Would Woodend receive any compensation or the like for having to play on a sunday vs Cousins?

The Hawks should be more concerned about whether Hume City Council fronts them on Saturday about charging a gate, or if some in the area that now know about the issue refuse to pay!!!!

This weeks Woodend Vs Sunbury has been shifted and will now be played at Sunbury.

Just as a heads up to everyone, this game will be hosted by Woodend/Hesket, both clubs are working together to ensure the success of the day...

And while all of these Council's have not implemented this requirement, none have ruled out that they would not do so in the future, so when they do, what stops the local councils that border them doing the same?? The issue that has come about thanks to the Council employee too tight to pay $10 entry could cover our state!!!!

I'm pretty sure clubs in the Hume City Council just need to obtain a permit at the start of the season to charge admission. I'm sure its not expensive. Yes its bureaucratic madness, but it won't be the doomsday of the clubs if they apply for the permit via the correct channels.

The same goes for the league/s before finals.

Have you seen the permit???

From what I can gather from clubs, there is a list of requirements that need to be met in order to submit an application, which of course could be rejected....

Included in this is a petition of local residents saying they don't oppose the games being on?? You expect volunteers to have to tack on countless more hours of their own time to collect this data??? Every time the permit is required to be renewed!!!!

C'mon, let's get serious, this is Council BS at it's best... For 70 years local clubs haven't required this permit, now because of a tightwad, every club needs to hold it...

Do you think the RDFL is going to go through the requirements to hold a finals game, nope, and nor should they, another applicant will receive the final.. Simple.

Like I said, it's bureaucratic madness. Still, the clubs and the leagues will just have to adjust and try to negotiate with the council about a long-term arrangement.

This is exactly what I am talking about, surely, if a permit needs to be in place, so be it, but surely rather than saying "this is the way it is, do it" the council could be flexible enough to see that the current positioning of local football within this "law" is incorrect, the "Public Event" header is far too broad to encompass Rock Concerts and Local football games under the one branch.... Look to adjust the current set up so that it is fair and equitable for both parties, something that it is currently not!!!

Compensation for what? being part of one of the most exciting games in the RDFL's history!
For a start half the side doesnt want to play on sunday (nor should they have to), And one of the most exiting games?, surely ur getting a bit too exited there pal.

Saw in the rag that no cars are going to be parked around romsey park fence when cuz plays. If the 10000 or so expected turn up, where the hell are we all gonna park?

Your getting ahead of yourself, maynot be against Woodend, so before you start complaining wait and see if your apart of it first!

I'd say whomever told the herald sun it would be against woodend was getting ahead of themselves, and I wasnt complaining I was asking a simple question and stating a fact. IMS, If the unthinkable does happen in our league (and maybe at the big upcoming cuzzfest), what would happen?, would those refusing to pay be turned away or would the club simply not be able to charge at the gate? A possible $80K gate could be quite diminished.

Nothing would happen in the league this year outside of Hume fortunately, the other Council groups that our clubs are linked to are happy to support clubs charging a gate for now... I would be quite disappointed if anyone within our league refused to pay a gate fee at any ground to be honest...

You would also have to agree mate, that a game involving Ben Cousins, would generate a fair whack of excitement around the competition... There is every right to be excited about the prospect... Logistically is something that the clubs involved would have to work out, it is up to those involved to ensure that it is an exciting spectacle for all in attendance.. I honestly do think that any club with an opportunity to play in a game that will gain so much exposure would be willing to sacrifice one Sunday game to be involved, but that's just me thinking outside the square again!!!

True but it would mean the my alterboy duties would be interupted, I will say though that the club playing against you guys will have their footy trip coffers multiplied with all the fines for players pictuers in papers, on telly etc. :thumbsu:

From what I'm lead to believe, the presidents of the football clubs, the council and the rdfl delegates have been working hard for the same thing not to happen as did to Sunbury. The Macedon RSC has given permission for the clubs in the mrsc to continue to charge their gate fee. As for parking, accross the road from the footy club is a 5 acre paddock that i'm sure the Romsey footy club would be able to use.

This will go on for an eternity.. the Macedon Ranges Shire won't issue a permit to any club in its area.. the Melton Shire won't budge.. the only clubs effected will be those in Sunbury which in insight, isn't a problem now anyway because they've got their hands on a permit and they can take gatetakings for every home game for the rest of the year at Boardman (so can Woodend on Saturday) and they are in line to host a final.. the Roos are safe for the next two years.. as for juniors.. I'm not sure if Rupertswood have stepped up yet and the Sunbury Lions juniors have.. this will impact junior finals..
Bring on the weekend that Cousins' plays.. explosive action on Saturday and Sunday of that round on Highlands FM.. have to love it!!

Just wondering from the public out there on who everyone thinks are the most under rated players currently playing in the rdfl. God knows there are alot. I'd like to cast my vote and say Thomas Mainey from Rockbank

Good on you there Tom, love your enthusiasm. :thumbsu:

On this subject I'd like to mention a few unsung players that catch my eye, they are -

Glen Robertson. (Riddell) - Battles his heart out week in week out in the ruck against usually much bigger & taller opponents & always gives a great account of himself. Also, come finals time seems to find another level, getting plenty of the pill. (The BEST Robertson going around inthe RDFL:eek:)

Grant Puxley. (Riddell) - Great young talent. Never intimidated, who stepped up to senior ranks like as if he belonged there. Guttsy, versatile & dependable utility player that rarely puts a foot wrong. (Just love his work)

Jamie Cuffe. (Sunbury) - How does he do it ?? Evergreen athletic geriatric adonis who is still able to play good footy & beat blokes half his age even though he is 56  !!! The day this dude gives it away, Sunbury & indeed the RDFL will be the poorer for it. (I WANT what he's ON !)

Shane Marchewka. (Diggers Rest) - Never ever really hear a lot about this bloke. But looks & moves like a footballer should. Can play almost anywhere. Got a good leap, takes a lovely grab, kicks & uses the ball very well & can kick a goal or two when required.

Mathew Krul. (Rockbank) - I thought when IMS didn't include Mat' as a key player in his pre-game match previews a couple of weeks ago  that perhaps he was falling into this "under rated category". But I see him very much as an integral part of the Rockbank side. Plays taller than he actually is, runs through the lines & is often able to play a number of roles in the Rams structure. Bobbing up for important goals when needed also. When Mat' plays well, so (generally) do Rockbank. :thumbsu:

Ash McNaughton from Romsey.

Grant Puxley from Riddell.

Both have the ability to break games open in a very short time. McNaughton should lead Bowen count before injury.

In relation to the Cousins discussion: with the exposure it will bring to the RDFL, does anyone honestly believe that it will not be showcased on a Sunday? When the date is decided, I'm sure the league will pull rank and get the board to approve the Sunday game regardless of an opposition not wanting to. As for compo for having to play on a Sunday, you have to be kidding. It is a Romsey home game and they have done the work to pull this off.

Are you back Grant3 (Bigboy)? We thought you were still on the river drinking latte!!

Warren Kairns from Romsey has been a very good defender also chris burrkett from lancefield. Nipper Wright from Macedon, great midfielder.
