I mentioned this in a couple of threads but in times of corporate sponsorship and need to enhance market share

What are peoples thoughts of doing something like playing Melbourne on a friday night for the Primus Cup where Primus would dominate the advertising stakes on TV and Radio for the night ensuring we oblige to contract deals where we aim to give Primus maximum exposure while we get the benefits of corporate sponsorship and attendance figures.

Who knows a Reebok Cup against Fremantle or even play games for mazda.

In times where we are ensuring jumpers, shorts, coaches boxes and venues are fully advertised why not have cups and advertising dominance on the night to ensure further exposure ensuring all stakeholders leave happy.

We dont want it getting to the point e.g Brazil having some sought of dictation over selection e.g ronaldo but if we can further use this to our advantage to enhance market share, this can only strengthen our position in the corporate world.

I like the Primus idea!! very nice indeed.

Ive sent an E-mail to the marketing department see how that goes.

Whats the worse that they can say.

Just a member trying to help out.

Maybe all 3 sponsors can combine to make it a big night in corporate Australia to show off the club while we show off the 3 brands.

After the primus cup maybe we can play melbourne again where its our home game. Play them twice on friday night.

Maybe before the game we can have a car giveaway, reebok apparel and a primus package as a like on-field raffle to get people to come to this friday night game.

I like some of your ideas, you could even try the following,

Have a look at your 11 Home Games for 2006,

6 Games, North get a pretty good return.
*3 at Manuka (Guaranteed Return)
*3 Blockbusters at Dome (Collingwood, Carlton & Essendon?)

3 Games have potential for better return.
Hawthorn @ Dome
Melbourne @ MCG
Lions @ Dome

2 Games probably end up with Loss @ Dome.
Crows (Last time Crowd, 25K)
Power (25K for a Final, 16K 2004)

--------------------------------------------
6 games should hopefully get a pretty good return, so possibly the best thing to do would be to target the 3 games for a better return, so that for the year North only suffers 2 losses against Interstate clubs which then looks okay.

Primus Cup was a good one with Melbourne (Maybe Primus will throw in some Sponsorship money for the winning team or to junior footy, charity or something)

For all games H&A, the "The Great Mazda Give Away" or something like that, each week get local Mazda dealers to sign up to put their names on the Banner. What a suprise North play 14 games in Victoria....there are 14 Mazda Dealers in the Melbourne Metropolitan area (including Geelong). At each game, tickets are sold to win prizes each week from the dealer and North Members get discount from that dealer for that week or something. (I doubt each dealer would give away a small mazda, but no harm in asking. Discounts on Services, new car, maybe some Primus/Reebok packs. At the End of the year, the club could have like a Supporter day (Hopefully for North it would be the day when finals training is open to the public) when they announce the grand prize of what ever car/s they can give away. But to win the prize you have to take your game ticket as well...not sure if this would work, but the whole idea is to boost attendances.

Now for Reebok, what if Reebok purchased a heap of merchandise from the club (A bit like the Fox Footy ticket thing in Canberra) and then gave back to the club, so the club could sell at about quarter of the price to the 3 home games they are looking for more fans, but you have to be a member for the discount and have to be at the game......Also free Reebok packs at Quarter, Half, 3 Quarter time.

Maybe the Kangas and Melbourne could push for a blockbuster type game on the Saturday Arvo of the bye weekend as Sydney plays Collingwood for the Annual Primus Cup clash...........

What do others think?

over-commercialisation is killing footy! It sure aint the people's sport anymore. & how proud would the players be holding aloft the "Primus Cup"? I know it'd bring a tear to my eye.

But this idea is so in line with AFL attitudes, I'm sure it will go down fantastically.;)

I think the primus cup is more a distant thing, the issue I bring up is so we can get more friday night exposure. The primus cup is just a suggestion but the other ideas are more worthy.

Basically my argument comes down to getting more exposure on friday night football and both clubs can benefit while the sponsors are benefitng as well and both sides are living up to there end of the deal.

The ultimate objective is prime-time football to a national audience

Fair enough - I'm all for the Friday games & hate going to footy on a sunday.

Just a bit of the old bastard in me I suppose: ...back in my day they played for the jumper...people could sit where ever they wanted...people actually barracked...the seconds played before the main game...........& on & on!

From speaking to my old man and alot of the old school crew, it sounded like football was great in them days and its a shame the younger generations can't have these experiences.

By the sounds of it, some of the characteristics are urgently needed.

Primus are a bunch of arse holes. I took up their broadband deal and three months in they started charging me an extra few bucks account fee. I rang them and told them that I always paid on time so they can shove it up their internet arse holes. They said I need to provide my bank account details to avoid paying this fee and I said I don't give those to any arse hole like you. Now I just let the account fees accumulate on the statement unpaid. I heard one bloke have the some problem on radio and Primus threatened him with a cancellation fee. He told them to stick their broadband, account fee and cancellation fee up their arse holes and he never heard from them again. I'm close to doing the same thing !
