I built the previous version of this with my boys a couple of months ago. Waited until we went through the trilogy and then cracked it out might have to upgrade to this version :)

I really should make my kids watch the one true trilogy soon.

Ishmael_ finally finished CHAOS (I blame roughly 50 hours of Elden Ring in 3 weeks) - was a good read, felt a bit conspiracy nutty towards the end but it definitely interesting entertaining some of the possibilities. Something is definitely up with people refusing to share information with him, seemed to be a lot of self-preservation and it sux how much of the truth is going to die with people considering the age of the story. But as he finishes he can confirm it didn't happen exactly as we think we know it. Not sure if you've read Area 51, but had similar vibes to it. Thanks for the recommendation.

I started Normal People by Sally Rooney Ochre, whether you've read it or not you recommended Sally Rooney to me so I'll direct my review at you.

Ya for sure, I think it peters out towards the end and I think he'd admit he can't substantiate the later stuff. But it's also so weird how many of these CIA freaks show up in random places. That Operation Midnight Climax stuff is truly wild, and hilarious. Definitely the best titled name for an op ever.

Regardless I think he proves the central conceit of the book, that the narrative as we know it is BS, it was clearly covered up at multiple levels and Manson was almost certainly an informant.

Normal People is great. Really captures intimacy well, especially that all consuming, head spinning infatuation you have when you're young. The show is excellent too. One of the better adaptations I've seen.

Definitely a snitch and Melcher was in it up to his eyeballs.

Ohhhh ya, hell of a producer though! It's crazy how many of these people were just straight up f#cking 14, 15 year olds. I reckon that's a big reason why a lot of these big Hollywood people still won't talk.

Biggest revelation for me though was that dune buggies are called dune buggies because they were originally based on VW beetles. 🤯

Years ago (2008) a guy called Dave McGowan wrote a blog on the whole 60s “counter culture“ that pointed out the completely manufactured bs that it was. And that brings us to the now......

And his books can still be bought on amazon ( he died a couple years ago), such as Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon

Also John Lennon’s lost weekend is worth finding
From memory, one of the most interesting parts is him smashing up his room and shouting “it’s all Polanski fault!!“
Hmm

You know when you're at a party and speaking to a group and then a crazy person comes and joins the conversation and everyone goes quiet and you wished you still smoked so you had an excuse to walk outside?

And then everyone slowly drifts away until there's one poor campaigner stuck talking with the crazy person and you come back three drinks later and they're still there and you just walk away again laughing because it wasn't you this time
