STIs are a reality as well as pregnancy risk, unfortunately. Hookers usually insist on condoms, especially in licensed brothels. Their sexual health is their livelihood, after all.

‘Twas meant to be hookee. I corrected it twice and it still updated

Wait till a woman dies. it’s just a matter of time.
This, unfortunately, wouldn't seem to have any sort of positive impact on those that have contributed to this issue. You only have to look at the number of children who have died due to gun violence and the lack of change there.

In my eyes, it seems life is not actually what's important to those that say they are 'pro-life'.

I certainly have a special place in hell for those over there who think this is great political tactics
Thank f*** the ruling occurred after our government changed, you could just imagine the response from the meathead backbench of the Coalition if they'd still been in government. Canavan and the like standing up there and calling for "sensible" debate over whether we shouldn't allow a woman access to proper healthcare

That, more or less, was exactly what I was afraid of. A second victory, after the fluke of the first one, would've emboldened them, made them so much worse. They would've felt justified to continue doing what they were already doing, but more and worse.

They would've been an absolute nightmare. Thank **** it didn't happen.

agree. I am just hopeful the people making these decisions are voted out at the state level.

I don't know if 'enjoyed' is quite the right word. One of the failings of language, I suppose.

Enjoyed in the sense that watching her squirm and dance around using what is the medically appropriate term, then be called out for misinformation in the moment, was a satisfactory experience.

Too often these idiots peddle misinformation in front of committees and are allowed to get away with it unchallenged.

Well that's part of the problem I guess, anti abortionists don't see it as a healthcare issue from what I can tell, it's killing babies to them.

If that's true, they've genuinely reached handmaids tale Territory now.
It’s such a strange tale for many reasons. One which stands out to me is that California is one of the pro abortion states, could they have done this to make anti abortion side seem more deranged than normal?

The overturning of Roe v Wade is seems to be another bitter lesson that these wars are won and lost, incrementally, over decades - and at the grass-roots.

The anti-abortion movement is rabid, righteous, well-organised and well-funded. The built a coalition and Republican adopted that Coalition, made it a platform of their party.

The pro-abortion side (70% of the country) did not fight as hard or organise as well on this issue. You might think that's an over-simplification, but majority of the Left simply did not prioritise the issue and legislate it when they had the chance (albeit a brief window) because the Federal right to an abortion was taken for granted. Now it's been taken away in many states and likely will be Federally.

I hope it doesn't take 50 years for American women to win their reproductive rights back but I worry it will take decades at least. There needs a concerted decades long grass-roots movement similar to what the anti-abortion movement did ever since Roe v Wade. The Democrats will need to be purged of about 90% of their current makeup because they are born losers who couldnt fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

Yes, Republicans are evil but you can fight evil with the limp-wrist.

More info here;

Seems she was deported for other (visa and employment related) reasons but the pregnancy and abortion questions actually were asked

Also a bit confused as to why US officials would be enforcing Canadian visa restrictions.
This is such a bizarre situation, I just can't work out why the hell they would need to know if she had recently had an abortion, let alone pregnant! Did they think she was trying to sneak into the country to get an abortion?!? So weird.

I understand that she was on her way to Canada... but at the moment, I'd be staying so far away from the US (even as a stopover)... It's just a dumpster fire.

It's good advice. Wife and I were considering a few days in Seattle on our way back from Vancouver next January but I am struggling with the idea of even visiting the USA these days. I've heard Seattle is fantastic and the USA has so much to offer but as you say, the whole joint is completely farked right now.

Now this one sounds a bit more sketchy than the Ohio 10 year old.

Pretty incredible if true
pretty ****ed visa waiver system

there have been a lot of articles recently about Aussie's being detained, strip/cavity searched, treated like shit and deported due to some small unknown technicality on their visa waiver

their immigration/border controls treat everyone like criminals and they seem to find people that are campaigners, I imagine its the kind of workforce that needs it because if you weren't their policies and how they treat people would turn you off quick

It's run by the same people that went looking for people to deport at the Uvalde school shooting

There are places in North America I'd like to visit, like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite etc but ****ed if I'm in any sort of rush currently

You're ignoring all of the evidence.
What evidence?

your ignoring all the evidence that controlling women is never mentioned amongst anti abortion supporters. At all. its always about protecting a false definition of life defined by religions. Your ignoring the fact an awful lot of anti abortionists are women.

the one common trait that defines anti abortion views is not sex. Its religion.
