I want to say the news is unexpected but given that she recently got engaged, her reaction after winning the Australian Open and that it is well known she is not a fan of the tour, she has definitely picked the right time to end it.

Will leave the game as a superstar and a candidate for sporting facilities in Australia to be named after her.

Don't think there will be much of an issue (apart from the usual nuffies) if Margaret Court Arena becomes the Ash Barty Arena.

Although Evonne Goolagong probably deserves it just as much if not more...

Plenty of sporting arenas around Australia and the world that aren't named after 'best' players.

Even in tennis, Roland Garros and Arthur Ashe, places where Grand Slams are held, aren't regarded by any expert as the best at the time.
