight tweaks but they tend to be changes that don't really influence the outcome of a game. His match day Nous is Ordinary IMO. We very rarely come from behind to win games. It's very rare. If anything over Scotts tenure, it is the opposition that is more capable of coming back from a deficit and knocking us over and I don't think that's very fair. :stern look
